Empenadas are very similar. As are Scottish "pasties" and several other things. Alton Brown even did an episode on Good Eats about them. It's basically pie dough around a flavored meat mixture and fried. Mmmmmm.

Does anyone know where I could get something similar in the DFW Area so that I don't have to drive to Shreveport whenever I get the craving?
