Profile
Best meal I ever ate:
Any Thanksgiving dinner that includes properly prepared turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and any Passover seder - both meals served with people I love and lots of laughter.
My current drink of choice:
God help me, it's so embarrassing! I'm a ten cup a day Lipton's tea devotee.
I really wish I could:
always be happy and healthy
My "Go-to" dinner party dish:
My old friend Estelle's Sephardic Jewish easy spanakopita recipe (made in a lasagna pan - none of that boring folding!) - available by searching online and at chow.com.
My favorite comfort food:
REAL New York pizza! AND my easy chicken soup with matzoh balls - recipe also available with a little search.
My top 5 favorite restaurants:
!) Hamburger Mary's SF - which lives only in blessed memory. Some of my best years were enjoyed as their dessert baker. 2) Tadich Grill - SF landmark fish mecca. 3) Westlake Joe's - my extended SF family has eaten many happy and delicious old school meals there over the years to mark special occasions. 4) Victor's Pizza - closest thing to NY pizza available in SF. (Hmm..wish I had some right now) Staff is actually Italian and flirts with all female customers regardless of advancing age or generally accepted standards of beauty.
My most tattered cookbooks:
My most tattered RECIPE is my Grandma Gertrude's stuffed cabbage (hand written) recipe from the 1950's - which I treasure. You can get it online if you do a little search. It is Soooo good!
