Palm Springs recs. for a birthday dinner

Hello:
I am taking someone close to me for dinner in Palm Springs and would love advice on where to go. I usually prefer a steakhouse but I am open to suggestions. For steak would LG's, The Falls or Chop House be the best choices?

Is Copley's still good? Johannes? Circa at the Riviera? As you can see I am going in all different directions and open to any suggestions?
Thanks for any advice on where you like to go in the area.

Palm Springs Thanksgiving Dinner

rzod333,
We are in PS for just a quick two nite get-away. We are going to eat 1 nite in our hotel at the Colony Palms. Breakfast at Cheeky's. Probably a lunch at Zin. Maybe a Mexican restaurant for dinner 1 nite, like La Terraza.
How about you?

PALM SPRINGS LUNCH

We'll be heading to PS for just a couple of nites. We have dinner planned at Purple Palm for Thanksgiving. Any thoughts on this?

We were undecided for lunch...going on the tram afterward so we were thinking of something where we wouldn't be tempted to drink before the tram. Otherwise we won't feel like going on that tram. Here is what we came up with. Any suggestions, much appreciated!!

Lunch ideas:
Cheeky's
Cowboy Way
Thai Smile
Kaiser Grille...probably would drink here!
Any other suggestions or toughts???
Thanks so much!

ANOTHER STEAK HOUSE POSTING

I have read through the previous posts and it seems like most on the board speak highly of Cut, Delmonico's, Carnevino, SW, Prime.
What about more of an old-school steakhouse?
About 6 years ago I was staying overnight at the Renaissance next to the Convention Center. I was surprised how incredible their steakhouse was. I think it is called Envy.
Where would anyone recommend either on the strip or off for a thick cut, large ribeye and incredible sides. A great martini and a terrific Ceaser salad.
Thanks

Brunch on way to Santa Ynez wine tasting recs.?

Need some advice. We will be heading up to SY for a day of wine tasting. We were thinking of stopping for brunch in Santa Barbara. Then we thought, we never have been to Cold Spring Tavern, maybe we should stop there instead. In SB we were thinking of either Stella Mare's, Tupelo Junction or Cajun Kitchen. Any advice?

For dinner, we have been to Trattoria Grappolo and we like it. Should we try Red Barn, instead?
Thank you!

Where to find organic, lightweight chickens?

Healthy Family raises their chickens outdoors. The chickens eat a diet of bugs, worms, grass and the farm mixes their own feed mixture without soy. They sprout the grains and legumes for digestibility. Their eggs and chickens are delicious! Honestly the people over at the other tables at the farmers' market selling eggs and poultry are not very specific about how the animals are raised. Go see Steven at Larchmont on Sunday for Healthy Family Farms. He is sooo knowledgeable, friendly and courteous. Larchmont is getting better vendors than they had in the past.

Where to find organic, lightweight chickens?

Healthy Family Farms is at Larchmont on Sunday. In addition to the other markets Bruce Kerr listed. The booth at Larchmont is managed by a knowledgeable, funny and really nice guy name Steven. In addition to outstanding chicken and eggs they sell beef, lamb and pork. The best pork chops I have ever had!! Thick cut and really mild taste.

NYer's HAVING 1 DINNER IN LA

Hello!
I have a couple of friends visiting me in a little over a week. We are having 1 dinner out and would appreciate your feedback. It is a Sunday nite. I reserved a table at AMMO. I wanted to keep the price for food at $40-$55pp. I have never been to AMMO. Should I keep it there or take them to Luques, Animal, Hatfield's or any suggestions in the Hollywood/West Hollywood area.
Thanks!

Santa Ynez wine

I have taken a few trips to the Santa Ynez area and I am planning to go back soon. I was wondering your opinion about your favorite wineries. I have a wine club membership at Koehler. I really love their sangiovese, viognier(one of the best whites I have had in a long time). Their prices seem pretty good. I also like Zaca Mesa's blends. Rusack's chardonay and pinot. Bridlewood's syrah's. Are there any that I am missing that are reasonable in price?I hear Gainey produces great wines at a good price. I didn't care for Beckman and Sunstone. On my next trip I was going to try Epiphany, Gainey, Foxen, Firestone, maybe Melville and Sanford. What do you think? Thank you!

Minneapolis Restaurant Recs.

Hi All:

BIG Juicy Reds...Russian River or Dry Creek

Thanks to all for your input. Whiner, I wrote down the wineries you sent to me on a former posting of mine. I am going to stick to RR. Thanks!

BIG Juicy Reds...Russian River or Dry Creek

I will have only 1 day to tour wineries. We will be staying in Russian River. Some on the site have suggested Hop-Kiln, Hartford, Mazocco. Should we focus the day on Russian River or Dry Creek. I love the Rhone varietals. Reds that have a big, strong start and a smooth finish. I love single varietals or blends of Mourvedre, Tannat, Petite Verdot, Grenache. Any suggestions?

Where to go? San Francisco and Guerneville

Kathleen:
Thanks for your reply. When I was checking out the menus, all 3 looked good. Applewood I think is closed on Sundays. That would be the day I would be going. My partner wants to go to the Kendall Jackson tomato festival. So, we only have 1 day for wineries and a dinner somewhere. What are some of your favorite wineries? I was probably going to do based on recs. Dutton-Goldfield, Ironhorse, Hartford. Any others I am missing?
Steven

Wineries in Russian River

I am heading up there next month. I will have 1 day to tour wineries. If I was going to stop at 4 wineries up there, which ones should I not miss? I love Rhone varietals, Pinots, Zin's. Any particular wineries you like?

Where to go? San Francisco and Guerneville

After I posted this, I remembered I have wanted to go to Perbacco. That is where we are going. Thank you to the both of you for replying. Whiner, I booked a table at Village Inn. Have you been? Farmhouse looks great! Thanks for your suggestion.

Where to go? San Francisco and Guerneville

Hello and Please Help.
I will be in SF for just 1 nite. I used to love to go to Incanto. Haven't been there in about 2 years. I am undecided to go back, with Chris Cosentino on food network, I wonder is the restaurant still good? I live in L.A. so to me Incanto is an outstanding Italian restaurant. So my question is I am undecided to go to Incanto or some place I haven't been yet, such as A16, SPQR, Quince, Fish and Farm, Spruce. Where do you SF eaters love to go? Also any suggestions for a nicer dining restaurant in the Russian River area?
