Help : Off-line store for Villaware Waffle maker in NY
I got mine from crate & barrel, maybe check there? or if you're in the city try calling broadway panhandler.
your best kitchen related purchase of 2010
this is fun- i'll say:
an all clad saute simmer whatever 4 qt pan, i haven't used it bc there's no space in my jitchen but we got a great deal and i forsee it being a workhorse for many years to come.
toast tongs, i have burnt my fingers too many times- and i use it for many other small tong related things.
when to replace non stick pans?
thanks- yes on my replace i'll likely go with bare cast iron, but i'd rather replace something worn than just get something new (i don't have a lot of space)
it didn't seem right that i needed to replace them when they still looked and functioned essentially like new.
thanks!
when to replace non stick pans?
hi everyone? i generally cook on stainless, but i do have a couple non stick pans which i've bee using for the past couple years. at what point do i need to replace these? they have no visible wear to them and they've never been in the dishwasher.
i assume i just wait until they're dingy but i recently read that they should be replaced every other year or so? is that right? i maybe use them once a week each max.
thanks!
HELP!! I scorched my Le Creuset...
i've never registered mine either? is it too late most areabout 1.5 yrs old
pepper mill for dried chilis?
thanks- yes i do think i'll try with a cheaper one first. I looked on the web a bit and I saw and was interested in
http://www.amazon.com/Peugeot-Vendome-2-Inch-Acrylic-Natural/dp/B00061MZX8
it's far to expensive and sadly the reviews are poor
or
http://www.amazon.com/William-Bounds-Universal-Spice-Mill/dp/B000IBRXMO/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1291900913&sr=1-1
also with poor reviews?
it's certainly not a necessity but i thought it would be cute... i will certainly ask at pensys next time i'm there.
pepper mill for dried chilis?
anyone know if i can use a peppermill or peppermill like device for died chillis? I love crushed red pepper on many foods and thought it'd be a nive thing to kepp on the table? ideally I'd like a clear acrylic one so no one mistakes it for blck pepper.
thanks!
Sturdiest French Press Coffee Pot?
yes i have this as well, and a single serve bodum kenya french press, use them both often and so far haen't had a problem.
FYI- 20% off of cookware at WS
i know most here wait for the cookwarenmore sale, but I might use the opportunity to upgrade some wedding gifts I was planning on sending out anyway. Just wanted to pass it along
Silpat vs parchment
I know this is an old thread but I was wonderring what people use while roasting veggies? i try to use very little oil which causes some sticking (i usually use non stick backing pans) will either a silpat or parchment help? thanks!
Le Creuset must-haves?
maybe a braiser? i don't have one (but i want one!) I also really like the stoneware and use my 2.75 quart pretty often.
Does anyone use a honey dipper?
i like this idea- should i ever notice a stainless honey dipper i might pick one up- imagine it could multitask quite well.
My first 'nice' cutlery set
I know that this thread has taken a life of it's own- but this is something worth discussing with santa: http://www.amazon.com/sthof-Classic-6-Piece-Knife-Block/dp/B0009NMVWS/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1291040494&sr=8-3
i think the 6in chef's is a great place to start and a small set is a great so you can build on it as you learn what you really want or need. If you can wait on the set- this is a great deal:
http://www.amazon.com/Wusthof-979779-Classic-6-Inch-Cooks/dp/B00005MEGR/ref=sr_1_2?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1291040623&sr=1-2
since you already have the pairing knife- this will become your go to- I started with this 6 inch and still use it nearly daily- i added some larger (a santoku and larger chef's knife) when I got married but i still reach for the 6 inch wisthof the most.
Need rec for tiny demitasse spoons
i think i have these- wmf bistro espresso spoons- i love them!
Question Re: pumpkin cheesecake? remove from pan before refridgerating?
Hi everyone, I just made my first pumpkin cheesecake and it's cooling. I have read that I should refridgerate for at least a few hours (it will be overnight, it's for tomorrow)
when refridgerating do i remove it from the springform? I did run a knife around the edges already.
thanks!
My first 'nice' cutlery set
if you are interested, the smaller cuisine sets (chef's knife paring and bread) might be a better bet? you can usually cancel on gilt on the day of purchase if you're not 100%. i've done this before and my card was never charged. I would double check the price on amazon. Also, for a while WS had some good deals on Shuns, just get a chef's or santoku and you'll be satified for a while. You can go a little cheaper on the bread knif (try victorinox fibrox)
actually it's the same on amazon http://www.amazon.com/Zwilling-Henckels-Cuisine-3-Piece-Sharpening/dp/B0006ZSXM6/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1290542773&sr=8-3-spell
plus free shipping- since you don't have to rush to get a deal, maybe head to a WS try out what fits best and just get a chef's knife for now?
marcus cookware
i've ssen them but don't own. they look great- very modern design and as heavy as all clad.
need help with cookware set up on a budget
a lot of people rec this set so it's worth checking out (i don't have it) note that they also sell a set with more varried materials.
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=11072506&findingMethod=rr
I'm not sure if it's as good a price as etting the other set and then adding the cast ison and non stick, but certainly worth looking into
recs for springform pan for cheesecake?
yes it was a 9 inch- they had both but i thought i had remembered that most recipes were for 9inches.
The kaiser's were 50% off the chicago metallic were 30% and I had a 10% coupon. so it wasn't much more than the cheaper ones and aside from the banged up box i was assured that it was 1st quality.
recs for springform pan for cheesecake?
thanks all- i got a kaiser at WS outlet for about $18. sopefully it goes well!
Best for cooking Indian curries?
thanks- I'll check the outlets next time i'm there to see if they have one for a good price. that shape looks very versitile.
to the OP- you may want to check out the all clad cassoulet or petite braiser. both are reasonably priced and would be a great size. I have the petite braiser and it's good for dishes for 2-4. the casoulet looks ideal.
all clad bakeware?
does anyone have thoughts on the all clad bakeware? I'd love to slowly upgrade the nonstick set i have and was thinking of the 9 by 13 baker and maybe a shallow baker sor use with savory dishes. Would it be any better than pyrex? or le creuset stoneware (which I'm generally happy with)
also how are shipping times from cookware n more. will i get in time for thanskgiving? how long do you all think the current sale will go.
Your favorite Le Creuset color
that is pretty! i also like that flower shaped jar... maybe for some dried herbs?
Your favorite Le Creuset color
mine are all red. but i also love the orange and kiwi... maybe when i have a bigger kitchen i'll add to it...
If you had to buy all new pots/pans....
Hi- I got married sort of recently and I'm very happy with my all clad stainless. I would suggest choosing the pieces you really love and not doing a set (unless those sizes really work for you) so you get what you actually want. Also- for registry purposes a single pot is often about what someone might spend and a set is sort of out there unless people are pitching in.
I'd also put a le creuset on there. I love mine and there are a lot of fans out there. I think the one i got was someone who likes to give them at weddings.
and since it is expensive make sure to get nice spatulas, cutting boards, tongs and all of that. People will clear that stuff out at your shower.
edited to add: I would look at some of the special value sizes at williams sonoma. some of those are well priced for your guests and really useful sizes. They also have a 4.5 qt creuset with a trivet for a decent price which would be a great gift.
Can I put my all clad in the oven?
i've used mine in the oven. actually if i were to go back i'd get saucier shapes with 2 handles rather than a long handle sor this reason.
recs for springform pan for cheesecake?
both a newbie baker AND a nervous trype!
though- i wonder if it's worth trying to avoid something i'll use once or twice a year...
thanks for all the suggestions though- i'll see what they have locally otherwise order on amaon asap!
recs for springform pan for cheesecake?
going to attempt my first pumpkin cheesecake this thanks giving. any suggestions? the one at williams sonoma is a bit expensive for me (i'll likely use it a handful of times a year)
thanks
Best for cooking Indian curries?
I use stainless and never have much problem with sticking. I use an all clad saute pan bc that's what i have but i think the sauciers would be ideal. if you can find a 3qt saucier i'd bet you'd get a lot of use out of it.
for those that use LC- do you get staining from turmeric? i've have my eye on a baiser for years but talk myself out of it bc i worry it'll stain...
Recs for Fish tweezer or plier?
Hello- was hoping one of you could help me find a tweezer or plier that would be good for removing fish bones. Mostly for salmon.
thanks!
