Take Out Carne Adovada and Tamales in Santa Fe or Albuquerque El Modelo is at 1715 2nd St SW, Albuquerque NOT 4th street. I think El Modelo has the best Carne Adovada that can be bought in large quantities. Tamales were in NM before the 30's per mi abuelita's. |

Who's the best for shipping chiles? I would not use USPS again but... I have to say that my dad (from NM) once mailed me a big box of fresh green chile. The post office in Austin called me when they were closed and said I could come and pick up the box even though they were closed. They said it smelled so good they new I must be looking forward to it! I opened the box there and handed them a couple big hand fulls. I explained how to roast them. So I did have FANTASTIC service from USPS that one time... but wouldn't risk it again! |

Looking for "Supermex" type restaurant I didn't know what a "supermex" was (I won't 'splain my thoughts of a tights wearing sombrero wearing super hero). The menu lists ground beef burritos with NO meat??? I don't think you'l find meatless ground beef burritos anywhere else. |

Seeking recs. for large-group dining in Santa Fe Try Harry's roadhouse, they are "edge of town". They offer pizza, sandwiches, burgers, salads, pastas, Cajun and Asian cuisine as well as old fashioned comfort food. The desserts are GREAT! They offer a little for everyone, nice atmosphere. |

And nobody mentions the Owl Cafe in San Antonio NM? Since Bobcat Bites has only been around about 50 years, I think credit goes to many other sources. Belen Fiestas has had GCCBs decades before Bobcat bites ever existed. ANY place in NM has GCCBs. Geee Bobcat Bites burgers are good but there is no way that they are the ones who made it famous... That's like saying In and Out Burger made burgers famous. Just one of many many great places to get a green chile cheese burger. |

Anyone have their pizza? I stopped by there for the first time. I was on my bike so couldn't buy too much. The empanadas, cookies, and rolls were great. I look forward to trying the pizza. Anyone already tried? Or sandwiches? |

Need ABQ suggestions for New Mexican that serve dinner after 6pm Mary and Tito's is way better than Sadie's. I'd skip the drinks and just go for the food to Mary and Tito's. Last time I went to Sadie's I was unimpressed. It was ok but not the a great representation of NM food. I could name a half dozen fast food NM places that I felt had better food. |

Las Cruces-El Paso lunch / Tucson B-fast Highly recommend Chope's as well. It is, as stated above, a don't miss for a chowhound within 50 miles. About La Posada... uhhhh La posada ummmm uhhh kinda is not so good, to be polite... A place to grab a quick bite would be GoBurger (has burgers and full line of New Mexican) on Lohman in Las Cruces or the Pic Quick's ( a 7-11 type thing) has Santa Fe grill in them and the food (burritos and such) is FANTASTIC! I know you might think it's crazy to buy good food at a convienance store but it really is great!. Mesilla valley Kitchen is also great. It's on Lohman and it's a bit nicer sit down place than the Pic Quick or GoBurger. |

hahahaha, ok, I'm sure there are green chile pancakes somewhere out there, I just haven't seen them yet. ;-) |

except pancakes. |

WHO HAS THE BEST NEW MEXICAN FOOD!!!! And as someone said already, it's "posole". "Pisole" would be somethign else entirely and I'll pass on trying the "pisole" ;-) |

WHO HAS THE BEST NEW MEXICAN FOOD!!!! I TOTALLY agree with what Tenacity said. I haven't been to Perea's since I moved back to NM, I look forward to it though. My favorite since moving back is Mary & Tito's on 4th, the red there is just like my mom's. Oh, also the buffet at National Hispanic Cultural Center is a great bargain with some stellar items. The biscochitos there are sublime! Chope's in La Mesa has the BEST rellenos ANYWHERE. Kathy's carryout in the SW valley has wonderful burritos and the Kathy burger may be the best in town. |

BBQ Brisket - Texas style (PHX) Having lived in Austin 14 years, and having looked at El Paso Bar-B-Que Company menu, and having never eaten there... I would venture a guess that El Paso Bar-B-Que Company is not anything like Central TX BBQ. No Central TX BBQ place would offer Carolina style or St Luis Style. Do they just not have their own style? Sounds like a big box restraunt that applies lotsa sauce to mediocre "smoked" meat. But again, I've never stepped foot in the joint and unless someone here can convince me otherwise I probably will not. |

+1 for Mary and Tito's, but I have to add "or anything with the green sauce" ;-) Even better, just say Christmas and get half of each. |

Best eats in Durango? Interested in modest prices. I'll be doing a lot of skiing there this year and look forward to trying out lotsa places. Thanks. |

Carne Adovada in ABQ (or greater NM) Another vote for Mary and Tito's. Best NM food in Albuquerque. |
|

I agree with Desert Rat, Mary and Tito's in ABQ is the true "New Mexican". But for some reason no sopapillas there! They do have outstanding stuffed sopapillas but not plain ones. Oh well. |

Albuqueruqe: Places to buy NM Chile "There are three stores in Albuquerque called The Fruit Basket. Go and ask for the Lemitar Hot. :-) " The Lemitar hot may be in short supply. LOTS of flooding in Lemitar. Does anyone know how the crop is affected? |

Albuqueruqe: Places to buy NM Chile every grocery store in the state will have chile available. |
