Steaks in San Antonio
We are staying near the Riverwalk and would like to have a famed Texas steak. Any suggestions?
Road trip from Atlanta to Arlington and back
We are heading out tomorrow morning with your list pasted to the front page of our travel folder. To date, we are staying in Highlands, Asheville and Blowing Rock. The rest of the trip is open until we get to DC. Great advice from everyone, thanks.
Sushi now that MF Buckhead is closed???
Don't know if it's the best, but Blue Fin on Peachtree Road was recommended to us by a native from Tokyo who didn't trust any restaurant not owned by Japanese.. We thought it was pretty good
Road trip from Atlanta to Arlington and back
Picked up the magazine Our State and will now spend time in Asheville and Blowing Rock (wine fest.) We are also looking for an overnight near good hiking trails in those areas as well as good eats.
Road trip from Atlanta to Arlington and back
Thanks, this is good information and advice
Road trip from Atlanta to Arlington and back
We are planning a trip in April from Atlanta to Asheville, Charlottesville and Arlington. We will return to Atlanta from Arlington via a more eastern route. We have all the time we need and would like to know if there are any places the Board would recommend along this route. We will spend some time in the Va wine country and Asheville both of whom have many recommendations for restaurants. But what about the small, perhaps, out of the way destinations that we should not miss?
We spent 40 years in Europe and will spend, hopefully, the next 20 years seeing America. We used Chowhound to travel across the northern section of Florida, up the Georgia Coast to Charleston and loved it.
We are looking forward to the wine and food of the Carolinas and Virgina. All suggestions appreciated.
Need Rec for Foodie Stores
Found everything I needed at Whole Foods plus had a slice of deep dish pizza (surpize, I liked it), savory pies from a new place near the airport and, the best of all, a dinner at the Girl and the Goat. Their peppers and octopus appetizers were excellent. I will return.
How to find good restaurants in Atlanta /Georgia
Thank you. This is excellent advice.
How to find good restaurants in Atlanta /Georgia
We tried the wine and liked it very much. We have lived in the area now for five months and I have relied on Chowhound, the Atlanta Magazine, Southern Living and a few Georgia guidebooks as well as Ga PBS. We have found Buford Hwy, brunch at the Ritz, DeKalb food market, local farmers in our area , and enjoyed a great trip up the Georgia Coast to Charleston. Good eating all the way using Chowhound as our guide.
We do miss our meals in Belgium and the trips to Italy but there is a lot to be said for buying what is local and eating at places with an established reputation. I am, however, still trying to like collard greens.
Need Rec for Foodie Stores
I will be visiting my cousin in Feb. and want to cook him and his partner a fine meal. I will need to shop for smoked salmon, free range chicken, tarragon, creme fraiche, etc. He lives near Division St. and I would appreciate any shopping tips you can give me. In addition, a recommendation for an up-scale Italian restaurant would also be appreciated.
Your opinion on BEST Brunch in ATL? (price & location not a factor)
They do and it is excellent. The dessert table had crepes filled with pumpkin that were the best ever. Great recommendation
First time to Mexico
We like historical sites, museums, beaches and markets. Night life is not important although we would like a variety of restaurants to sample in the area of the hotel. Thanks
First time to Mexico
I know and I hesitated to even post this. I started searching on the web and Chowhound but absolutley nothing is familiar to us. We lived in Europe for 40 years, have just moved back to the Atlanta area and want to explore Mexico. No sure where to start but we love good food and want our first experience to be encouragng. I did research the Yucatan and that does look like a good place to start.
First time to Mexico
We would like to spend some time this winter on the east coast of Mexico preferably near the ocean and in a location noted for its good restaurants. It can be a resort with a good kitchen or a town full of good eats. We are willing to consider all price ranges. Suggestions appreciated.
Excursion into Atlanta
Went to DeKalb market last week and had a great time; also best prices for Cava we have found. Will certainly go back and hit Southern Sweets and Cooks, thanks
Excursion into Atlanta
Thanks, good suggestion and not a part of Atlanta I have explored so I am looking forward to it.
Excursion into Atlanta
Next week, I will drive into Atlanta to find a good discount wine store, food emporium and kitchen equipment store to furnish my new house in PTC. This will, of course, include lunch. If you have any suggestions for places to shop and restaurants near by, it would be appreciated.
Lunch stop between Charleston and Atlanta
Have a trip planned from Jacksonville, Fl to Atlanta via Savannah and Charleston this September. I found recommendations for food on this site for everywhere except the Charleston to Atlanta leg. We will probably take portions of HWY 26 and 20 to get back. Any recommendations for lunch along the way?
How to find good restaurants in Atlanta /Georgia
Update: On a three day trip to PTC this May, we tried Grind and Wine and I had my first fish taco; very impressive. We move back next month and have the Serenbe area on our list. I think I will make a journal of our finds and get back to those of you interested in good eating south of Atlanta.
The other challenge we found is to find a good house wine for less than $8. We usually drink Languedoc wines at home but those are not affordable in the States. We are not familiar with the South American wines and will be exploring those and other reasonably priced wines.
Peachtree City
Search under Finding Good Resaturants for Atlanta/Georgia for suggestions foodies gave me.
Grad at 1130, airport 1500, lunch???
I checked the grad info and it appears we will be finished at 1130-1200, not start at 1130. That obviously gives us more time for lunch.
Grad at 1130, airport 1500, lunch???
We will be at our son's graduation at GWU on the 15th. We have been told grad starts at 1130, however, we have to catch a taxi at 1500 to IAD for a flight home. Where can we get a nice lunch in the GWU area and make our flight?
Two weeks in Benelux
Wow, I only live 30 minutes away and learned a few things, thanks. I too, by the way, recommend Sofa which we found last month.
Coffee and fish in Istanbul
We just got back from Istanbul and want to share the best coffee and fish restaurants we visited. Both were recommended to us by a resident of the city.
Coffee:With your back to the catholic church on Istikal, look for a small alley way across the street to your right. There is no street name and the coffee shop is the second or third on the left (or, from the top of the alley, the second shop on the right.) It is a hole in the wall with only room for about six people inside. Most everyone sits outside the shop and it is the best coffee I have ever had, ever.
Fish:Off Besiktas street is a fish market surrounded by several restaurants. We ate at two of them and it was memorable.
Le Grand Cerf btw Epernay and Reims - worth going?
We are going to Le Grand Cerf in April but we have eaten at all the Michelin recommended restaurants in Epernay and were not disappointed. Also check out the Logis restaurants in the area with the top kitchen ratings.
Two weeks in Benelux
If you want to venture out of the cities, go to Magis in Tongeren or de Leuf near Heerlen. Spend a day in Maastricht which is loaded with quality restaurants.

Thanks for the suggestions. I know we will have to make adjustments but we are up to the challenge.
