Great NY Noodletown - favorite dishes? I love the pan fried noodle dishes, especially with the fish. The combination ofthe crispy and soft noodles with the vegetables and fish are delicious. A must for all dishes at noodletown is the little-known scallion ginger sauce they serve on the side fo some dishes. It comes in a very small shallow dish so ask for a small bowl of it which cost $2 more. well worth it if you like salty, gingery stuff in oil. All of the BBQ stuff is great. The roast pork, baby pig, suckling pig and duck over rice with the ginger/scallion sauce. Sometimes I get some thing simple which is still delicious. Something like thier beef with broccoli (ask for chines broccoli) in oyster sauce. The ginger sauce on top too. |

I'll give another vote for Zum Stamtisch. Excellent food and great beers. |

I'm new to the boards so forgive me if this place has been posted, but I thought it worth mentioning again if it has. It's called Florent and is down around the meatpacking district. Excellent food, although it is usually very crowded and noisy. The food is fantastic no matter what you order, but since I'm a creature of habit, I usually go with the crab cakes or the steak and fries. You definately won't go wrong here. |

I disagree with what the above psoter said about Zen Palate. Very good cheap vegetarian food. Maybe it's what you ordered. Also try a place called Vegetarians Paradise 2 or VP2. They are located on west 4th and 6th ave. Here's their website - www.vp2-nyc.com |

Chinatown Cart @ Hester and Bowery -- Gone?! Theres another place on Canal which sells cheap stuff out of a cart. Everything is a dollar. Rice noodles, 3 spring rolls, lo mein, chinese pancakes, fried chicken, and some other stuff. down canal, maybe like 2-3 blocks from the manhattan bridge on the left side going down towards the tunnel. It might be right in front of a bank. |

Try NY Noodletown which is located in Chinatown on the corner of Bowery and Bayard. Super cheap food, not the best service but the food is cheap and really good. A rice and meat dish will cost about $3.50. Their noodle soups are outstanding too. Also, ask for some of their ginger-scallion sauce, it goes great with any meat dish and tastes terrific. There's usually a small wait for a table but worth it. They're also open everyday until 4 AM, maybe 5 on weekends. |
