In 1975, I had Moroccan food for the first time. We dined at Dar Maghreb, an elegant Moroccan restaurant, in Los Angeles. I had never tasted anything like it! Moroccan food became a revelation to me.
My current drink of choice:
Oh... I dunno: a glass of pinot maybe.
I really wish I could:
Quit my job and attend cooking school to upgrade my entertaining skills.
My "Go-to" dinner party dish:
This winter I've been experimenting with braised ribs. I've made them a few times now - and they continue to elicit ohhhhs & ahhhs. But now that Spring is upon us, I'll have to brainstorm a different main course.
My favorite comfort food:
French onion soup gratinee. (But it must be prepared correctly with caramelized onions, the proper bread and cheese.) .
My top 5 favorite restaurants:
This list changes frequently. But our current list of go-to places includes: 1) Citrus Club in SF. 2) Mediterrean Delight in San Carlos 3) CreoLA in San Carlos 4) Chou Chou in SF.
My most tattered cookbooks:
1) The Way to Cook (Julia Child) 2) The Best Recipe by the Cook's Illustrated crew; 3) Any Cook's Illustrated magazine 4) Cooking in the Zone Cookbook. (Eating "zone" during the week allows us to splurge during the weekend and still maintain a healthy weight.)
