Food Truck
This is my 3rd trip to SF in 18 months and I have yet to give food trucks a try. Typically, I have my dining schedule down pat before arriving, but this time I am hoping to eat on the streets (mixing it up with dine-ins, of course). I will be in the Union Square area from Sunday to Thursday and in Stanford on Monday. Will only have a car on Monday, but will walk anywhere and/or use public transit. Any cuisine will do, just not all mexican. Suggestions?
A graduation trip for my daughter
This is a good question and I should have included it in my first post. We are fairly adventurous eaters, but prefer seafood and veggies to beef and game. We love great salads, seafood, unique sandwiches, sushi, creative chicken and so on. Heavy sauces, whether it be french or italian, are not our favorite. We are not crazy about spicy food, but enjoy herbal flavors. We enjoy good wine, but don't have a trained palate so a great wine list is not too important. We like fine food, but not necessarily fine dining. We feel atmosphere is an important part of the experience. I plan on a splurge meal ($200 or so), but would prefer to keep other dinners $100 or less and lunches around $30. Thanks
A graduation trip for my daughter
My father is generously giving his granddaughter, my daughter, a trip to SF for her college graduation gift. We live in NC and she has never been to the west coast (I have been to SF once). I am really the lucky one here, as I get to travel and experience it with her. We love good, 'clean', fresh food and i really want her to enjoy the fresh SF experience. We are flying in and going straight to Sonoma for one night, then hiking the Point Reyes area the next, then SF for 4 nights. We will need somewhere to have lunch once leaving SF heading to Sonoma. I am guessing on Girl and the Fig or El Dorado for dinner. Don't know about food in the Pt. Reyes area yet. From reading other posts, I get a good grasp of special dinner options, but would love some casual, good options for both lunch and dinner. Maybe even some with a fun atmosphere - anything to add to the celebration and trip. As always, it is fun to read the wonderful options, but it will be even more fun to try them! Thanks in advance!
Fresh seafood in Chapel Hill
I will trade: I am going to Boston for the weekend and would love suggestions from you. I live in Raleigh, but for Chapel Hill, I like Lantern on Franklin. Owner/Chef Angela Reussing is an avid member or 'slow food' - she uses and buys as much local/fresh as possible. You are not going to get the fresh, fresh like Boston. Whole Foods is your best bet to buy. If I think of more, I will post. Welcome to NC!
