Sushi Infinity, SJ - Made to order All-You-Can-Eat Sushi?

late response, i know, but this is my favorite all you can eat sushi place. All you can eat, as opposed to buffet, where the former you still sit down and are waited on just you can repeatedly order as much as you'd like.

Stick with the nigiris for the most part when doing all you can eat, traditional ones like salmon, hamachi, white tuna, maguro (red colored tuna) are fantastic, they don't over rice it like some all you can eat or buffet places.

things that I haven't had elsewhere, let alone all you can eat places are raw large scallop nigiri! ask for it raw as sometimes they will sear it. Also there is a seared beef tataki like nigiri that is fantastic as well.

you can't go wrong here

reasonably priced birthday dinner for 8 people

Hi,

Looking for a place suitable for a birthday party with 8 close friends. It's for a girl, and it'd be nice to find a place that has either a prix fixe menu that is not too much, or something similar to a brazilian steak where the prices are fixed.

either way, I'm thinking somewhere around 20-30 a person including perhaps 1-2 bottles of wine I bring for corkage fee.

anywhere in the san francisco bay area is fine as we'll be heading to the city afterward and don't mind an hour drive in case the place is as far as south bay.

thanks!

Looking for a San Francisco equivalent of a Portland American Dining Restaurant

thanks again everyone. I was also told Boulevard by another friend from the city in fact. Thanks Melanie for mentioning that Zuni is simpler, because I'm trying to further narrow down a place that is a bit more upscale as splurging is the theme this time around.

thanks for the suggestion. I like the menu at that one and definitely will put that one on the list to consider. However, trying to figure out how casual of a place this is.. I am looking to go beyond the "jeans + dress shirt" attire and not look odd.

Looking for a San Francisco equivalent of a Portland American Dining Restaurant

Hi,

My girlfriend and I ate at Wildwood restaurant in Portland, Oregon a few years back and really enjoyed it. Myself being not to keen on food, cannot seem to figure out what would be a comparatively good restaurant here in San Francisco.

Wildwood specializes in using pacific northwest ingredients locally, but other than that I can only guess that the type of food is "American" food. It doesn't seem to be French, Italian, or any other European type food. The items on their current menu that come closest to what we ate there a few years back are:

PAN ROASTED MUSCOVY DUCK
cauliflower gratin, lacinato kale, roasted plums and gypsy peppers

MESQUITE ROASTED SWEET BRIAR FARMS PORK
creative growers buttercup squash, golden raisins, baby turnips and brown butter harissa

The restaurant is linked here: http://wildwoodrestaurant.com/aboutus.htm

Here are a list of places I've been recommended both by these boards and by friends... I know most are obviously french.

Cortez, Canteen, Acquerello, Michael Mina, La Folie, Jardiniere, Chapeau, South Park Cafe, Clementine, Fleur De Lys, and Masa

Any help is much appreciated,
