Pork belly recipes?
Deltajuliet don't know if this would help since you asked six months ago and you live in NC but my husband and I just returned from Atlanta where we bought beautiful pork belly from DeKalb Farmers Market on Ponce de Leon Blvd. for $3.99 lb. We live three hours from Atlanta but we go shopping a couple times a year and always make a point of stopping in. The place is amazing IMO.
A third milk thread: why in the world do people buy skim or low-fat milk?
I used to drink 2% milk until I figured out that by the time that milk is ultra pasteurized it's been heated to the nth degree and everything in it that's good for you is dead. So I switched to raw milk and have been much happier ever since.
What do you bring to nosh on when you travel by airplane?
You can bring food on planes? Last time we flew in September there was a big sign that you couldn't bring food or water from the "outside" in Terrorist Land.
What odd or unusual foods to you eat?
My Dad loved Little Debbie marshmallow snack cakes with a slice of that preformed cheese food. Guess my taste comes from him.
This year my husband and I have gone offal crazy, we have eaten beef tongue, beef heart, beef kidneys, and will be receiving a whole pig's head for Thanksgiving. These cuts are so cheap and it's easy to get them at our farmer's market so we've grown to love them.
Drawn Butter vs. Margarine
You already have a life. You're saving us from what Tony Bourdain referred to as the end of the night leftovers once the breadcrumbs and cigarette butts had been strained out. Mmmmm tasty. My husband and I are those folks who don't put anything on our seafood except some lemon to make it taste good. I would recommend it to anyone. I always felt like after one bite with the "butter" especially in restaurants my tongue was coated and I couldn't taste anything else. Bleah.
