Harbor steak and seafood in mamaroneck

I wouldn't be complaining about white plains!

then move to port chester!

Polpettina homestyle pizza kitchen (Fisher Ave. Eastchester) this is so much more than just pizza...

maybe it's not the pizza and your tastes have changed!! Memories & nostaligia taste better then reality often. Also maybe in the past 2 years colony got the problem fixed and it's great once again-before dismissing it as garbage why not have the decency to make sure before calling it out?

for the record I do like tarry lodge for pizza only and maybe that chopped salami salad BUT I will only eat in the bar as I find the service in the resto not that great, bartenders are much better. BUT for my favorite pies in PC go to JT Straws! NO JOKE good pizza. leave the kids at home though as it's a real bar that happens to serve excellent pie.

Still a far cry from $100 though no?

From their latest menu the meal that was described comes to $66. That is assuming the dessert was $10 since it is not listed on the website. NOT $100 and in my opinion PRICELESS.

Breakdown as $9 for meatball sampler (most expensive "app" is $10 truffle fries btw), small pie with 1 topping $15, special tallegio pie $18, 2 of higher end draft beers at $7 each plus $10 for dessert.

To repond to Paris I personnally do not do take out anywhere especially for this menu BUT it is a challenge to eat in since they have so few tables. Well worth it and form your own opinion!

well said debdav. i just hate seeing places as I travel to the other cities that are thriving with great local restos and we can't support the ones here that are trying to serve something other then large plate mass market sysco-crap! the new school may not be for everyone and if you are charging a premium then it better be good. In my 5 times at polpettina the food has always been priceless not expensive!

here lies my problem with what you are saying. if you don't see it as a value then don't eat there. you obviously don't care for the food but others do! i have not been there more often only because it's a bit crammed for my large family ( i wish they opened closer to rye also) but if toppom loved it then why shoot her experince down? I know everyone is entitled to their own opinions but here you have a excellent local business that is trying to survive and you poo poo it often without much actual patronage. There desserts happen to be stellar so next time don't drink the $6 beers and get a zeppole plate! their small pizzas are not that small also so that $80 meal you describe if your numbers are correct should leave a party with leftovers enough for another lunch!

Come on Rye is not that bad considering we are closer to Pt. Chester then you Southeners!! I'll take Ruby's over that Barnacle fiasco, Frankie & Johnies over Ye Olde Tollhouse or Lemoncellos, etc...you see where I was headed! La Panetiere has become more contemporary, salzburg has top notch bakery, and the slices at sunrise are strong! I know we are not loaded with pan-asian mini chains but give us a break! anyway I consider mamk, rye, harrison, rye brook & pt. chester one town so that we are stronger!!

I think I give up on Pizza in Westchester

Agreed (that they are not expensive at all) and their White pizza is the best. 1 slice and ur full & happy. That with an unsweetened iced tea and chili flakes for the slice. Also their corner sicilian is good.

jhopp say it ain't so! all ur credibility just went down the tubes. popeyes is even better then kfc. want non-chain fried chicken? amy ruths in nyc, fireplace in nj (at least it used to be 10 years ago when I was last there), in Westchester the mt kisco coach diner although I like it with maple syrup on it is superior.

OMG!!! H Mart is opening in Hartsdale, NY!

So we went the other day. thursday at 2pm. place was packed. parking lot was a mess. we walked around for a quick second and then tried to have lunch in the eat-in section. no seats. some empty tables but no seats. got food to go from chinese and japanase windows as korean was to busy. very nice cashier informed us that they were out of all of the chinese dumplings (fried, water & king were the offerings). so I ordered the first noodle dish on the menu instead. OVERALL: food was just ok for a takeout place bordering on not so great. pickeled radish garnich from both stalls were not crisp & refreshing but tepid and limp. pork cutlet was just a panko and egg mess. chicken & broccoli was ok. THEN tried the Tous-les Jours bakery where alas there was no char siu bao. BUT there was the savory versions of the old hot dog in the bun (sadly not the chinese sausage variety) and the corn niblet & mayo. $3.50 for a twisted crueller anyone? alli in all the bakery blows. nice staff but poorfried/baked offerings. Upon furrther research the cream puffs (called mini pate choux) were nice but again $3.50 for 4 or 5 bights not so worth it. It's (the bakery only) a chain company sort of like a starbucks franchise. lots of parbaked/par-fried not-so-goodies. RE: The actual supermarket: looked awesome but have to go back without the non-foodie peeps to fully grasp as it is huge!

OMG!!! H Mart is opening in Hartsdale, NY!

no char sui bao?? how about roasted meats a la kam sen? chicken, duck pork? galangal can be found at apple farm btw

White Plains: A+ for Noodle+

Scarsdale NY Chinese recommendation- Jade Spoon

I wish they opened one in rye ridge! to far from rye to get take out sadly.

Westchester Bat Mitzvah

yeas sorry didn't feel like reading the 2006 posts!

Westchester Bat Mitzvah

Not sure about that but another "unique" space in Pt. Chester is the Capital Theater. also an arm & a leg though...

ReNapoli in Old Greenwich?

re: the chicago beef.
as a roast beef sandwich it's good. as a chicago beef it's mediocre. they need to fix bread and jus. the giardenara i recall being pretty stellar in its heat though. pizzas rocked. wish they opened down south in pt. cheter/rye/hatrrison area.

Westchester Bat Mitzvah

we are in an area that is beyond competitive when it comes to this type of party. there is nothing new or unique about anywhere one would host a big event. Life in Ardsley or the Loading Dock in CT may have everything you are looking for but they are not inexpensive. want unique rent out the lobby of one of the big corpoate offices on westchester avenue and have your decorator go nuts. it will cost you less to buy out a 4 start restaurant in NYC and bus all your guests to & from! have fun hunting!

Michael Psilakis MP TAVERNA coming to Irvington?

MP TAVERNA Michael Psilakis has found success with his Greek brasserie in Roslyn, N.Y., so he is cloning it in a Westchester village in May. This summer in Queens, he will open a bigger one: 1 Bridge Street, Irvington, N.Y.; 31-29 Ditmars Boulevard, Astoria, Queens.

from the times.

Where exactly is the COUNTRY courthouse Marge?

Trattoria Vivolo?

Help--Jury Duty in White Plains

yeah how is that a wasteland especially for lunch fare SS? bao's is not my favorite I'd rather go to kam sen or aberdeen. there is such a glut of certain types of places in WP it's comical. 2 lola's will be within a block of one another shortly 1 mexican & the other dominican...

Trattoria Vivolo?

ditto great place - but boring is dependant upon who your eating with no?

WORD ON STREET for former Lemontree/Ye Old Tollgate Site--Mamaroneck

OoooooH I like this one the best! Thanks e-bean!

WORD ON STREET for former Lemontree/Ye Old Tollgate Site--Mamaroneck

Just a rumor but from 2 separate people while discussing the glut of burger places in westchester have told me that Smashburger is going into that property on Boston Post Road. Seems odd only in that it's not the typical strip mall locale that they pop up in but I have seen stranger things...

On food-merit it's about the same as elevation burger IMO for those that have not been to one. I prefer 5 guys...

Catering for a 40th Birthday Party - Westchester/Greenwich, CT

cornerstone, roasted peppers, standing room only, barcelona, caperberry events, plum used to be great but heard they have new owners in last year or two...

Whole Foods coming to Port Chester, and I rejoice!

White Castle I have not heard about either! They are one of the few chains I will eat at. Just for the basic slider at least.

Whole Foods coming to Port Chester, and I rejoice!

That would certainly dress up that strip mall. Its depressing most of the time!

Caterer recommendations for hubby's 40th in Mamaroneck, NY
