Lobster Rolls on the Cape

As of last summer, Moby Dicks in Wellfleet is my fav

Quick bite pre-movie, close to AMC Danbury

You can try Blu on 7 across from Stew's. You might be able to get in and out in 45 minutes. I really like Rizzuto's on route 6 across from Target, but I don't know if 45 minutes is enough time to get there and back with dinner...

Olean, NY suggestions, please

Beef -n-Barrel is still open, pretty good steak for the area and extensive beef menu.

The Old Library is also a good choice, especially if the company is paying! http://www.oldlibraryrestaurant.com/restaurant.html
If you want something different, try Attards. It is not what you would expect to find in upstate NY! Great Lebanese food...

Hot Dogs in FFD County

my plan of action is getting my dog and soda as soon as I get there, eating it while I write out my shopping list and then getting my refill on the way out...

The only place to go in Monroe, CT

We go to Carl Anthony's ever few months. The food is usually very good and when I use a coupon, (they are on restaurant.com) I feel like I getting a GREAT value.

What about the Smithy for steak? I have to try Julian's one of these days, I keep hearing really good things about it. Don't forget, Monroe has really good mexician, El Coyote!
I know it's not in Monroe, but New Wok in Newtown has really good Chinese (same plaza as Stop & Shop). We are suppose to be meeting friends at 707 on Main for dinner this weekend. We have never been there, any thoughts??

Hot Dogs in FFD County

Costco also gets my vote!!! Runner up for me is Botsford up here in Newtown (yes, this is still FFD county!!) extra kuddo's that it has a drive thru so I don't have to get out of the car with the kids...

Mother's Day Salad Ideas

I made this over the weekend and it was really good! My husband asked that I make it again during the week when we have some friends over...

The grilled ceasar wedge salad also sounds good!

subsitute for sherry vinegar?

About a year ago I started making my own simple salad dressing with olive oil, sherry vinegar and s&p. Well fast forward to yesterday when I go shopping for more sherry vinegar and can't find it in any of the three grocery stores in town...I don't like balsamic vinegar, so what should I get to replace it?

Revisiting Mediterran Food Fairfield, Danbury & Bridgeport ??

I don't want to recommend what to order, because everybody's taste is different, but I can recommend these three places as I have enjoyed many meals at them...
Sesame Seed, Danbury-Casual, fun, sit down restaurant
http://sesameseedrestaurant.com/index.html
Hanna's Restaurant/Market, also in Danbury-small restaurant attached to a middle eastern market. Great place to go if you are looking to have something to eat, as well as do some shopping!

Cape Cod

My fav restaurant on the Cape is Moby Dick's right on route 6 in Wellfleet! It fits into your "casual, local, fresh seafood" category. It opens May 1st and is byob...

Cold Spring, NY?

Wrong Cold Spring!! There is Cold Spring, NY, which is on the Hudson and Cold Spring Harbor, NY, which is on the Long Island Sound...the above post was for the one on the Hudson! You can still drive there, but go north instead of east!

Chili Cookoffs in CT?

Thanks for posting this. Now I have to figure out where to go!!! Last year we went to John Michaels. I think last year X2O offered things that weren't on their regular menu, but people still enjoyed it.

Sushi in CT--let's talk about our favorite places

Toro in Newtown is the best around here!

Help us Philadelphians find an excellent Norwalk/Stamford area dinner?

Some suggestions would be Bistro Bunne Nuit and Roger Sherman Inn, both in New Canaan. Also, Schoolhouse at Cannondale in Wilton. Post on the tristate board and you will probably get more recs.

Enjoy!

anything new in/around Newtown CT?

trying to find a moderately price place for burgers/wings/salads...any ideas? Anybody have news on the old Red Brick Tavern in Sandy Hook? They have been renovating for a while now.

Brunch in Danbury CT $15-20 pp... Ideas Needed

I know Rizzuto's in Bethel (next exit east on 84 after Danbury) is going to start serving Sunday brunch, but I don't know if they are YET...even if they don't have their brunch menu, they do serve a great lunch!

Shower locations in CT

In addition to the above, I would try Mona Lisa. Their food has improved over the past few months and they have room for a private party...something a little different would be El Coyote in Monroe. We recently attended a private party there and it was a blast!

Where to eat in Hartford?

I would post this on the New England board, you will hopefully get some responses!

simple roast beef recipe - not standing rib

med rare! if you are using a meat therm, be aware that after you remove the roast from the oven, the temp will rise 5-10 degrees...

simple roast beef recipe - not standing rib

Eye Round! Bring to room temp, season with salt, pepper & italian seasoning. Roast for 20 minutes lb/at 375. Let rest for 15 to 20 minutes before you slice...I usually start off with one about 3 lbs and roast for 1 hr.

Edamame Help!

I purchased a package of cooked and ready to eat edamames at Costco the other day for a party we were having over the weekend. Somebody else brought some, so mine were never put out. Can I freeze them to enjoy at a later time, or do I need to eat them asap. There is a sticker on them with the date "12.15.08"

http://www.silvermansfarm.com/

Waterfront dining in Cape Cod

They are only open until Monday (Labor Day), but you should try to get to The Beachcomber, right at Cahoon Hollow Beach in Wellfleet!
