Westchester - any restaurants people DO like? Dinner for 4
1. Bedford Post Inn- beautiful decor and ambience, food is among the best in westchester by far, service is spotty. But one of a small handful of restaurants with NYC quality food.
2. Blue Hill at Stone Barns- I (respectfully) disagree with a prior post that Dan Barber's cooking is better in NYC. Ask for the farmer's tasting menu- they have obliged even when it's not offered on the menu that night. You will NOT be disappointed.
3. Tarry Lodge (Port Chester)- yeah, I know- Mario Batali is a sell-out, he's taking over the world, branding everything around him, blah blah blah. But if you want a great wine list and a really good pizza or pasta, this is your place. The bar is a more relaxed after work dinner option.
Mt Kisco restaurants
I haven't tried the Jamaican place, but I liked the Ethiopian restaurant a lot. I've been there for both dinner and lunch- lunch special is totally reasonable, at 11 dollars. It's small, the decor is pretty sparse and the acoustics are a bit loud- but the food is excellent. I had the siga wat- basically stewed cubed beef in a spicy chili sauce- delicious. My husband had the doro tibs (cubed chicken with onions/pepoers) and liked it as well. Their injera (basic pancake that is eaten with all dishes) is as good as I've had anywhere. The staff is friendly and helpful- I'm definitely psyched this place opened in my town.
Bedford/Mt. Kisco/Katonah area- looking for good pizza and good sushi
We moved to Bedford about a year ago, and have struggled to find a) good pizza and b) really fresh sushi. Anyone have recommendations for us?
roasting a 22 lb turkey- please advise
I am planning to roast a 22-24 lb free range, fresh (not frozen) organic turkey for Thanksgiving this year and would love some advice. I've never cooked one this big and would ideally like to brine it but can only find recipes for brining and cooking a 11-14 pounder. And I'm unsure of the temperature and appropriate cooking time for a tukey this size. Anyone tackled a bird this big that has some tips to share?
