Best Onion Rings In Seattle?

So far my #1 pick is Maritime Brewery in Ballard... #2 pick is Linda's on Cap Hill. What are your favorites?

Best Small out of the way place?

I love the town of Langley on Whidbey Island! It is a great place for a day trip. On two occasions, I have had a great lunch at Prima Bistro.

French Restaurant Recs? (SEA)

Depending on the style of the couple, I would vote for Le Pichet or Cafe Presse if they prefer a casual atmosphere. I love them both! Cafe Presse is simply the less expensive, more casual little sister to Le Pichet (same owners). I would do a gift of $100 for Le Pichet and $70 for Cafe Presse.

seattle musts

For both of you who indicated that you're staying downtown, I am limiting my response to nearby restaurants for the sake of your convenience. Of the Tom Douglas restaurants, I like Serious Pie (for pizza) and Lola (greek)... but I personally wouldn't do Dahlia Lounge or Etta's. My votes are Tavolata and Barolo.

Lunch w/ the boss' wife in Seattle -- HELP!

My votes for business/social lunch in downtown are: Tulio, Wild Ginger, Il Terrazzo Carmine and Cascadia.

Seeking suggestions in Seattle

I recommend Tavolata, in Belltown. The atmosphere is warm/intimate, but modern/smart at the same time. And the food is delicious and interesting. www.tavolata.com

Seattle's best cheap eats

I second the vote for happy hour at the Brooklyn. It's one of the best in town!

RE: Smoked Salmon/Seafood???

The seafood market at Fisherman's Terminal has a great selection of smoked salmon - I think it's called Wild Salmon Seafood Market. If you go to Fisherman's Terminal (where the restaurant Chinooks is located), you can't miss it.

European visiting Portland

Anytime I see a question about Portland restaurants, I have to push for Park Kitchen. It is completely delightful and fits your objectives perfectly!

Need a nice place Tacoma/SeaTac/South Seattle for dinner?

A great Italian place right near the airport is Osteria da Primo, in Burien.

Sea - Places you want to hate

I completely agree!! The chairs are so heavy, so big, and SO uncomfortable.

SEA - Bar for birthday party?

I agree with another writer who voted for SeaSound Lounge. I went to a party there once and it was great! I think they are also willing to work with you on the pricing for appetizers if you're having a large group.

Affordable Awesome in PDX?

I highly recommend Park Kitchen, located in the Pearl District. It's wonderful! Excellent food and charming, cozy atmosphere. www.parkkitchen.com

Sea- The Local Vine or Purple Cafe

I vote for Local Vine over Purple Cafe, based mostly on atmosphere. Purple Cafe seems like its trying too hard to be chic and hip - although they do have a large wine selection. I like the atmosphere at Local Vine, they are knowledgable and helpful and have some unique wines.

DC HOUND VISITING SEATTLE FOR FIRST TIME!

1. Lunch places: Aqua Verde (Burritos) in U District, Cafe Presse (Casual French) on Capitol Hill

2. Pike Place: Not a restaurant, but a specialty Italian grocery store... hit up DeLaurenti's if you want to do "take-in" at home... they have incredible cheeses, cured meats and homemade ravioli.

3. Coffee shops... I don't think that the "living room" style is characteristic of Seattle. I would suggest Cafe Vita on Capitol Hill or Cafe Ladro on upper Queen Anne if you want to experience typical Seattle coffee culture.

4. For Breakfast/Brunch: Portage Bay Cafe (South Lake Union location is better as it doesn't seem to get as busy), Hi Spot Cafe in Madrona, Crave on Capitol Hill. All of these can be busy on weekend mornings, but they are worth the wait.

For Dinner: Ototo Sushi on Queen Anne, Wann Japanese Izakaya in Belltown, Mamma Melina's (Italian) in U District, Osteria la Spiga (Italian) on Capitol Hill. The city has tons of good Thai restaurants... but none of them standout as being exceptionally better than others... a few ideas are Ayutthaya on Capitol Hill or Orrapin on upper Queen Anne. Local cuisine in Seattle would be seafood of all kinds... clams, mussels, oysters, salmon, halibut. Unfortunately, it's hard to find good casual, inexpensive seafood. If you're up for happy hour on Monday evening, I highly recommend The Brooklyn... it is a downtown seafood spot that is pretty pricey but has the best happy hour in town (IMO) with incredible raw oysters and other shellfish.

Casual standard fare Italian in Seattle or Eastside

Cheap places with character in Seattle (and greater Western WA?)

For Breakfast/Brunch: Portage Bay Cafe (South Lake Union location is better as it doesn't seem to get as busy), Madison Park Cafe in Madison Park, Hi Spot Cafe in Madrona, Crave on Capitol Hill. All of these can be busy on weekend mornings, but they are worth the wait.

For Lunch/Dinner: Stellar Pizza in Georgetown, Aqua Verde (Burritos) in U District, Ototo Sushi on Queen Anne, Mamma Melina's (Italian) in U District , Cafe Presse on Capitol Hill.
