Any recommendations for Ocean Shores eateries?

One place that didn't get mentioned is Ocean Crest Resort in Moclips (maybe 40 minutes north of Ocean Shores). They have a fantastic wine menu and their seafood is great. The view from the dining room is gorgeous as well.

I'll second Steve on Parma, it's a hidden gem. They have great gnocchi and ravioli. Why this place is located in Aberdeen I'll never know.

Your Favorite Bakery...

My favorite bakery in Portland is hands down Baker and Spice. They specialize in artisan bread and pastries and pies. They are located in southwest Portland in a very unassuming strip mall. http://bakerandspicebakery.com/

The owner also recently release a book called Rustic Fruit Desserts (search Amazon for the title) which I just picked up.

Help With BA Italian Food

When my wife and I lived in Centro we went to D'Oro quite a bit, and we loved it. It is Italian food with an Argentinian twist. Everything I had was great, I particularly liked the amaretto ice cream dessert. It's worth checking out!

I have a attached a photo of the amaretto ice cream and some bruschetta from D'Oro.

I'll second the recommendation on Club 647, I loved it. I'm going back a second time tomorrow in fact.

Good luck!

Time to 'fess up: The Chow Booty Call

In my college days, it had to be the Cougar Burger from our local fast food joint, Cougar Country. It was a greasy compilation of ground beef, ham, lettuce, tomato and some greasy cheese for good measure. In that moment, there was nothing else that could have satisfied me more.

Since we eat dinner late in Argentina, I haven't had the opportunity to get one of those late night cravings...yet.

What goes in your pulled pork sandwich?

I'll have to go with #2. Great BBQ has to have slaw on the side.

Tapas in BA

Bistros aren't particularly popular here, since most cafés serve some kind of food (tartas, sandwiches, etc.). A lot of restaurants and bars will serve a tabla, which is usually ham, assorted cheeses, and some vegetables. One thing to look out for when you are ordering salad is that they will often give you vegetable oil. They usually have olive oil, but you just have to ask for it.

Unfortunately, I'm not familiar enough with that neighborhood for any recommendations close to where you are.

I attached a picture of a tabla from a restaurant in San Telmo (Estados Unidos 501 and Bolivar) called Territorio, which is somewhat close to where you are, but you'll need to take a cab.

Help Me Narrow My BA List

I haven't been to all the places you mention (perhaps I should since I live here!) but I can say definitively that you won't go wrong with the 647 Club. Be sure to stop at the bar and have a drink since their cocktails are fantastic as well.

Hidden gem in Aberdeen

I agree that is an excellent restaurant (it was Gabellis' but I think it was renamed to Parma). It was one of the few great places to eat when I lived in Aberdeen and is definetly a hidden gem in a rough logging town.

Another lesser known restaurant is the Ocean Crest Resort on highway 105. It is out on the coast 30 minutes north of Aberdeen. They have a stellar wine list and excellent fresh seafood. The view from the dining room overlooks the beach and is absolutely gorgeous.

Buenos Aires recommendations and dining partners

My wife and I are going to the 647 tonight. There have been so many rave reviews of it that I'm hoping that it lives up to the hype!

Best steak in Buenos Aires?

The best steak that I've had in Buenos Aires wasn't at a fancy restaurant. It was a place called El Desnivel in San Telmo. The restaurant can be described as "rough around the edges" but the lomo I had was fantastic. The only downside is that I think tourist guide around must point to this place because half of the patrons seemed to be British.

I have attached a photo of the beefy wonder I had.
