Restaurants in and around Vaison la Romaine
"L'Auberge d'Anais" is a fun, authentic rural place where the locals go. "Le Bonheur suit son cours" is a winebar right in the town center where you can just have a glass of wine, eat just one dish or have a complete menu - a relaxed place with a great choice of wines and good food - Xavier is a fabulous chef - but a somewhat temperamental service. "Auberge de la Bartavelle": good food, nice service, just off Place Montfort in the middle of town.
Do try "L'Auguet" right next to Vasion's tourist office - authentic Provencal food served on a lovely terrace or the new "in" place "L'Epicurien" on the road that leads from Vaison to Crestet. Hope you'll have a great time in Provence!

The Bistro Du'O was sold and has reopened under new ownership. I haven't treid it yet.
A very good restaurant is "L'Eloge" in Vacqueras, IMO one of the very best adresses around Vaison.
Restaurant "L'Eloge" in Vacqueras
Friends had told me about it and yesterday we went for the first time to the newly opened restaurant "L'Eloge" in Vacqueras in Provence. Its interior is very cool and modern, totally un-Provençal and the chef Eric Balan serves the most unbelievably delicious food. I had tunafish tartar on an avocado mousse with fennel as a starter, a generous slice of hake with pistou sauce and vegetable puree and a cheese selection with a beautifully prepared roquette salad for the fixed menu price of € 29 - a bargain. My husband had a to die for foie gras, beef and also the cheese, our friends opted for the desserts - baba au rhum and an iced peach-soup - all you heard around the table were sighs of contentment. Lovely service, too. The total for 4 persons with 2 bottles of wine was € 210.
Since there are not too many exciting restaurant in this part of Provence (another exception to the rule is "L'Oustalet" in Gigondas) I just thought I'd let all you Chowhounds know. And no, I am in no way involved with this place!
