Help me remember a restaurant name

That's it! I recognize/remember the taco holder and the chalkboard. Thanks much.

Help me remember a restaurant name

Several years ago, I had lunch at a casual place in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. I sat at a bar near the entrance (with stools for dining - not a liquor bar) and had amazing elote, tacos, and a fried cheese thing that was shaped like it was formed around an old coffee can.

Does anyone know the place I'm thinking about? We are coming in the fall for our 25th anniversary and I want to go back.

Thanks!

Risotto House in Rutherford, NJ?

And they have a second location in Hasbrouck Heights, 203 Boulevard. Going there tonite for the first time. Also BYOB, same owners, I assume same menu.

Opa, Wayne NJ

We loved Opa. The greek salad was large, fresh, with wonderful red ripe tomatoes. And in an unusual touch, it had some fresh dill sprinkled on it. The gyros were spectacular.

The balkava was OK (I am not an expert on this). Avoid the odd Greek coffee (with a ton of sludgy grinds left in the cup after you finish it - I know this is probably a custom but we didn't enjoy it).

Sunday night Prix Fixe in LV

Maybe this is a newbie question, but can you use more than one restaurant.com certificate at the same time? I'm planning on a group of 4 and would like to use more than one at Aureole.

Thanks.

Late Night Cleveland on a Thursday?

AMP 150 is an amazing place with creative small plate cuisine, wonderful service, large specialty beer menu, and great selection of wines by the glass. I was there tonight, and I am going back tomorrow night to try more of their spectacular food.

Yankee Stadium Food Review

Well, now I am going to take some of my comments back:

http://www.alwayshungryny.com/thought...

As you will read, it now appears that the NYY Steak stand is NOT the same sandwich as the Lobels stand.

And now that I see this, it explains why my last sandwich (from NYY Steak stand and NOT Lobels) was on the stringy/sinewy side. A Lobels sandwich is as tender as can be. Apparently not so much with NYY Steak.

So here's your strategy:

Grab some of the fresh horseradish from the NYY Steak stand
Get your sandwich from the Lobels cart.
Combine, enjoy, Go Yanks.

Yankee Stadium Food Review

You are so right, Marge. The stand in LF offers a creamy horseradish sauce (prepackaged and purchased) instead of the fresh horseradish. AND, worst of all, no tapenade. These condiments really set the Lobels sandwich apart from anything else at the stadium. BRING BACK THE OLD CONDIMENTS.

And everyone should know that there is a SECOND Lobels stand, although it is called NYY Steak. Same level, RF, next to the garlic fries stand. I am told that this is the exact same sandwich. AND at this stand they actually have freshly grated horseradish (they do it in the concourse). AND this stand rarely has the monster line that the original Lobels cart has (although the original cart is right next to the great Beers of the World).

To the comment that the meat was too well done, I've always gotten nice pink slices, and I'm sure you can let them know that you want it on the rarer side.

You don't need a clear bag anymore. Any bag will do, but they will look inside it when you enter. AND you can bring bottled water as long as it is sealed (another secret the Yankees would rather not get out).

Cocktail Reception - Midtown Any ideas?

Might be too late, but the Capital Grille has a great $25 pp wine tasting promotion going on right now. That could make for a fun cocktail hour.

Leopold's Gin - Yeccchhhh!!!!

I had Leopolds this weekend during a trip to the Napa Valley (got tired of wine one night!). I thought it was amazing. My problem is that you can't buy it in NJ or ship it to NJ. I have a friend visiting DC (where they apparently do sell it - leave it to all those tipsy politicians) and I'm gonna ask her to see if she can find me a bottle.

EMP has a $28 wine page!

Based on the rave Chowhound reviews, my family of 4 did EMP's $28 lunch special for our annual holiday weekend in NYC. Last year we did Jean Georges, so EMP was facing some heavy competition.

And we absolutely loved EMP, because:

- the restaurant is MUCH more relaxed than JG, where you feel like you can't move or talk
- the restaurant is so beautiful, especially for an art deco lover like me
- the location and view are teriffic
- the service was equally as good as JG
- the $28 menu was indeed a great value (try the linguini with crab and the suckling pig)
- the portion size is MUCH larger than at JG

But, best of all:

They have a $28 wine menu page, with a choice of one white bottle and one red bottle at $28. Our white was thoroughly enjoyable and complimented our meal immensely.

Here's a blurb from the NYTimes in February: Eleven Madison Park has a list of wines of varying distinction that can be ordered at lunchtime for $28. That price buys either a sip of a very expensive wine, a glass of a less expensive one or a half bottle or full bottle of wines even less expensive than that.

One Chowhound posting said that the only thing EMP was missing was affordable wine - it appears that, at lunch, that is no longer the case.

EMP is our new favorite for a great gourmet NYC lunch.

Babbo booked - where to go?

Didn't realize I had to call 30 days exactly to snag a decent hour dinner reservation at Babbo. So we are looking for something similar - tasting menu is appealing, Italian, wine pairings, etc.

Suggestions?

Ollie's Noodle Shop vs. Ollie's Szechuan

We used to go to the old Ollie's down the street from Carmines just off Times Square - but they closed. Are both of these locations (200B W 44th and 411 W 42nd) still open? Does the Szechuan one have some of the same food as the Noodle Shop (like scallion pancakes, hot and sour soup, soup dumplings/juicy buns)? Which would you prefer?

Thanks.

Sedona upscale lunch Monday with red rocks view

So we ended up at Enchantment Resort at Ti Gavo (the less expensive restaurant) for lunch - sitting outside on the terrace SURROUNDED by magnificent red rock formations. Awesome! And the food was great and not crazy priced. Tasty gazpacho, signature prickly pear margarita (of course). Highly recommended.

All inclusive Resorts with great food?

We've really enjoyed the Iberostar Paraiso Lindo/Maya resort in Riviera Maya. The breakfast buffet alone is reason enough to visit. The lunch/dinner buffets are elaborate and well prepared. And most of the a la carte restaurants are very good (see my review on Tripadvisor).

Bebos near San Juan Intl - how to get to?

I understand that Bebos (Marginal Los Angeles Carolina location) is adjacent (?) to the rental car facility. If we are connecting through San Juan and want to run over for a bite, could we take the rental car shuttle to get there? Or should we just take a taxi? OR should we instead go to Metropol?

Thanks for your comments.
