Best meal I ever ate:
Can't think of just one, and can't compare great meals that were so different in focus. That's like asking what your favorite outfit is, when you have a favorite pair of jeans, a favorite evening ensemble, etc. Just can't compare pizzas to profiteroles.
My current drink of choice:
15-year-old Glen Garioch if wishes were horses. For the world of reality, I love dutched cocoa, made my way at home, whisked and all, thick, dark, intense, dairy-free, with a little cinnamon and chili pepper. Ordinary days, Yorkshire Gold Tea is hard to beat. When I feel industrious and can stand to see it disappear in 2 seconds when the kids want theirs too, from-scratch Stevia lemonade infused with its own zest is great.
I really wish I could:
Eat carbs and sugar with impunity.
My "Go-to" dinner party dish:
I don't try to invite people outside my family to dinner anymore unless I am prepared to serve Hamburger Helper or some such, because everything special I have ever made, where I live now, goes untouched by people who are scared of it. *Sigh*
My favorite comfort food:
A certain chicken fried rice and jasmine tea from a particular eggroll cart on UT campus, in Austin...that sadly no longer exists because the owners were all dragged off and arrested for organized crime.
My top 5 favorite restaurants:
Schlotzsky's Sandwiches and Conan's Pizza in Austin, TX, Luby's Cafeteria (I know but I cain't hep it!), Theo's in Seekonk, MA for the Rhode Island Style Calamari, and Bombay Mahal in Brunswick, ME.
My most tattered cookbooks:
The Joy of Cooking (old pre-70's ones) and several others, but the Joy was what I used to learn Cookery as a teen.
