Avoid Big Buck Brewery In Gaylord, MI if you want an adult beverage

I don't drink beer. How was the food?

Northern Michigan -Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Charlevoix-Anything New?

The Crowsnest was great years ago. I haven't been there recently but have heard good things.

Best Fish and Chips in Detroit ?

I think the Peppercorn Duck Club in the Hyatt would please both of you.

Offal and other specialty meats in Kansas City

Also Steve's Meats in DeSoto.

The great flatlands of Kansas suggestions (1-70)?

You have had a number of the good spots mentioned already, but let me add a few more.

In Junction City you will find several good Korean Restaurants. My favorites are Korean Garden, and Pusan Restaurant & Korean Dinner.

In addition to the Brookville Hotel (which serves nothing but fried chicken), Abeline has Kirby House Restaurant and Mr. K's Farmhouse .

Many other good places if you get a few miles away from I-70, but let me push my favorite one right next to the freeway. Well a mile away...

Bunker Hill Cafe in the town of the same name. Located in a 1917 limestone building that was originally a drugstore and soda fountain, the steak house is only open Wednesday through Saturday nights. Great steaks, including elk & buffalo, served in qualities as small as 2 ounces so you can try more than one. Wonderful fresh baked breads! Warning, they don't take credit cards.

More of my comments and photos of these and other unique Kansas restaurants are posted at http://www.kansastravel.org/kansasrestaurants.htm

Best Hamburger in Midwest

For a chain, my vote would be 5 Guys.

KC..Power and Light district..where's the good beer and food?

The County Club Plaza and Westport are more interesting places to be in the evening.

if you could only go to one place in Kansas City for BBQ, where would it be?

I am sorry to hear that. It was unchanged when I stopped there in February, shortly after it reopened.

They also supply a small selection of their competition's sauces.

Best burgers in Kansas

I've only had breakfast at Skeats. It was reasonably priced, good solid food. And very busy on a Saturday morning.

Orlando Airport

Thanks.

I gave up and had lunch at 11AM before leaving Cocoa Beach, at Roberto's Cuban Cafe. Not much atmosphere but the best food of the trip.

Best burgers in Kansas

Fresh cut?

Wichita Kansas?

My favorite local places include B&C BBQ, Bomber Burger, and the original NUWay Cafe.

These and others are reviewed at http://www.kansastravel.org/kansasrestaurants.htm

Orlando Airport

We have an early afternoon flight out of Orlando next Sunday. What recomendations to folks have near the airport for lunch?

Thanks!

Best burgers in Kansas

Quick, meaning the atmosphere is carefully crafted to encourage you to eat quickly and leave. There is also one at the Legends.

I do like 5 Guys burgers. They do the best job of the large fast food chains. My only complaint being that their burgers are all cooked well done.

Best burgers in Kansas

Bomber Burger in Wichita a small hole in the wall joint that has been operating since the '80s. The burgers are lightly dusted with garlic before slow grilling so they stay moist. Also fresh cut fries.

Prairie Nut Hut in Altoona, Kansas is better known for their hand prepared mountain oysters, but their burgers are even better. My favorite of the variety of burgers they offer is the Rohr burger (with grilled onions, mushrooms and Swiss cheese). Originally opened in the '40s, it reopened about 15 years ago.

Others worth considering include Ty's Dinner in Wichita, R-B Drive In in Hutchinson, and Nu Grille in Fort Scott. They all have great burgers and atmosphere.

The Cozy Inn in Salina deserves consideration for tradition and atmosphere, more than for the still decent little burgers they have been grilling for 85 years. Beef Burger Bob's in Fredonia and the original Nu-Way Cafe in Wichita are neat places to get loose meat burgers.

There are a growing number of places offering gourmet burgers in the KC and Lawrence area. I don't think any of their burgers measure up to the first 5 that I mentioned, but the best of the bunch is the newest - BRGR in Prairie Village.

if you could only go to one place in Kansas City for BBQ, where would it be?

I used to say Arthur Bryants for someone from out of town getting just one KC BBQ experience, but have recently shiffted. LC would be my "one place" recomendation regardless. And since you are driving through on I-70, it is one of the more handy locations as well, only a bit over a mile off of I-435, a few miles south of I-70.

Lunch in Lawrence, KS?

I liked Local Burger the first couple of times I went there, but on more recent visits, I have have been less impressed. The concept still appeals, but the food just hasn't lived up to it.

Lunch in Lawrence, KS?

BTW, about a week after I dined there, it was reviewed in the Star. The rabbit confit salad prepared for the photo in the paper didn't look much like my photo of the one I received as a customer.

Lunch in Lawrence, KS?

It was a very cold day and we didn't want to sit close to the front door, so we sat near the back of the restaurant. That only worked until some of the employees began using the emergency exit at the back to step outside to smoke.

I had the rabbit confi salad for $9. I enjoyed the rabbit, but didn't care much for the small salad. My friends were a little happier with the pizza, which had good flavor, but the toppings were sparse.

The cheese plate was good.

The "Feeding of the Multitude" German buffet sounds great!

Maybe next year.

I keep trying Cafe Augusta every few months. I want to really like that place, but they keep making miscues and I haven't had a really good experience there.

Lunch in Lawrence, KS?

For just one meal in Lawrence, I think that Free State is the way to go. I have taken several visitors there and the experience has always been good.

For multiple meals, there are many good choices, but my second one would probably be Aladdin Cafe with good Mediterranean & Middle Eastern food,

My experience at 715 was marginal.

The webstie doesn't work for me.

Sugarfoot and Peaches Fort Scott Kansas

I give it a weak recomendation. The atmsosphere and menu are interesting, but the BBQ is pretty ordinary.

Kansas City

Genghis Khan in Lenexa has been gone for a few years. That is the space that Cafe Augusta occupies.

There was a HuHot in Olathe for about a year, but it did not last.

Which BD's have you been to? I think the one in Overland Park/Lenexa is fair - better than the ones that are part of Chinese buffets. But the one time I went to the Blue Springs BD's, I thought it was terrible.
