Good Wings in Durham Region?

I would like to add my 2 cents to this post. I have been a wing junkie for decades, often traveling down to Buffalo in the 80's to get what wasn't yet available up here. There are several very good wing places around and most have already been mentioned. Jax Fillin Station on Simco (North of Rossland) is the best. The "new" owner Dianne (who has worked there for a decade) has spruced the place up quite a bit so it is no longer a Peanut bar. The wings are large and they have won "Best Wings in Durham" for many years. This year, they won Peoples Choice, with the judges choice going to another good wing place called "Whiskey Johns" located on # 2 at Stevenson just inside Oshawa near the mall. Also top notch wings at WOW Wings - 2 locations one in Whitby on Dundas (#2) about a km west of Brock (#12) tucked into the corner of a plaza. The other is take out in Ajax just off Harwood south of the 401. There are a couple of WILD Wings around, one in Oshawa around Taunton, the other in Whitby in the AMC complex at Thickson and the 401. Both of those last 2 offer about a hundred different flavours. I would not recommend the wings at most other places. The Crown and Firken pre-cooks on wing nights, the St Louis wings I just do not like. The size and flavour just are not there. "On the Rocks" (Whitby and Oshawa) does a pretty good baked wing. They come sauced in about 8 different ways. The Gryphon at #2 & Perry (downtown Whitby) does some good wings, and even Los Cabos (Tex Mex) in Whitby does a pretty good wing. There are other places in Ajax that I have not been to that I have heard good things about but have not sampled yet. Most Wing places do not get categorized as "fine dining establishments" and so expectations about decor should be realistic. I would recommend DuramPark give JAX another shot. I doubt you will be disappointed.

new to ajax/durham - Seafood/butcher/groceries

Bueno, actually the new one is on Victoria down south of the 401 betwwen Ajax and Brock St. It opened this spring. The Thickson North location has been opened for a couple of years.
There is also Alans Butcher shop located at Hgwy 2- 1 block East of Brock in the small plaza to the south. They have been there for years and they have lots of quality meat and very interesting sausage types.
