happy hour in Costa Mesa
We ended up going to Mesa. Probably spent more than we should on really just okay food and $10 glasses of wine!
happy hour in Costa Mesa
I actually like Z Tejas' happy hour, but I've done it a lot, so was looking for other suggestion. I noticed Ecco's bar specials last time I was there, but couldn't find any mention of it on their website. We are also considering Mesa's $20 menu. I think we're going to just stroll around the camp and compare what they have with Valhalla's menu. I'd love to try Pizzeria Ortica just to compare it with Ecco, but we're looking for something at 6:30. Glad to have what I was thinking about confirmed!
happy hour in Costa Mesa
Looking for a good happy hour in Costa Mesa area. None of the places at the Lab or Camp seem to do a happy hour. Can anyone help with suggestions?
Suggestions for sushi in Orange County??
We'll be on a double date with friends from LA, and need some good sushi recommendations. We'll be in Newport Coast area, but can drive a little ways. We've been to Cafe 242 Fusion, but our friends thought they were a bit "snooty." Is there anywhere else that's as good, but maybe more welcoming to sushi neophytes? Thanks!
dinner rec for an ex-Austinite in town for weekend?
I haven't been to Austin in around 8 years and I don't know what's good anymore! I'll be meeting old college roommates and am hoping to set up dinner somewhere where the food is good and the ambience pure Austin. I need something more grown up than Chuy's or Baby A's which was basically my budget limit back in school...any cuisine is fine and we don't need anything too fancy. Thanks!
Dolce Monachelli's delicious bundt cake
The cakes are also sold at the Laguna Niguel farmers' market on Sundays (9:00-1:00). We have been buying the cakes for a couple of years now. Have to agree that the Italian Butter Rum is the stand out.
Inexpensive Deliciousness in Las Vegas
I love inexpensive deliciousness! (**disclaimer --double check if these are still in business! )
Here are the places my husband and I look forward to eating at when we're in town:
Tropicana Cafe --good Cuban on the Strip near Howard Johnson's.
Chin Chin Cafe -- in NY, NY casino --offshoot of LA restaurant that's got good Chinese food, not Authentic, but tasty and fresh
Canter's Deli --in Treasure Island --haven't been to this one, but we go to the one in LA for its corned beef and reubens
The buffet at Paris is around $25 and food is surprisingly good
I haven't eaten there, but have heard that Battista's (right behind the Flamingo Hilton) is good and you can eat there with unlimited house wine for $25
Z-Tejas is right behind the strip and has good Southwest cuisine --check if they do 1/2 price appetizers from 4 to 6 --you can make a fantastic meal with drink for $15 out of really generous appetizers.....

Restaurant with no/minimal corkage?
We'd already splurged a bit on the bottle, that's why I was hoping to avoid paying more, but your point is well taken. Can anyone recommend what to eat at Marche Moderne? We may try Bandera's in Corona del Mar, based on the above thread.

Restaurant with no/minimal corkage?
I'd like to take my husband out to dinner for his birthday and drink a wine that we bought in Napa. Any suggestions of good places with low corkage fees? Any cuisine is fine, not too pricey, though. We live in Orange County, but are willing to drive in to LA --that's where all our favorite places are anyways!
