Dallas / Ft Worth - 1 Night - Mid Week - Suggestions for a beer, a walk about and some good food

Staying closer to where your at, you can go to downtown Grapevine. Tolbert's for local flavor in food and Wilhoites for great local people watching and a beer. Lot's over other spots up and down main street to check out.

Billadelphia's

According to their face book page, they are opening the new place on Friday. The address is 5752 Davis Blvd, N Richland Hills. Nice to have them back.

Colleyville Eats

Thanks for the update. I still haven't gotten in there yet. Every time I pass by, though, it is packed. Nice addition to the neighborhood as far as I can tell.

Grapevine

Nice. Thanks for the heads up. I can now Start a rotation with that and El Paisa.

Great new pizza place in Colleyville/mid-cities area

Stopped by several times since it closed. Plans are for it to re-open. The guy who did a lot of the cooking bought the place. Right now it's gutted as they are changing the interior to update it. Plans to add a patio and maybe beer and wine. Hope it works out. Haven't heard an opening date yet.

(DFW/Arlington) Christmas Tamales

Thanks for the heads up. Owner was very nice. Picked up some frozen black bean & cheese and pork. Can't wait to try the spinach and feta. He said these were great heated up with a fried egg or two on top. sounds great.

Heart Attack Grill

I love a good burger, but I don't get this whole gluttony trend. Kind of grosses me out.

Simple Cream of Jalapeno soup

Been quite a while, but I've had a good version at Reatta. Not sure about the cilantro though. The recipe is in the Reatta cookbook which I'll buy when I win the lottery.

Fried Burritos

Amen on Allsups. The ultimate beer drinking food. Kinda like Krystal burgers. Neither have any redeeming qualities, but I can't pass them up.

5220 State Hwy 121, Colleyville, TX

Thanks for the report. Been thinking of trying it. Think I'll stick with my newest fave, Bottlecap Alley.

Restaurants everyone loves--except you

Chez Spagnetti.

BBQ cook-off at Bass Pro in Grapevine tomorrow, the 11th

Big fundraiser for Camp Craig Allen that is going on it's 4th year. Great deal to pig out on some BBQ. 10 bucks gets you a wrist band to go around and sample everyone's food. about 65 teams will be there. Stop by the Texas Fishing Forum, aka Big Fish BBQ, booth and you may get a chance to meet the infamous Scagnetti. Good deal for a great cause.

Knife sharpening

Good to hear. I completely forgot about the last one. Sounds like this may become part of a rotation. Lord knows I have a few that need it.

Knife sharpening

Thanks for the heads. It's right down the street.

Carry out Pasta in Knox-Henderson (Dallas)

Are you going to mix it in your gruel?

Best Crab Legs----Dallas

Do it at home. I never shop Albertson's but they often have big snow crab for $4.99 a pound. They must have a good supplier because I've always gottenn good crab. Cover the table with paper, melt the butter and go to town,

Great new pizza place in Colleyville/mid-cities area

Thanks for the correction. I knew it was an A one. I don't particularly mind those places for pizza (better than the chains), but they are all the same.

Great new pizza place in Colleyville/mid-cities area

Glad you like it. A nice change of pace from the other pizza/pasta places around. I will say you'll do better with a fresh pizza rather than by the slice, but that's every place. At least we now have a place to get a decent slice.

Great new pizza place in Colleyville/mid-cities area

They do serve it by the slice. I sometimes grab ine for an afternoon snack.

Found thiss spot a few months ago. Peter's pizza and pasta. It is on Hwy26 just north of Glade in an old Taco Bell. It is not one of the Aremenian ones that litter the metroplex with names of Tony's, Joe's etc.. The owner is from New Jersey. Really nice crust and the sauce isn't overly sweet. The best part is the sausage. Instead of those ever popular processed rabbit turd things that most places use, He cooks and slices italian sausage links. It's good stuff. Give it a shot and hopefully he can make a go of it and stay around awhile. Tell him Brad sent you.

(DFW) Freddy's Frozen Custard - Frisco

Haven't tried the custard yet, but they do make a pretty darn good patty melt.

Off Topic (Grill Store) Dallas

I second Foreman's. Neat little store. And I'll third and fourth Cafe Medi. I pick up a gyro from there about once a week.

Sabrett in Texas

Just read the Sprout's weekly ad. If you have near you, they have Sabrett's for buy one get one free.

Early dinner with older parent near Westin Park Central

Remington's in Addison is not to far away. It's a family owned seafood place. Very nice inside and prices are reasonable. Excellant straightforward seafood. Fairly quiet inside which makes it popular with the older crowd.

Tio Joes - Anybody been?

Looks like the original is in the Oak Cliff area. Just saw a sign on the old Don Pablo's in Grapevine that it is about to become a Tio Joe's.

Where can I find good pizza in Dallas?

I wish they would add the ability for posters to make polls!

Southlake, Keller Fine Dining?

CocoaNut covered most of the main ones. For a local nice place, we really like the Classic Cafe. It's in Roanoke.

Where is a good independent meat market in Dallas?

I generally get my meat from Sam's or Costco as I think you get the best bang for the buck. I do make the trek to Rudolphs every so often to pick up some links of their polish sausage. Some of the best I've ever had.

[DFW] Cowboys BBQ and Ribs

Saw they opened this week, but haven't been. I did find one of those half off deals for the restaurant if anyone is interested.

Side Dish for Steamed King Crab?

I do snow crab every year for my wife and daughters and this year is no different. Although for V-day it ends up being all about the crab. I have 6+ pounds for 4 of us with sliced lemon and melted butter. The one thing I do include always is a greek salad. Just always seems like a good combo for us. During the non-V-day dinners of crab, I just include a nice bread to go along with it. My girls are carb fiends so it stretches the crab a lot further.
