Heavenly Delights Persian Sweets in Richmond Hill: Awesome

I think it depends on the items that you get. I'm not a fan of their mousse and haven't tried the tart or any of the cutesy looking pastries. Next time you're there, try the flourless walnut cookies (persian), the eclair or the cheesecake?

Heavenly Delights Persian Sweets in Richmond Hill: Awesome

I think the closing hours are a bit in a flux - the owner / pastry chef used to open quite late, past 10 but I notice that they close earlier now. I'll try to mention it next time I go by. I'm not big into sweets but I try and get cakes from whenever I can - their cheesecake is made with fresh ingredients, and their eclairs are made with fresh butter.

Good Italian restaurant in Burlington?

Hi everyone,

I am staying in Burlington near Highway 403 and Burloak on a saturday and would like to know if there is a decent Italian restaurant that serves homestyle pasta within a 10-15 minute drive? We are planning to go around 6 pm, so a place that doesn't need reservations around that time would be good, too.

If "No Reservations" came to Toronto, where would Anthony Bourdain go?

I would take different approach to this. To pitch Toronto as a place interesting for him to visit, why not emphasize the huge variety of home-style cooking restaurants that are all over the city (and slightly outside)? Some of my favourite places are mom-and-pop shops that serve home-cooked, unpretentious but yummy foods ... from all over the world! What comes to my mind are places like the Roti shops near Honest Eds that I used to go to as a student, the Indian / African take-out place in Richmond Hill that a couple of seniors are running, my favourite Thai place that a mother runs with her two kids in a tiny space in North York, many of those Korean late-night family style restaurants on Yonge & Finch (complete with Karaoke rooms next door) etc... Isn't that the big plus about living in the GTA?

Ladies and Gentlemen.....The new Champ Pizzeria Libretto

I just went for the first time a few weeks ago... to be honest, I had never heard of the place but I got a recommendation from my favourite boutique owner on queen and decided to go on a saturday at 5:30 pm. You'd think it's be quite empty, right? Nope - we had to wait about 5 minutes and the entire restaurant was already full. The lines were longer when we were done eating. My friend and I both had the prix fix (we had the bruschetta, the Caprese salad, the wild mushroom and the homemade sausage and caramelized onion pizza, then the parfait and the Panna Cotta), and it's a good deal, but next time I'd probably stick to pizza and my own choice of appetizer since I'm not a big dessert person and would always choose an extra appetizer over dessert... the salami platter and the calamari that our table neighbours had looked very tasty.

The pizza was incredible! Now I'm hellbent on bringing a couple of my Italian-background friends so they can try it.... can't wait to see their faces!

Good steak around north Toronto/GTA?

That's my go-to place for steak - I have been there a few times but now I mainly go because of the steak, the ribs and piri piri chicken are ok, but the steaks have a great flavour and are well-prepared - plus, they have an excellent wine selection. A bit too far for me at times to go since I live in Richmond Hill, so I am looking for a slightly closer place as well.

German Restaurant

Not sure if it's too north / not German enough, Graystones in Aurora serves decent Schnitzel and other Austrian / South-German fare like Sauerbraten and Spaetzle.

Breakfast near Exhibition Place?

I've been wrecking my brains but cannot seem to come up with a decent place close to the exhibition place for early breakfast on a weekend morning - any suggestions?

Ajisen Ramen in TORONTO

Ajisen Ramen opened another branch in GTA, this time in North York, just a couple of blocks north of the North York Civic Centre (5229 Yonge). They have only been open for a few weeks at this location, but I have seen it and been curious about it, so I finally wandered in there on friday. We were only going to stop and get take out but we were easily persuaded to stay and had great noodle soups (Kimchi Beef Teppanyaki and Curry Deep Fried Pork). Both broths were excellent (which to me is the critical taste factor), and the texture of the ramen was better than any I have eaten so far (I hate the standard udon noodle soup they serve at the restaurants here and the dried ramen they sell in supermarkets does not compare).

I think along with the Korean pork bone soup & fish stews and the newly opened Vietnamese Pho restaurant, the Yonge strip between Finch and Sheppard should be officially renamed soupland.

Where are the juicy baby back ribs in Toronto????

I just went there a few weeks back in August - very tasty ribs, but to be honest, they weren't quite as fall-off-the-bones as I had expected. Great service and great BBQ sauce. There is a place where you can rent kayaks / canoes close by, so it's actually worth doing a kayak / rib day. And yes, the cornbread is VERY tasty.

Alsatian food?

Besides Thuet, are there any places in South Ontario that offer Alsatian classics like Tarte Flambee, onion tart or Chicken in Riesling? I have a craving for it and wanted to show some friends that tarte flambee tastes incredible, despite the use of cream...
