Montgomery Pizza and Wings

We're going to be in Montgomery on the night of the Super Bowl. We don't want to go out, just sit in the hotel and watch the game. Where is a good place to pick up some pizza and wings? Not sure of the hotel yet but I do know that we'll be coming from the area of Garrett Coliseum.

Sands Expo

We did end up eating at Grimaldi's. I've never had the NY version but this was pretty good. Didn't really care too much for the regular sauce pizza but the pesto was great.

We'll be at show from the 14th to the 17th at the Sands Expo. Recommendations for inexpensive places within walking distance would be great.

West side Thai

It doesn't have to be great, just good.

West side Thai

I'm in town for a few days and was hoping to find some decent Tom Yum. I'm in the west side of phx but I do have a rental car. The town I am from has horrible Thai restaurants, hoping to get something that is decent.

Soju in West Phoenix

I'm on the western side of Phoenix near Glendale. I'd like to find a store that sells soju by the bottle. I would be willing to drive a little. Does anyone know where I can find some? Thanks.

Grimaldi's - Peoria Park West

I meant to post this a few weeks ago but forgot. Then I read the article on them in the newspaper and it reminded me again. We were in the area and in the mood for pizza so we stopped in. We ordered two pizzas. One pepperoni and peppers. The other, sausage and mushroom. Blah! Neither one of them had any real flavor at all. The sausage pizza was watery. What would make it watery? I could get over that but what I didn't like was that there was nothing there to make the pizza actually taste good. The waitress kept stressing the "coal fired pizza" angle. I didn't think the crust had any taste either. I do have to say that I did like the cheese. Unfortunately it wasn't enough to make up for the bland sauce and meat toppings.

Brazilian steakhouses in Phoenix

We're coming back to Phoenix in December. My husband will be with me , so we plan to go then. Maybe they'll go with us. I think they would enjoy it.

I'm sorry to say but we're not going to either one of them. Apparently 23 miles is too far away. God forbid you drive more than 5 minutes to have some decent food and a different kind of dining experience. I did want to say that after talking to the manager at FEB, he agreed to let the gastric bypass patron pay the vegetarian rate which is $20.

All you can eat Sushi in Las Vegas?

We just ate at a place last night that I thought was really good. Kaya Sushi at 4355 W. Spring Mountain Rd. and it cost $23.

If one HAD to pick a buffet in Vegas...

I just wanted to add that the M might not limit the espresso bar anymore. When I ate there a few days ago, I made several trips. I know she recognized me because she made a comment about my last cup and asked how I liked it. I even got two cups at the same time for myself and to bring back to a dinning partner.

At 3. Two other separate couples showed up within 10 minutes. Most people started showing at 3:30. We're going to do the same thing this Wednesday.

Pizzeria Bianco- Reservations

I was just there and they had a sigh up announcing their 3 week spring break. I can't remember the exact dates but I'm pretty sure they will be closed on the 25th. I think the dates were from the 23rd to the 14th.

Rosa at Pizzeria Bianco

We went ahead and tried it. You are right, the cheese and onion are the dominate flavors. I could hardly even tell there was rosemary in it. We've now tried all of the pizza's at PB and this one is my least favorite. We probably won't order it again but I am glad that we tried it.

Pizzeria Bianco- Reservations

We ate there Tuesday night and were the very first people in line. There was only one group that showed up with reservations. Does anyone know if they limit reservations to only one group per night?

If one HAD to pick a buffet in Vegas...

I really liked the M buffet. I didn't taste anything that I didn't like and I loved the Kalbi. They also have beer and wine, some great desserts, and you can get espresso, cappuccino, or lattes. They'll also give you shots of Bailey's for your coffee. I enjoyed it more than Spice Market.

Rosa at Pizzeria Bianco

I was thinking that it would be the prominent flavor too. I was hoping that the rosemary just added to a wonderful flavorful combination but didn't dominate.

Rosa at Pizzeria Bianco

The last time we tried the Sonny Boy, Margherita, and Wiseguy. We're thinking about trying the Rosa this time but we both hate rosemary. Should we try it anyway? We're also thinking about trying the Biancoverde but adding some Prosciutto or maybe Salami. Does that sound good?

This is the only buffet in Las Vegas that I've eaten at and we enjoyed it. My friend wants to try the buffet at M while I am there this coming week. I'll let you know how it goes there.

I don't "get" Red Velvet Cake

I don't think the store bought cakes of today are the same as the ones our grandmothers used to make. I've never eaten a homemade Red Velvet cake but I was told that it takes a very long time to make.

Brazilian steakhouses in Phoenix

From looking at their websites, FEB looks like it is a litt;e more relaxed that FDC. There is going to be a lady in our party that had gastric bypass surgery so I am going to call and see how much they will charge for her.

Brazilian steakhouses in Phoenix

I've done a little looking around and so far have found two, Fogo de Chao and Fogo E Brasa. How are these two? Are there any others in the Phoenix area? I've never been to one before but I thought my father-in-law would enjoy going for his birthday dinner. From what I've read, you eat first at the cold or hot bars and then eat the meat. Can't you eat from the bars and have the meat at the same time? Thanks.

Vegas trip report

I'm a little late in posting this. But I did want to let everyone know how my recent trip to Las Vegas went.

Olives - This place has some good points and some bad. To start with I didn't like where we were sitting. There is a long booth style bench with tables in the center of the restaurant. I was very uncomfortable on the booth. Service was attentive. Now the food. We had the Tuna Carpaccio and I loved it. The Fig and Prosciutto flatbread was also very good. I also enjoyed the Butternut Squash Tortelli. The one dish that I did not enjoy at all was the Pan Seared Jumbo Sea Scallops. The scallops were just OK and the Mixed Mushroom Risotto was terrible. Not sure if I would go back. If I did, I would definitely try a few different flatbreads

Komol - I wanted to try LOS but my friend who's a local talked me into trying this place instead. He likes it better because he feels LOS cost more and is over hyped. I loved it here. Very good food. I wish I could remember what we ate. It's not because the food wasn't good but because I have a bad memory and I'm not familiar with the name of Thai dishes. I do still want to try LOS, maybe on my next trip.

Picasso - This was my first experience with high end dining and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was excellent and the service was wonderful. A server even walked me to the restroom instead of just pointing it out. We're not wine people but we decided to get the pairings, and I'm glad we did. Every glass was paired very nicely with the dishes we had.

Sushi on Tropicana - We went here for their ayce sushi. Their fish was fresh and their specialty rolls were good. However, I'm not that big of fan of the large, got everything on it roll. I ordered a few nigiri style sushi and the rice was really bad. I couldn't eat it. If you go here, don't get anything where the rice plays a large roll in the flavor. Service was very good here but we also the only people in the place at the time.

Bouchon - I tried to get here for breakfast but just couldn't get up early enough. I loved their mussels. The oysters were good too but not the best I've ever had. We had some type french style breakfast sandwiches. They were OK but not memorable and I thought they were a little greasy. What stood out to me was the experience of the man sitting next to me. We were at the bar so we could hear everything that was said. The man came in and told the bartender that he only had 20 minutes and what would he recommend. He recommended some kind of salad and the guy said ok. Something totally different came out and when the man said something, the bartender played dumb. I was like, you're the one who recommended it! I am going to go back here but try to get up earlier.

Planet Hollywood - We went here for the buffet. I know people talk junk about buffets but I like them. I enjoyed it here. If you like buffets, this would be a good one to try.

Are there any restaurants in Phoenix that serve either of these?

It doesn't have to be in the exact area. They do have a car. Or is the west side of Phoenix barren of any decent sushi or Thai?

LV steakhouse questions

So how do you think the quality and taste of the beef at CUT compares to some place like Circus Circus' The Steak House? Comparing nothing else except the meat.

LV steakhouse questions

I've always wanted to try prime dry aged steak so I thought my upcoming trip to Las Vegas would be a good opportunity. I'm thinking about going to CUT. It seems like most people on here like CUT, a few think it is over rated. But I was also thinking about Charlie Palmer Steak because I don't think I've seen a single negative comment about the place. Do they have dry aged beef? The website just says aged. Also, if I simply want a great tasting steak and don't really care about the decor or celebrity treatment service, would I be just as happy going to someplace like The Steak House at Circus Circus or Silverado Steakhouse? In terms of just the taste of the meat, is CUT better than some of the more reasonably priced restaurants?
