Honeymoon dinner in PDX
Thanks for all of your recs, Portland Peeps! I think we've settled on Sel Gris for dinner. We've decided to have drinks and snacks at the bar at Carlyle so we can experience both. Can't wait to get there!
Honeymoon dinner in PDX
Dear Portlanders,
My fiance and I are coming to Portland for our honeymoon next month (we'll be there from June 9th through the 16th). We'll be staying some in the SE at a little house we rented off of CL and some in the Hotel Deluxe, with an overnight trip to the wine country around McMinnville.
I am hoping for a consensus on where to eat our 'Big Meal' - a very memorable honeymoon in PDX type dinner. Please help me decide between Sel Gris, Le Pigeon, Carlyse, Paleys Place, Clark Lewis and ten01.
We want romantic, but hip. Good cocktails are a plus, but desserts won't do much to sway. For the record, we are already planning to do to Pok Pok, Toro Bravo, and Cafe Castagna.
And any other don't-miss suggestions are welcome, but we already have so many ideas from the boards. Looking forward to your opinions!
Richmond, VA: Birthday Cake Delivery
The Jean Jacques almond amaretto is my all time fav. It's light yet rich and beautifully decorated. Also love their lemon raspberry and chocolate rum. They all come in smaller and larger sizes. Just ordered a key lime pie for a party over the weekend and it was diving.
If it's a bigger party, the tres leche from Kuba Kuba is always amazing.
Live Crawfish in Virginia/Richmond/anywhere?
Yikes, that is quite pricey! Maybe ask one of the owners and/or chefs of a favorite restaurant with good seafood. They often have a good hook-up.
Here's a link from the VDACS that may help: http://www.vdacs.virginia.gov/virginiafinest/seafood.shtml. Looks like there is a Crawfish farm if you are okay with farm raised.

Give the guys at Yellow Umbrella on Patterson Ave a call. They are really nice to work with. They are not the cheapest, but their seafood is delicious.
Best Sandwich in Richmond?
OMG I had completely forgotten about the miracle that is the cheese columbo at Coppola's! I haven't had one in years!
Best Sandwich in Richmond?
Yay for Nicks! Love their sandwiches and their soups. I'm in here for lunch at least once a week. My recent fav is the tomato and mozzarella sandwich. The folks that work there are great too - one of the best lunch spots around.
West End Take Out Recs
Whenever my fiance and I happen to be near Regency Mall and need a drink or a bite, we always end up Melito's - on the corner of Ridge and Three Chopt - or at The Tavern at Patterson and Three Chopt. Both are laid back local restaurants/bars close to Regency. Melito's is known for their hotdogs. I wouldn't normally recommend them over other places, but they are both in your geographic area. There is a good wine and beer shop in the same shopping center as The Tavern. But you are probably familiar with them by the sound of it. :)
Also, there is a divey Mexican place at Parham and Quioccasin called El Chapala. Super-cheap and yummy. The green sauce is wonderful. They also do take-out.

Sweetest Thing Bakery does cookies, cakes, etc. She is a one man show and delivers. http://www.sweetestthingbakery.com/index.html
For the Love of Chocolate in Carytown might do something for you, too. They make amazing cookies.
Richmond-Va Center Commons
I wouldn't recommend anything within the immediate vicinity of the mall. But there are a few options that don't require you hopping on 295.
There is a great little Italian Place just south of VA Center Commons called Bella Luna. It's in the stripmall called the Hungary Brook Shopping Center at the corner of Brook and Parham Roads. The location is not beautiful, but the food is always quite good.
You could also head North to Ashland. There is a BBQ place called the Smoky Pig that's a local favorite. For a slightly more upscale meal, try the Iron Horse. It's right on the railroad tracks in the middle of town.
Between C'Ville and Richmond
I'd try the Edible Garden. It's a little off the beaten path of 64 in Goochland. The focus is on local, farm fresh fare.
I also second Comfort, Millie's, and Croaker's Spot.
You may also want to look into Da Lat and Mekong. Cheap and wonderful Vietnamese with an amazing - and very fair priced - beer list. Mekong is the original, Da Lat is the off shoot.
