What may be the best fried chicken in the New York area, while not in Westchester, is really not too far either. Charles Country Pan Fried Chicken on 151st and Frederick Douglas Blvd. is all you need to know. And while the fried chicken is the clear star, all the food is delicious. A $13 AYCE lunch gets you unlimited fried chicken, smothered pork chops, smothered turkey legs, ribs, collard greens, mac n cheese, green beans, okra stew, rice and peas, among others. Just had it this past Saturday, and it took me about a half hour from Sleepy Hollow. Well worth it...

I think a great place for this type of thing is the lobby lounge in the Ritz. A very nice, relaxed setting - couches, etc - with a nice menu of small bites and sandwiches offered all day.

Los Abuelos in Ossining - while I haven't been to all Mexican restaurants in Westchetser (and I know there are some good ones in Port Chester) it is probably the best I've been to. Sunshine Deli in White Plains too - although from what I understand they are closing.

I got one! Sunset Grille in White Plains. Excellent little Mexican on Gedney Way that was only opened for about 1 1/2 years, shut due to some problem with the landlord, and never reopened. Boy do I miss that place...

Lolita in Byram and Bellota atop the Ritz in WP are my top picks for fun places with good food and drinks. Cookery is possibly the best food in Westchester though (my opinion!), and can be fun (and loud). No reservations for parties less than 6 though

Suggestions for Lunch in Tarrytown?

Bridge View Tavern on Beekman Ave. in Sleepy Hollow is a must try! Food is excellent - great burgers, salads, and interesting takes on other bar staples. They have a great bar, but also a separate dining room. For me, this is the best undiscovered restaurant in the area.

In Woodstock, minutes from Levon's (I have been multiple times) is an excellent little restaurant called Violette (www.violettewoodstock.com) - interesting eclectic mix of dishes all prepared wonderfully using fresh ingredients. Love this place.

Peniche, or Why do all the places I like go downhill?

I too used to love Peniche. Haven't been in a while to say I don't love it anymore, but based on recent reviews, probably not. I am also baffled by the fact that they haven't fixed the sign yet, and the website has been down forever. It really makes you wonder if they have any passion for the place anymore. Seems like not.

My wife and I actually love doing lunch in the Ritz Carlton lobby. It is lovely there and they have some good lunch options - sandwiches, burgers, etc. It lends to a very relaxing, nice time.

BRIDGE VIEW TAVERN, SLEEPY HOLLOW NY

This is a great addition to the area. Since first trying this place a couple of months ago, my wife and I have been back on nearly a weekly basis. The food is very good, and reasonably priced. I love the salads, particularly the Harvest with goat cheese, candied walnuts, and dried cranberries - throw in grilled chicken (a heaping portion), and it's a steal at $12. The burgers here are incredible too. I look forward to expanding out on the menu.
