Where to buy ladyfingers in Vegas?

Yep, got them there today!

Where to buy ladyfingers in Vegas?

I found them at Whole Foods on LV Blvd, which I can't believe I didn't think of before. Downside is they are quite expensive there. Then today I found many different brands of them at the International Market on Tropicana and Decatur. Best place in Vegas to get them if you want them IMO. Just thought I would update you all on my progress.

Where to buy ladyfingers in Vegas?

I drove around to 4 stores yesterday so I could make tiramisu. Smiths (where I have bought them before), Fresh & Easy, Trader Joes (who said they only carry them around Thanksgiving and X-mas), and finally Albertsons. Not one of these stores had them. Help.

Best Doughnuts in Vegas

My friends and fellow doughnut fiends, I have heard some very good things from reliable sources about a small doughnut shop in a not-so-nice area of town that sells some killer D's. I have yet to try them myself but intend to ASAP. If anyone wants to beat me to it and let us all know what you think, here is the info:

Best Doughnuts in Vegas

I love donuts, can someone send me some of these coveted Blinkies?

Best Doughnuts in Vegas

That must be it. The name eludes my memory but if the address matches up, then that it is. They had great apple fritters there but I haven't had one in a long time. Of course, they were made just how I like them. Fried for a longer time so the apple fritter is almost crunchy, which I love. Not sure if that would please everyone.

Italian Superior Bakery

I have heard great things about this little bakery near Taylor Street but have yet to try it. All the things I have heard were positive so I plan on going. Anyone here try it and what did you think? Something particular I should order when I go there?

Types of pizza in and around Chicago

As others have said in here, I think by and large, thin-crust pizza is the type Chicagoans eat the majority of the time. When my family ordered pizza to eat at home, which was often, it was always thin-crust from our neighborhood place. This place also served deep dish but we never got it from there. All my other family members and friends also ordered thin-crust when they got pizza at home.

This doesn't mean that none of us liked deep dish because we all did. It was just something that we had every once in a while, like maybe 2-3 times a year.

I cannot attest to what the majority of Chicagoans eat most of the time when they get pizza but I believe most Chicago people get thin-crust most of the time.

Langers was good but............

Well being that I have not frequented any Jewish delis other than Langers, perhaps I am out of touch with what they all charge. I have never been to Canters, Katz's or anywhere like that before. To say I am ignorant about Jewish deli would be an understatement.

Langers was good but............

Wow, lots of responses in a short amount of time. Guess Langers has lots of support around here. Like I said, the sandwich was good, no doubt about it. One of the best pastrami sammies I have ever had. The price is excessive, though, IMO. To each his own.

Langers was good but............

I had always heard so much about Langers Pastrami sandwiches and how good they were. So I finally went with a friend to have one. The sandwich was good, no doubt, but the price.....geez. I don't know if any sandwich is worth that much. It's just a sandwich!

Where to buy Ghost Chilis in Las Vegas

Is there anywhere to buy the dreaded Bhut Jolokia "Ghost Chili" in Las Vegas. Prices?

N9NE Steakhouse

As I said in the OP, I just ate at StripSteak and they definitely dry-age their beef. They have it hanging in the dry aging room behind glass where everyone can see it.

Anyone visit Charlie Trotter's recently?

So basically both of you would agree that Alinea is the best place you've eaten at in America then? Have either of you tried Joel Robuchon at MGM in Las Vegas? If so, how did it compare?

Anyone visit Charlie Trotter's recently?

Uhockey, on CH you are one person that has obviously been around many different cities and eaten at all the best places. I am curious if Alinea is the best place you have eaten at in America? Was there another restaurant you found more enjoyable such as French Laundry or Per Se?

N9NE Steakhouse

If there is one thing Vegas has a lot of it is good steakhouses.

The only higher end steakhouse I have eaten at in Vegas is StripSteak at the Mandalay Bay. It was quite good but not "blow me away" awesome.

Anyway, the names I always hear when people are talking about the best steakhouses in Vegas are Cut, Craftsteak and Carnevino. But for some reason, whenever I hear about some famous person coming into town, they always are said to be going to N9NE.

Is N9NE that good? If it is not good and those other places are so much better, why don't the famous people go to the other ones? The Palms isn't the only happening place in town.

What's the best bakery in Chicago for sweets?

nsxtasy -

Well I haven't tried all the places mentioned, of course. So I cannot attest to how good all of them are or not. I can only go based on what I have tried. For my money, in my opinion, Webers is the best for the things I mentioned which is what I usually get there.

Most of their stuff is standard bakery fare, though. They don't get too exotic with their offerings but everything they do, they do very well.

What's the best bakery in Chicago for sweets?

Since my earlier entry in this thread last year, I have had a chance to try a couple other places recommended in here.

I am a huge fan of cannoli made the right way and Pasticceria Natalina did make a great one and they made it the right way as well. The only drawback was the cost. Around $4-5 dollars for one cannoli if I remember correctly.

I also got to try Swedish Bakery which was a very long drive from where I was. It was good and the selection was large. Of course, I could not try everything but the couple things I tried seemed to be good, but not great.

I still maintain that Weber's Bakery in the southside of Chicago is one of the best around. For chocolate cake donuts, carrot cake, kolachky, pound cake and other typical fare, I have found no equal.

Which Ann Sather to go to?

I know there are several in the area. I want to go with my wife to share one of the famous cinnamon rolls and coffee. Which location would you recommend to me for this or are they all the same?

Best Doughnuts in Vegas

Not sure the name of it. It's on Artesia. There are a few on Artesia though. It's in the same strip mall as a Japanese place called Rice Things. I haven't had it in about 5 years though so maybe it's not the same.

Best Doughnuts in Vegas

LA has more donut places per capita than any other city in the country. Lots of competition there breeds better donut places. The best apple fritters I have ever had was at some little mom and pop place in Redondo Beach. Now if I really want one I get it from 7-11. Not the best but it satisfies my craving for it. I have not tried Ronalds. Will have to try it someday.

Delmonico vs. SW Steakhouse

You know what they say? If it isn't broke, don't try to fix it. If you love Delmonico every time you go there, why go anywhere else?

Best Italian

I second the rec on Bootlegger Bistro. It's a "red sauce" place, which is a term I do not like, but very good IMO.

Looking for a good asian market for Thai items

Try 99 Market on Spring Mountain, SF Vietnamese Market on Spring Mountain or Bangkok Market on Flamingo and Decatur. Bangkok Market is quite small but is one of the only specific "Thai" markets around.

Reccos for a tourist looking for lobster

My wife is a huge seafood and lobster fan. So I am planning on taking her to Maine so we can feast on some lobster and other goodies in May or June. We live in Las Vegas and will be flying into Manchester NH so we will be having to drive over to Maine.

Can someone recommend a non-touristy place for us to go that isn't too far of a drive from Manchester and that has some great lobster at reasonable prices? Much appreciated!

Phil Stefani's 437 Rush

Has anyone ever eaten here? I am interested in how people thought the food was.

What is meant by New York pizza....and does it exist in Chicago as I recall it?

Las Vegas Caterer - Any Suggestions?

I know of a good caterer for Thai and Asian food if you're interested.

The Official Best Pizza in Chicago Thread

I started the thread and I can specify it to be whatever I want it to be about.

Pizza in Vegas

I would recommend Metro Pizza. They have a location not far from the Strip in the Ellis Island Casino on Koval Lane. They do a very good thin-crust Chicago-Style pizza there and I am from Chicago so I know these types of pizzas well. They also do quite a few New York style pizzas but I have never tried them before.
