steels tavern manor

Recently spent threee nights at this b&B. The inn is outstanding the inn keepers ray and Melisa are beyond
Great. The breakfast is unrivaled some of the best one could expect to experience anywhere. They are located between Staunton and Lexington VA . A great location for exploring the blue ridge and some of the more historic areas of the south. On a scale of 1 to10 they are easily 12 .

Vin 205 Wine Bar Winston Salem

We visited Vin 205 yesterday. What a pleasant surprise. There was a large selection of wines by the
glass, a nice selection of draft beer and bottled beer. The menu is diverse ranging from appetizers to
small plates to entrees. Prices are reasonable. Overall they provide an experience that is new and very enjoyable. If in Winston you should make a visit a must!

Hound s help needed spicy ranch dressing

Have searched the board and cannot find a good spicy ranch dressing. A local restaurant just adds
a hot sauce to their ranch. Would like to find something more tangy and tantalizing any ideas?

The district roof top bar and grill winston salem

Stopped in for lunch. They have just opened this week. The lunch menu was varied with reasonable
prices. We opted to sit downstairs. Later we were given a walk through by the owners. The bar and
rooftop bar add to Winston Salem something unique. Did scan the dinner menu and wine list. Both
are varied and reasonably priced. The food was excellent at lunch. Will go back and try them for dinner soon.

NY Kosher Deli Potato Salad

We have been researching NY deli style potato salad. There was a thread on Chowhound, and some
wrote that a lot of the deli's used Sally Sherman potato salad. No one seemed to be able to duplicate that recipe. Do any hounds know how to duplicate it. If not where can someone from
North Carolina buy Sally Sherman potato salad?

Eye of Round steak?

We buy eye of the round at Costco. Cut into individual steaks and vacuum pack. We thaw two steaks at a time. When thawed we marinate them in bourbon till the come to room temp.
We coat with Ms Dash extra spicy and grill. Can then be sliced thin and served over greens with a good vinagarette

Graduation in Winston-Salem

there is a hole in wall mexican on University Parkway called el sombrero, there are several
la carretas located around town. A little more upscale would be MIlners on Stratford Rd.
For different Q there is Bibbs downtown they have a variety of smoked meats. Another hole in
the wall mexican is la botano on Hanes Mill road in front of Wal Mart. Another suggestion would be Bleu located behind Village Tavern. Go Deacs

an easy appetizer: 8 ounces of cream cheese allowed to soften. cover with a can of back fin crab
meat. Then cover with cocktail sauce. We use horseradish, lime juice, ketchup, Worcestershire

Check out Captain Chuck-A-Muck on the net. Ate there last year. The seafood was great, the owner is outstanding and a lot of fun. It was featured awhile back on the food network

Pound of ground lamb--what to do

Here is a recipe from our local lamb farm. We have tried it and it is great. 1Lb ground lamb, 1 medium onion, 1/4 bunch fresh italian parsley, 1 1/2 tbsp olive oil, 1/3-1/2 cup fresh bread crumbs
salt, black pepper, 1/4 tsp all spice. Chop onion and parsley together in food processor-add ground lamb together with rest of ingredients. Mix well. Shape into long "hot dog shape" burgers
(1"X5") Grill, serve in pocket pita halves with yogurt sauce and cut up tomatoes
Yogurt Sauce:
Cucumber, yogurt, garlic mint olive oil salt
Tried this and the crowd went wild forgot serve with a cold beer

Mackerel?

There are several species of mackerel. In Hawaii they have ONO which on the east coast is
Whaoo. It is one of the best fish in the sea. The tail can be divided into small pieces that are outstanding fried or broiled. Here on the coast of North Carolina we take filets and brush them with olive oil, oregano, lemon and place on the grill. It usually does not make it to the table as our teenage children eat it as it comes off the grill. Hope you can find some!!!
