French Door, Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator - New Owners, Please Post

My model number is
LFX 25960 SW
I think the SW refers to the color/white.
It clearly states inside,...and I read here or somewhere where LG tried to tell someone about clearance...but it states...
Minimum installation top 1 inch, back 1 inch, hinge side 1/8 inch.
We modified the top cabinet and the side on the right a bit...
I may be singing another tune in the future, but we all LOVE this refridg...
Our previoius side by side was horrible in terms of space and the wall on the left...and if buying today, I would do it again. In fact, my sister did...
in black....gorgeous! As stated, her first had issues, but where she bought it immediately sent a brand new replacement. I did not buy at a big box store. I went for a bit more money at a more, in my opinion, consumer friendly old store in Santa Monica. Not that it mattered in my case! I checked out the refridg and ordered it over the phone. I didn't want any Big Box issues, I just wanted the unit and let it go as to issues. Again, so far, other than the outside temperature, absolutely none. Again, water/ice through the door was a must.

I don't have the model number handy, will get it tomorrow...it is NOT counter depth, it is white as suits this old kitchen, absolutely zero issues other than the outside temperature, which annoys me and everybody else says get over it! In fact, today, we bought a new washer and had the company deliver a new filter and they put it in (same place I bought this refridg from), and there isn't a day where we do not remark how thrilled we are with this refridg. The space is amazing! We had to modify the existing cabinet to hold it, as this is an old kitchen. The left door opens against a wall, and it opens perfectly! Meaning, no issues getting things in and out, which we had with our very old side by side. The bottom freezer is simply a dream. No icing issues, unless we leave the door open too long (yes, that alarm alerts us, but we are not always 'good'. And then there is minimal ice on the things in the very front. I much preferred this to the Kenmore, which has little drawers in front of the veggie or meat bins. We were down to the Kenmore Elite and this one, and just took the chance. We have learned to always get the extended warrant. Our washer, a Maytag, lasted 3 1/2 years..what went wrong was not covered. Nothing is the same anymore, Maytag purchased by Whirlpool? Who knows who owns what anymore.
Who knows where they are manufactured? I would say, we bought this in July? and honestly, love it each and every day. I have called LG about a clogged ice thingy, and they told me exactly how to remedy this over the phone with no waiting on line. OF course, I have not had to call with any big issue, the ambient outside temperature is a defect in terms of design, but I am not going to make an issue out of it. I will get the model number and post tomorrow....
The Maytag was too tall, even modifying our cabinets the way we wanted.
We absolutely wanted a through the door ice/water and that was not available in many models/manufacturers. Not a day goes by where we don't use the through the door ice/water. That is a feature that is a must for us! May I add, my sister purchased the exact same in black, the first as a lemon, and was immediately replaced by the company she bought it from....the second is a dream! I will get back with the model number!

I am be the only satisfied owner of an LG. Only problem, discussed here, is that the ambient outside temperature is not true! My sister brought the same model as mine, top of the line, NOT counter depth, and had issues...and the company she brought it from IMMEDIATELY took it back and replaced it. New one, no issues at all. I am positively thrilled with the space, the ease of use, no icing issues, no issues at all. I took the extended warrant, as everyone should. I 'fought' for years with a side by side, getting things in and out of the freezer, constricted by a wall on one side, and honestly, everytime I take a thing in or out, I am happy!

Perhaps I am lucky, don't know, but don't care. I am just thrilled I have a easy and thus so far fabulous French door, bottom freezer refridg that makes life easier!

What foods do you HAVE to mail order?

I have made this casserole, but using chicken, and added a bit of cream to the filling, and it is sensational! Yet to try it with smoked turkey, as there isn't much left over from our Greenberg orders! This is truly the ultimate poultry casserole, in my opinion!

I have the 25 c. ft. model. I have not had this problem. We had some ice clog up in the dispenser and just poured some warm water through it. Only happened once. Have you called customer service? Despite people reporting that such service is not good, I would call. See what they say.

I had very specific space, thus size, requirements. I also wanted through the door water and ice. It came down to LG or the Kenmore Elite. I didn't care for those small little compartments in front of the bins in the Kenmore. Thus, it was LG. So far, I love it! Love the bottom freezer! The only issue I have with our LG is that the ambient room temperature gauge is in the back, thus gives a false reading in the front. Their service is reputed to be horrible. I have called over a clogged ice dispenser, and the issue was solved over the phone with ease, and it was not the fault of the appliance.

I think it does come down to space and design. These bottom freezer models with French doors are fairly new, and thus not alot of reviews for long term durability.

OHHHHHHH, does this sound mouth watering fabulous! Russkar, forgive me, I have looked a bit, but do you have a website? I don't think this restaurant is on menu pages. I most definitely want there, I don't live far, but would love to see a menu for my non crab loving friends!

Refrigerator advice appreciated!

I read that as well, but mine, about three months old, has the sensor in the back, and the hoot is that LG is saying that clearance should be much more than stated right on a sticker inside of my refridg. When I have the time, I just might make a fuss, but besides this I love it! How stupid to put an ambient temperature sensor in the back, that will be close to a wall! I cannot imagine the stupidity.
Do they think we put these things in the middle of the kitchen?

Refrigerator advice appreciated!

The only annoying thing, which has been mentioned on another thread, which I will try to locate and post, is that the outside ambient temperature is taken on the BACK of the unit, so it truly isn't measuring the ambient temperature in the kitchen! I cannot figure out just what is appealing about having this, maybe to guide in adjusting internal temperatures? So far, other than that, no problems. We love the configuration, we love the ice and water!!!! There seems to be plenty of ice for our daily needs. Some have mentioned that it is difficult to get tall glasses in the space for the water/ice, I have not found this to be true. Please, though, take the extended warranty! I did, and hopefully will not be using it...but just in case. OH, think I have to adjust the freezer temp. by a few degrees? Have to look it up in the brochure, but a bit of icing up in the front of the freezer, and I am thinking probably because when opened that is what is getting the hit of warm air, if this makes sense, and not the items in the bottom of the freezer or in the back. So, we are still a slow work in progress with this LG.
Also, on the other thread, there was a complaint toward the bottom about LG and how they responded to someone and how it should have been installed. Over the phone to me, and this other poster, when inquiring why the ambient room temp is not accurate and asking why this temp is measured in the back, the other poster and I were both told something ridiculous about four inches in the back, an inch on the sides, I cannot remember. HOWEVER, I opened up my refridg and right inside, on a lable, it says something far different that what I and other poster were told on the phone. Sides something like 1/8 inch, back about 1 inch. It is not worth my going crazy about the ambient room temp. being off.

What foods do you HAVE to mail order?

I have tried Juniors....and no, I don't think they are similar. I don't know how to describe Carnegie other than it is firm toward the outside getting a bit creamy toward the middle, not overwhelmed by the crust. It has a nice density and fabulous flavor, sweet but not cloyingly sweet by any means. This is my take on it. My younger son never, ever liked cheesecake until he had some at a friend's house that he loved, and when I expressed surprise that he liked it, he said "mom, a fork stands up straight in it."mmI immediately called the friend's mom and asked where it came from, and she said mail ordered from Carnegie. Ironically, for three recent years I was bi-coastal (My home is on the West Coast, where NY cheesecake is non existant), and my NYC apartment was only blocks from The Carnegie. Now, I am back to mail (or calling or online) ordering! Love making a raspberry sauce to accompany it. Yummmmmmmmm. Try it!

Afternoon Tea for 30-40?

I would love the name, as I am in the early planning stages of hosting a tea for 30 to up to 40 in my home. Thanks in advance!
Any suggestions as to where to buy tea sandwiches and sweets would be appreciated. It doesn't have to be anything "classic". It will just be an afternoon
champagne/tea/coffee nibbles and sweets. I have all the china and flatware I need as well as serving platters, etc.

Dining out for Thanksgiving

Am I third or fourth to recommend Campanile? We had a wonderful holiday there two years ago! We were at a somewhat large, round corner table so we didn't get a sense of it being a zoo. If it was, it wasn't noticed through our service, which was not lacking in any respect. They post the Thanksgiving menu on their website. I would suggest reserving well in advance!

Your lips to the spirits above! I still cannot get over how stupid putting a sensor in the back is! Honestly, does anybody really need to know what the temperature of their kitchen is? Maybe for some baking?
I didn't need that feature, but did want through the door water/ice, which we use all the time! Thanks for your good thoughts! My model is not the same as yours, I did not buy the cabinet depth and mine is white, and mine is approx. 25 cubic feet, but I am sure all have the same issues. We will see!

I have an sometime in October delivery date, but I don't mind as the price was simply amazing! They have the right to cancel the order, hope they don't! Almost too good to be true!

I am not having trouble with the water/glass...and I have some tall glasses.
I just hold it under and press a bit. Wow, redesigned now without the back sensor? I missed out on that, and mine is less than three months old, maybe only two! I would not hesitate to write any body and every one, even sending a few certified. We had an issue with a toilet purchased from Home Depot, had a plumber install it, and it constantly ran. Called HD, and was told to bring it back. Yeah, sure, so I finally reached the store manager who sent an in store plumber out, second one ran like the first, and then they ordered one for me from Kohler and are sending a guy to install it tomorrow. I just didn't give up when they said to bring it back. I would send a letter to the store manager as well as the President/CEO of HD, although they were recently sold to another company, or an agreement has been reached. Maybe I will be lucky, maybe I won't. I was warned! I don't know if it is allowed to post a link to the nextag info, but I will check out nextag to see if I can locate it. I admit, while a small issue, the sensor in the back annoys me bigtime!
Should I have issues, I will post here about them.

French Door, Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator - New Owners, Please Post

Too late for me! I bought it about two plus months ago. I did post earlier about the stupidity of putting the temperature sensor in the back, and finding out only after the unit was installed by calling LG regarding why the ambient temperature registered so high, and only then did I learn that the sensor was in the back, and was told it should be installed with 4 inches on all sides, meaning back and sides. I noted in that earlier post, who reads the installation guide before buying the unit? I decided not to buy from a big box store such as Home Depot and spend a bit more with a smaller company in Santa Monica, and told the sales person that if I have any problems, that this brand gets a big, bad rap on the internet, that I expect them to back me up. They had their own professional installers install it, which we paid for, when Home Depot would have done it for free. I don't understand what you are saying about controls for ice/water. Ours is through the door, and we simply push a spot on the display. Are there other controls? Our ice/water through the door has been working wonderfully. I am so sorry you are having issues, and honestly, I fully expect issues. We did take out a four year extended warranty, but that is through GE. I would write a letter to Home Depot, a letter to LG, I would write letters to everybody imaginable including the Attorney General in your state, any comsumer agencies. I just did this for a problem I was having with getting collection bills from a company for someone with my same name, not my address or SS or account number, not my phone number..and only when I sent out a dozen letters did it finally end. This ordeal took two years! My biggest fear is that the lack of air circulating due to ours being in a cabinet space, although not cabinet depth, without those four surrounding inches, will either cause the compressor to fail, or somehow void the warranty. Hey, I knew what I was getting into...it was the only unit that fit our space, with come cabinet modifications, and had through the door ice and water, and I chose it over the Sears Elite model for some reason I cannot remember.

Well, I did it. The price has gone back up to $159 but when I checked my shopping cart it said $99, so I pushed the place order button. I honestly don't know where I am going to keep this huge and heavy mixer, no counterspace, but I do have a baker's rack so probably there and will get back strain every time I use it carrying it to the counter! Again, Jennalyn, thanks. OH, it did say it won't ship until between Oct. 5th and the 22nd.

How do you do your LOBSTER at home?

We love grilling spiny lobsters, but we have the fish person split them in half, in other words they do the messy work and they are mostly tail! We baste with garlic butter, and then we grill starting flesh side down, then turn and baste with garlic butter again! Yummmmmmmmm. Serve with tortillas, Mexican rice, beans, salsa and we have the Baja lobster dinner!
