New Mexico Retreat: Santa Fe, Abiquiu, and Ojo Caliente

Bodes in Abiquiu actually has a great frito pie - just have them make it fresh!
Dito almaluna's El Parasol rec, I get tacos there - worth the drive (2 hours from me!).
if you call and el faralito is open, they are good - great green cheeseburger or enchiladas - combo is nice too.
good luck!

Places to Dine in Las Cruces and Hatch?

chopes is amazing - if I could only do one restaurant, it would be Chopes! I haven't been to cruces in forever , but nopalitos used to be really good food, too. enjoy!

Albuquerque to Sedona to Kayenta and back

Dollies is gone, fyi! In Espanola, Los Arcos,$$, would be my rec, or El Paragua, $$$ (also a takeout El Parasol, get tacos and find somewhere on the way to eat)

In Gallina, Papa Joes has the best green chile cheeseburger of all!

what happened at El Farol in SF

I know, I am hoping we just caught a really bad night but I heard a rumor the chef (at least the one from 3-4 years ago) is elsewhere, if so I would love to know where to so I can follow!

what happened at El Farol in SF

We used to eat at El Farol regularly but after having babies we haven't been in quite some time (at least a year and a half). I used to love that restaurant, it was my favorite of all places to go, but we went last Friday, late lunch, and it was so bad! All 7 tappas we had were bleh, and the bread was barely edible. Did we just have a bad experience or has something changed?

Santa Fe - Looking for New Mexican/Local Cheap Eats

Tomasitas on Guadalupe is actually really good, just crowded.
Horsemans Haven is great - more of a saucey green but very good.
Good luck!

Recommendations for Santa Fe, Sedona and Phoenix

in Alb: Try Garcia's Kitchen, we always go to the one on 2nd street, New Mexican food - great Relleno's and the brisket tacos are the best.
in SF: a special dinner spot for us is El Ferol, Tapas menu, very romantic and special, they always make me say wow! If lunching in SF, the Back Street Bistro has the best soups and sandwiches around, often organic, delish!

The "New" Coyote Cafe in Santa Fe

Caution with the Red Sage folks, it has been one of my top ten most dissapointing meals ever - (not that I had that list, this just started it) Gabriels, El Nido are in the area of the Red Sage and much better. Hate to be the complainer but wow, was it a bad experience.

Advice on Santa Fe: Cafe Pasqual, Geronimo, The Compound, etc

Bad news on Red Sage at Buffalo Thunder - I was dissapointed like never before... I would recommend El Ferol (always makes me say "wow!") El Nido, yummy and fancy, but not ever, ever Red Sage...
Appetizers: we had a cured meat which was the best part of the evening, friends had shrimp that was fishy at best.
Main course: one of our party had salmon, one beef ribeye (best meal of the 4), my husband had buffalo and I had beef tenderloin. Four bites into my meal a hair was under the steak, no biggie, not squemish but wanted the waiter to know. He whisked away my plate, and didn't return.
No one ever came over to visit with me, and our ticket revealed full price for a meal that was whisked away from me after only 4 bites! Why didn't I go to task, it was a treat from an older friend who went way out of his way to take us on this treat...I didn't want to spoil his fun in any way shape or form.
$350 for 4 of us and ok food with a mixture of fair-poor staff. Just not inspiring, and especially when such good food is around. Even Gabriels, close by, is a much better pick!
Enjoy, SF does have some terrific food, just not this spot...
