Only comment - the staff at Cochon likely wasn't pushing alcohol to increase the tab. Skipping out on alcohol in New Orleans restaurants, especially Cochon, is pretty rare - the staff was probably surprised that you weren't drinking, that's all.
Bachelorette Getaway
No reservations, but definitely worth the wait. Get there early for Friday lunch - it is an institution in New Orleans.
Inexpensive Sunday Brunch
I can't figure out why so many of the posts recommend EAT. My experience there was sub-par at best, and that has been the case for all of my friends. If you are in the Quarter, Petunia's is great for brunch - very New Orleans, and reasonably priced. Just be prepared to wait in line. If you can leave the Quarter, head to Cafe Atchafalaya (on LA Avenue, Uptown). The jalapeno cheese cornbread is sensational.
Casual, Budget Dinner Sat Night
I'd head over to Rio Mar. The food is consistently excellent, but not at all heavy. Sometimes, my husband and I just order a few appetizers - ceviche tasting is a must, as are the mussels with chorizo. The bartenders there have a lot of fun mixing up cocktails like caipirinhas, and they've got a good wine list. The restaurant has a casual and fun atmosphere, and you can walk out of there delightfully satisfied without having spent too much money.

First Trip to Buenos Aires
My husband and I are going to Buenos Aires in a couple of weeks, staying for 10 days. We will be in Palermo Viejo, but plan to explore all around the city and possibly make a couple of day trips. What restaurants and local specialties can we not miss out on? What markets are worth visiting (we'll have a small kitchen in our apartment and look forward to cooking with local ingredients)?
Mila or Louisiana Bistro
Never heard of Louisiana Bistro, but MiLa is definitely worth a trip. My husband and I went there for dinner a couple of months ago and were very pleasantly surprised - nearly Restaurant August quality food at MUCH lower prices.
I think that the location hurts MiLa a bit, but the food totally makes up for it.

Cochon is good, but over-rated.
Bars - it depends on where you want to hang out. If you are Uptown or in the Garden District - The Bulldog, Fat Harry's, The Balcony, and Cooter Brown's would fit the bill. The French Quarter - try Molly's at the Market.
Live Music - Tipitina's or the Maple Leaf.
Never Been to Austin
I'm coming to Austin this evening for a long weekend, but know very little about the restaurants there. Some recommendations I've gotten are Z-Tejas, Matt's El Rancho, and Lambert's. Can anyone comment on these or give other suggestions?

Agree that Amalie's is a romantic setting, but the food is just OK. Le Crepe Nanou is good for a romantic little dinner, but not a big night out. Vizard's has a nice romantic atmosphere and the food is great, if a bit pricey. Patois has everything - food, atmosphere, service.
1st trip to Napa and I have some questions...
My husband and I went to Meadowood in St. Helena two weeks ago, and couldn't have been more impressed. The service was friendly and unassuming, while very knowledgable. I had the 9 course tasting menu, while my husband had a 4 course tasting menu. At Meadowood, they really let you design your own menu if you'd like (as he did). My first course was toro with caviar and creme fraiche, paired with a very nice Japanese sake - a truly great pairing as the saltiness of the caviar played perfectly with the sake. I wouldn't be surprised if they get their third Michelin star someday soon. We were very glad that we skipped French Laundry this time around.
Help for a night
While it is a bar with a lively dance scene on Saturday nights, the food upstairs at Mimi's in the Marigny can't be beat. They offer a very impressive tapas menu, and the mushroom manchego toast is heaven.
