Catered Thanksgiving

Logistical constraints will make cooking impossible this year. I'm looking for a good catered/prepared & delivered full turkey dinner. Any recommendations?

Piattini: Fantastico!

We have been searching for Gino & Enzo since they were forced out of neighborhood (Cafe Bussola on 4th Ave in Manhattan) 7 years ago. This Sunday we took a trip out to Floyd Bennett Field and stopped in for a late lunch on the way back. A very nice spot (4th Ave/99th) where we enjoyed a delighful meal. Jewish artichokes, some nice grilled shrimp, the fava beans, a couple of pastas, swordfish and the veal special - everything was delicious, and GIno and Enzo were wonderful hosts. Of course we saved a little room for some of Gino's gelato - out of this world. Bay Ridge is lucky to have them!

Italian Pastries

The Vermont cheese people at the USQ farmers' market (Bufala di Vermont?) make a fantastic canoli. They are only around on Fridays, although I have not seen them the last few times I looked :-(

Thnx - I got the address wrong, though. We'll be up at 19th Street.

Where to buy radicchio de Trevesio?

GOE carries it, as well. There's also a small stand at the USQ market (the guy who has the rabbits, and some other Italian vegetables) on Saturday....

Union Square..salad greens???

Those are the winter prices when almost everything has to be grown indoors. Spring/Summer/Fall is more reasonable, and, believe it or not, the greens are better! Also, I find Windfall's stuff lasts much longer w/o going bad....

Da Enzo closed for good

I called to make a reservation for tomorrow but the number was disconnected. Emailed and received this response: "Sorry the restaurant is closed for good." We live near Bussola's old spot and were very sorry to see it go. I had given up on ever tasting Gino's gelato again when I learned that Enzo had opened this place. Someone posted that they ate there last Saturday and had a wonderful meal. Does anyone know what happened?

Best Wine Shop in nyc?

Well, for a long time there was no delivery charge. Then one day they said there was, so I said 'keep your wine' and stormed out (this is after wasting a good 20 minutes while they tried to figure out how there computer worked). When I got home there was a message form the store saying that they would waive the charge because I was an old customer. It seems like they may have discontinued charging for delivery - maybe I'm responsibel!

12th & University tonight -- walk-in, 5 people -- ideas?

Borgo Antico on 13th, and a block west, Trattoria Maurizio, are both solid and will be able to accomodate you. Otto (8th & 5th Ave.) might be good if you don't mind standing around one of the high marble 'tables' - quartinos & antipasti....

The Knickerbocker is also a good choice for burgers - you night be able to squeeze in the bar area....

I like the Mexican palce (Mama Mexico?) on 12th just west of B'dwy - try and get there before 8. Across the street is Piola for pizza....
