How would you use Truffle Butter?
I'm eating some truffle butter right now on top of fresh bread and it's delicious.
What to do with Saba
Nice idea Dean! Now that I think about it, the taste of Saba would go great with a pork loin. I'll make this dish in the next few days and let you know how it turns out.
What to do with Saba
I bought a bottle of Saba on impulse several months ago and it has been laying in my pantry looking for a purpose. Yesterday I had the idea of pouring it over some fresh ricotta cheese and sprinkling it with pistachios, and it was heavenly! I can't get enough of it!
Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions what else I can do with Saba? Gracias!

Cafe Annie? nice! I hope you were able to expense the dinner. Next time, for a cheap lunch and what in my opinion is one of the best restaurants in Houston try Himalaya. It's a pakistani restaurant, it's cheap, and it's ugly, but my other foodie friends will agree, it's one of Houston's best.

Cool. Let us know what you think of the store when you go!
Houston - Supermarket bacon recs?
Hi Leo, not sure how far you are from The Woodlands, but there is a new market in called Hubell and Hudson that has a good deli and specialty meat section. Last trip I went I saw some nice slab bacon and it looked of very high quality. I made a mental note to get that next time I make a stew or pasta carbonara. You can find the website through Google. Good luck!

I second CCbob56 and recommend Himalay. It;s a little ugly when you go in, but the food is the best. Amazing they can turn out such authentic and flavorful in such an unexpected little restaurant. I like their lamb curry and the bryani
New foodie store in The Woodlands
They are open until pretty late, I think 10PM. I went today and got some cannelles from the bakery, which I have not seen or eaten in years. It was delicious!
Looking for Herbert's Houston Recommendations
Herbert's? Is that the meat market? If you are looking for good Cajun food, I would recommend the Ragin' Cajun on Richmond, or Pappadeux (although it's a bit chainy, their crawfish etoufee and their gumbo is pretty good)
New foodie store in The Woodlands
Friends, as a Houston transplant and foodie I have found heaven in The Woodlands. Hubbel and Hudson opened this week and in one five minute trip I bought some artisan salumi, wild boar prosciutto, a beautiful baguette, spanish anchovies, and tallegio cheese from Italy. The meat and seafood section was amazing!! Have any other foodies visited yet?! What did you think?
Black truffles suggestions
On my last trip to Central Market I finally broke down and bought some fresh black truffles. Now I'm debating what to do with them, I'm thinking of making some home made fresh pasta with a butter sauce, and shave some truffles on top. I think that's how Da Marco in Houston makes it. Any other suggestions?
The Melting Pot: worst dining experience of '08
I am no fan of The Melting Pot. The concept of paying money to cook my own food just doesn't appeal me. For the money you spend at The Melting Pot, you can buy a Fondue kit, some good quality cheese and crusty bread, and enjoy it at home with your own favorite bottle of wine.
coming to houston and need recs!!
Dolce Vita is close to the museum district and has authentic Italian food, great atmosphere, and the best pizza in Houston. I would also agree with Brasserie Max & Julie, or you can try it's little sister restaurant owned by the same people, Bistro Rabelais in The Village.
For a splurge, especially if company pays, Da Marco owned by the same people of Dolce Vita is very also very nice.
For a trendy place, with good food and atmosphere, Reef or Tafia in midtown are good.
[HOU] Looking for a place that has great food and a private room for 40th birthday dinner party
Have you considered Rioja? It's a Spanish tapas restaurant and it has a good private room that you can use. We had a party there once and loved the food, especially the paella.
