Where to dine in Melrose?
I agree about Stearn's. I ate there a few times and each time had an unpleasant experience - not so much that the food was bad, but either service or atmosphere that caused an unenjoyable time. Not planning to return.
I had a very good meal at Absolutely Fabulous, but have only been there once. I think it is well liked, and has a lot of regular customers.
Totally forgot about Spice Thai. It's a pleasant place, and although it does seem targeted to suburban tastes, everything we have had there has been good. It is a nice addition to Main Street.
Where to dine in Melrose?
You could try Bobby C's in Melrose, if you are interested in Italian food. I have had some nice meals there.
The sushi place (in the parking lot) is still there. I haven't been there, but I know some people think its pretty good. I don't think there is much room to eat there, though - I think it is mostly a take out operation.
Agree that if you want Chinese food, go to Fuloon in Malden. It's just a few minutes away, and is really good.
If you are interested in great pizza, you can also drive a few minutes up Route 1 in Saugus to Angela's Coal Fired Pizza.
Buying a Food Processor
My 23 year old Cuisinart just died (while cooking on Christmas Eve!), and I guess it's time to replace it. Any recommendations for buying a new one? I had a large capacity model, which I don't think I really need. I don't really know what competitor brands are like, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Trader Joe's Yea/Nay Thread - 3rd quarter 2011 [Old]
Chocolate covered peanut butter wafer cookies - I don't know if they are new, but I've never seen them before. They are really good - I could have eaten the whole bag pretty easily.
Dining near Johns Hopkins?
SBP - what did your son think of the dining service at JHU?
Dining near Johns Hopkins?
Thanks so much for your suggestions! We will have a car with us when we bring him down, so we don't necessarily have to stick too close to campus. Where would you send us for Seafood or Italian?
Dining near Johns Hopkins?
Hello Baltimore Hounds:
My son is an incoming freshman at Hopkins, and we are eager to get ideas for restaurants in the area (we live in Boston). We'd like suggestions for:
1. A reasonably nice, but still casual, place to take him for a "send-off" dinner when we bring him to school, and
2. Places where he, an extremely adventurous eater with a very low budget, might go to eat when the dining hall gets boring.
Wakefield/ Melrose/ Saugus
Corner Deli in Melrose has opened under new management, but with the same menu. We have had food delivered a few times since they opened - each time they have gotten the orders wrong. Has any one else tried them?

April 2011 Openings and Closings
Does anyone know of a "chocolate themed restaurant" Max Brenner, Chocolate by the Bald Man, opening in the Back Bay? Apparently part of a chain?
April 2011 Openings and Closings
5 Guys is opening (or already opened?) in Saugus, Stoneham and Medford. The locations seem awfully close together. Have you been to 5 Guys in other areas? Worth a trip?
Solid takeout Thai
I just heard that Spice Thai Kitchen is opening a new restaurant on Main Street in Melrose (I think next to Breads 'n Bits) in a few months. They said that they were keeping the take out place on Franklin Street open as well.

Dinner near MOMA on Saturday?
Any suggestions for dinner near MOMA (maybe within 10 minutes walking) for Saturday night? We will have 4 teenagers with us, so we are looking for something casual that they would enjoy. No particular type of cuisine in mind...
Packing leftovers at the table - Is it just me?
I think my mind went to "garbage" because watching her scrape off the plate with my fork made me think of dumping food in the trash....
Packing leftovers at the table - Is it just me?
Last night, I went out to dinner (Bertucci's) and since I couldn't finish my entree, I told our server that I would like to bring it home. She brought a styrofoam container to our table and picked up my plate and fork, and scraped the food right there into the container for me. It looked like she was scraping food into the trash, and the food then immediately became labeled "garbage" in my head. Totally lost my appetite.
Am I being oversensitive? Have you seen this happen and thought it was okay (or disgusting)?
Wakefield, MA- Pizza black hole
Does anyone know what happened to Corner Deli? It's been closed for a while......
Trader Joe's Holiday Items. What are you looking forward to? [old]
Has anyone tried TJ's frozen Buche de Noel? I saw it in the store today, but the picture on the box looked so unappetizing (well, a lot like meatloaf) that it scared me away from buying it. I'd love to know if it tastes better than it looks.
New Haven Area Restaurant for Family Rendezvous?
Would Lenny's in Branford be a good choice?

Where should we eat near BU?
I'm looking for a casual (read: cheap) week night dinner on the BU campus. Any suggestions? Could be BBQ, Italian, Burgers, Deli, etc.
New Haven Area Restaurant for Family Rendezvous?
I am planning to come from Boston to meet with NY family for a weekend lunch in the New Haven area (sorta kinda half way between us). We will be 3 generations - my teenagers and my 80-something parents. I am looking for a restaurant that will be comfortable for my parents - easy parking, not noisy or with an overstimulating atmosphere, and wheelchair accessible. We'd like to be able to linger over a long lunch. We'd be happy with American Comfort-y food, Italian, or Seafood. Any suggestions? We're kind of flexible on location. The NY family can drive about 1-1/2 hrs from Long Island, the Boston family is willing to drive more.
New to Melrose...
I have had nothing but bad experiences at Stearns & Hills, the atmosphere and service were really unpleasant - enough to negate the food, which was relatively okay.
My vote would be for Bobby C's near Oak Grove. Their food (mostly Italian) is excellent, and their service is also very pleasant.
Sam's at Louis
Has anyone been to Sam's - the restaurant at Louis' new location at Fan Pier? I think it just opened.
Center City-ish Dinner & Brunch Recs?
We will be visiting Philly this weekend and are looking for suggestions for dinner and brunch in the center city area. We have two teenagers with us and would like something casual - maybe italian, seafood, great burgers, etc?
Solid takeout Thai
We ordered take out last night as well. We got pad thai and mango curry. It was definitely better than Duck Walk, and I'm sure we will go again. They were a little backed up on orders, but since they just opened I'm sure they still need to iron out their timing.
Melrose - 2 New Restaurants
Anyone have info on 2 new restaurants in Melrose?
1) Alfredo's Italian Kitchen looks to be already open in Cedar Perk's old space. From a drive by, I can't tell if it is just another sub shop, or something more.
2) Thai restaurant (not sure of the name) opening up near the Highlands train station. Could this take the place of Duck Walk in Wakefield, which has really gone downhill lately?
