Last minute birthday dinner

Hi there,
I have to plan a last minute birthday dinner for three people on Friday night. We are starting out at the whiskey ward on the LES but food is still up for grabs. I'd like to stay in the neighborhood or the east village and preferably a place that can take reservations or I wouldn't have to wait too long.
Budget around 50-60/ a person including a drink or two
Thanks!

Great food near CitiField

The boyfriend (who grew up in NYC and inexplicably has never been to so many places or tried different types of food) and I are going to the 1 PM game on Thursday and we thought we'd run around Flushing afterwords? Any ideas for something that would be convenient? I prefer within walking distance just to avoid taking the subway one stop and then getting back on but a stop of two would be fine.
Thanks for your help!

Dinner tonight...8 Italian guys

Any suggestions?
No Italian and no Japanese (they've eaten it 2 nights in a row) plus no hamburgers as I suspect they're eating that every lunch and not telling me.
Something fun and including drinks under 50 a person
any ideas?
thanks!

Replacemnet for EMP's $28 lunch special??

Any ideas? It was my go to for an "extravagant" special for out of town friends. Any other great deals or specials?

Help me figure out the best eating strategy for our 3 day / 2 night trip

We're staying on St Charles between Canal and Poydras.
I thought one night taking a streetcar down and maybe a taxi back wouldn't be a bad idea but I'm open!
We live in NYC so we're used to walking tons and being exposed to all elements sans car.
That said I want to avoid the supreme touristy "they take you for a ride" type of place but i understand that it might have to happen for at least a couple meals.

Help me figure out the best eating strategy for our 3 day / 2 night trip

Hello all,
I was hoping you could help me figure out how best to plan it and if I'm going completely off base:
We arrive @ 9 AM on Wednesday morning and have an early evening flight out of Friday.
So only 2 dinners: I was recommended Jacques-imo's by a friend but this board appears not to be too impressed any other suggestions?
I was thinking the second night for Acme's for dinner and perhaps some fancy cocktails and snacks on a bit of our own bar crawl.
For lunch I have one day reserved for August's 3 course lunch, a day for po' boys and a day for...?
Also recommended was Elizabeth's restaurant, is that a better place for lunch or dinner?
Breakfasts besides Cafe du Monde?
We are budget but don't mind a splurge every so often as long as it deserves it but especially appreciate great happy hours or deals like August's.
Also I try to veer away from Italian focused as my boyfriend is from Italy and so I like to show him the flip side.
Basically anything you guys want to share would be appreciated!
Thank you so much for all your help

Affordable Omakase

thanks kathryn! is there a place i didn't name that would match?

Affordable Omakase

I would rather it be heavier on the nigiri or completely so but one or two other dishes are fine. It's really about how the omakase makes you feel special (or at least i do)
i would love to make reservations if i knew where to do so. also what about gari?

Affordable Omakase

can anybody help?

Affordable Omakase

Want to treat my boyfriend who loves sushi, I'm not even sure he knows that omakase exists :)
Anyway I am looking to spend 50-75 pp. But really for the best bang for your buck. In doing some reading is it between Jewel Bako, 15 east or azabu. What would you recommend? and since i was thinking of this for tonight would I need a reservation etc?
Thanks!

Best Indian E. Village

and again any better indian ideas are more than welcome!

Best Indian E. Village

I know! it was just the indian request...
don't worry katz's decibel and pdt are also on the list

Best Indian E. Village

haha! very true! It's just one of those "new york" experiences and when you're playing tour guide and they ask for indian...
any better ideas?

Best Indian E. Village

I can never remember which ones I liked or don't like so I'm looking for one of those that has wrapping paper for wall paper and christmas lights everywhere. Also if they're BYOB or not, thanks!

Great tapas in NYC?

I also love xunta in the east village

NYE dinner downtown?

that was a great idea and they ARE taking reservations with no prix fixe but they only have a 6 slot open grrrr

NYE dinner downtown?

so i made reservations at mermaid inn just as a place holder, they're doing a strange $45 set menu which looks like a good deal but I was hoping somebody had an idea of something that wouldn't be doing a set menu?

NYE dinner downtown?

yea I checked there first but nothing really jumped at me you know?
oh I forgot to mention we'd be 4 people

NYE dinner downtown?

Yes I know this is a very vague topic but here's the deal we have a party to go to in Soho but need to eat first and it's my friends' first time in ny (they're italian) so I would like a place within walking distance of soho so we don't have to worry about a cab (i.e. east village is fine), no italian food, not too pricey (~20 per entree or less please), something super cute only to be found in nyc, and where i can make a reservation. Thanks!!!!

baoguette - long lines?

Hey are there usually long lines or better yet how long does it really take to order and get the sandwich? Thanks!

HELP! Need quick dinner rec for tonight

I would recommend doing an opentable search for that many people.
On the other hand I ate at Eletteria (sp?) on 8th st and Macdougal and it was fantastic

Dinner tonight, above 100th on the East Side

maybe a little? she works on 116th so you know not that much farther. but if you know of something great share!

Dinner tonight, above 100th on the East Side

I know I am probably making this too hard and seeming too picky but just knowing her, she's not going to want to go out for pizza and the reviews on menupages for the other "american" style italian were not good
any other ideas? appreciate the help really!

Dinner tonight, above 100th on the East Side

I've been to Bistro Itzocan and it is wonderful food but the last couple of times I've been there it has smelled of cat urine which kinds of ruins it.

Dinner tonight, above 100th on the East Side

I was wondering if anyone knew of a non latino restaurant in that area that isn't too pricey where two old friends can sit and catch up without being rushed and with nice ambiance good food and just as importantly good drink
thanks!

Where to take an Italian visitor coming to NYC for the first time?

My boyfriend is Italian and his friends come visit all the time. There's a couple standards he likes to take them to for things he thinks are "cool". Joe' Shanghai is always on the list, Mara's homemade for alligator and crayfish, JG Mellon or Paul's for a great burger, and usually a koreatown visit.
Oh and for drinking always mcsorley's and a tiny whole in the wall sake bar

Best Options for Stone Crabs?

I really wish somebody would answer about where to find them at a restaurant...I've never tried them and I'd love to!

mcsorley's, russ & daughter

they for sure have cheeseburgers at mcsorley's! but my plan would be go there early before the nyu crowd and then go around the corner to paul's for a really great burger
