Kelp Noodles: Where to Buy?

Freshia has them in their refrigerated section. But the last time I bought them they were really tough and chewy and I had to throw them out.

Sprouts Market.

I go to the Torrance location and the produce can be terrible! I had to throw away a watermelon because it was rotten inside. I do like the bulk section because they have a wide selection of raw nuts and it frequently goes on sale. But overall, their prices really aren't much better than Whole Foods. In fact, some of their items can be much higher!

Anyone know where to buy the metal steamers they use at Din Tai Fung?

Chef's Mart. there's one in Torrance, right at the corner of Artesia and Van Ness.

Can Microwaved Water Explode?

I had a similar situation that Meowzebub had. I heated up a cup of coffee and when I added some cold water, the coffee bubbled up an d overflowed the cup.

Can't seem to find cake flour! Help!

I don't think that I've ever seen a grocery store not carry it. I believe that even Target may carry it.

Whole Foods consistently overcharges

You better believe I pointed out their errors! I wish they had Alberton's policy on wrong prices--you get the item for free.

Whole Foods consistently overcharges

Every week I have gone to Whole Foods they have always over -charged me on items. For instance:

1. I bought some Nutritional Yeast at their bulk bin. The price said $5.99 a pound, but when the cashier rang it up, it was $7.99 a pound.

2. Soy milk was listed as $1.29, the cashier rang it up as $1.49.

3. I picked up a fennel bulb and the cashier charged me for dandelion greens (which, of course, was more expensive).

There's a lot more, but you get the message. Has anyone else experienced this? Who can I complain to?

Thanks

Hey vegetarians and vegans - would you eat test tube meat?

A big "NO"!

Game Face

That doesn't bother me. I knew a woman who would blow her nose at the table and leave the dirty kleenex behind the salt and pepper shakers.

Looking For A Slice Of Pie

Their pies have really gone down hill. The crust for the cream pies are horrible! It tastes like it was barely cooked. The filling for their fruit pies have zero taste. And buying a slice of pie is a rip off--over $5.00!

Another Bad Attempt at a Diet Dessert

Yes, I'm in total agreement with your review. All of their chocolate based desserts are horrible. The one exception is their Cheesecake, but I no longer see it in the stores.

Red Velvet Cake

Never tried their Red Velvet Cake, but I found that all their other cakes tend to have frosting that is much too sweet.

Soy milk instead of regular milk

Yes, in dessert recipes according to Cook's Illustrated. But, no, for savory type of foods. And I, myself, have used it in a sweet bread yeast recipe and it came out fine.

Gluten recipes

I was wondering if gluten free recipes are lower in calories than the normal version. Alton Brown had a recipe for gluten free chocolate chip cookies and he said they tasted just as good as the original. I have no problems with gluten, but I do try to watch my weight.

Sorry, if I didn't post on the correct board.

Does Flour Tossed with Nuts or Chocolate Chips REALLY keep them from sinking when baking?

No. The only way to keep nuts, chips, etc. from sinking is a thick batter.
