Wild Edibles - What to Order

It's a great healthy option in the neighborhood. They do all kinds of fish prepared with your choice of seasoning with salad on the side. Their clam chowder is great too, with fresh whole clams tossed in. Their oysters too. The staff is knowledgeable and they have an interesting beer selection.

the new inoteca-have you been?

Met some friends last week around 6:30 and were seated in the bar area right away, though it was the last of the tables or even seats at the bar. It is a great spot for wine and snacks. Their cocktails looked really interesting too. Would love to know how they are.

Went back Sunday for an early dinner for 2, arriving at 5:30, was seated right away but by the time we left it was packed! We had some bruschetta, the truffled egg toast and the proscuitto and sopresetta paninis. I thought the paninis were pretty big and they were served by themselves, as in no salad or anything on the side. Well to be fair there was a little spoonful of roasted fennel with mine. The proscuitto panini had arugula pesto on it which was tasty. I really enjoyed the rabe and the fig and mascapone bruschetta.

It is a great addition to the neighborhood. I would suggest going early and sharing!

Dublin Eats

I wanted to mention a place that I came across while visiting Dublin from New York a couple of weeks ago - The Farm. It 's right near Trinity and focuses on fresh and organic ingredients. I had a delicious fish pie with lots of fresh herbs and my boyfriend had chicken pot pie and spicy wings. Not too expensive either.

Midtown - Coffee Shop on a Saturday afternoon?

Tried Fika Espresso Bar last week. Thought it was pretty good. Park at 28th. There were a couple of tables but not a whole lot of room to sit and chat with more than a couple people. Snacks looked delicious.

HolidayMealsDec24-26:Glutenfree/kidfriendly

There's an italian place in Murray Hill/Kips Bay called Bistango that has a gluten free menu. I live in the neighborhood and always have a great meal there and found the staff to be very friendly.

Potato Pancake mix?

I think I've seen shredded potatoes in the dairy section at the grocery store, like for hash browns. Never tried them but they might work.

boys and bourbon

Not sure if this is the feel you are looking for but what about Hill Country? Their bourbon selection is on their website.

mozzorella bar on corner of 56th &Madison?

I still haven't made it. My boyfriend walked by last weekend and said there wasn't much of a crowd....Sorry to hear about your experience Will4Food. That is disappointing.

Your favorite underrated burger?

So glad to hear someone comment on Piper's Kilt. I've only been to the one in Eastchester. I don't know what they do to the burgers or what kind of meat they use but they taste amazing. I always have to make a stop there when I am up in the burbs. Nothing like a day of big box shopping followed by a burger and beer at Piper's Kilt. It is by far my favorite burger of all of the "usual suspects" in Manhattan.

Obika. Is it finally open? Went to the one in Rome when it first opened there. There was quite a buzz about it. Looking forward to trying it here.

NYC Steakhouses! Please help me decide...

I'm a big fan of Quality Meats. I have had great experiences each time I have been, which was most recently to celebrate my parent's 35th anniversary. They loved it. In the past we had celebrated birthdays and other events at Smith and Wollensky. We had a mix of filets and strip steaks. We were all very happy with the meat. But what I really like about it is that they have an interesting selection of appetizers, sides and desserts. The gnocchi with cheese sauce is awesome, their seafood cocktails are great too. Even their ice creams are amazing, particularly the strawberry shortcake which I am now totally craving. I think it has a modern and fun feel in both menu and decor rather than the more traditional Smith and Wollensky, which I personally find boring, both food and decor. I also like that it is a little less expensive than some of the other new steakhouses in the city that are charging for kobe beef by the ounce. No complaints about the service, it has been friendly and attentive. Overall a great experience.
