What's the hype about?
Went last weekend. Got there early so not too busy. Service was excellent but then again not busy at time when we arrived. Service negative was twice I had to poor wine for the table (not the end of the world) and when removing our appetizer plates they requested we keep our dirty eating utensils for the main course!?! Food was very good. Very large servings at decent prices but would not be surprised if prices go up in future and this is not a tactic to get people in a trendy and competitive area to try them. Atmosphere was good although a bit too warm inside as owners prefers to keep doors open to outside allowing humid air inside. I will go back again.
Avenue & Lawrence update.
Went by on Saturday on the way home from dinner out for a night time drink. Interesting place and something that the perhaps the neighbourhood needs - somewhere local to go for a drink, music and tapas style food. Lots of patio/lounge space and fairly nice. Did not try food. Stop by and check it out if you are local.

Best splurge dinner?
North44
Scaramouche
for excellent food and atmosphere that would be appropriate
Restaurant Suggestions - York Mills/Lawerence/Eg and Yonge area
Here is the deal - four mom's with children between the ages of 8 months and 4 years getting together on Saturday night for dinner/drinks. Want somewhere in the York Mills/Lawrence/Eg area close to Yonge (or Avenue and Eg). Good food /atmosphere and somewhere that we will not be rushed and hopefully the option to have a drink or two at a bar after dinner (located at restaurant or close by).
Any suggestions...

Rosedale MBCO (RIP) = new Terroni?
I heard that Terroni is actually going to be located on the upper level. Perhaps MBCO store front space will be entrance? Not sure...
Seeking a good restaurant with a big round booth or table for 8 people
Was there on the weekend with a party of six at a round table. We had lots of room and most likely could have fit another two at the table. Great meal - we all agreed it was one of the best we have enjoyed in a while (other recent visits include Opus, Nota Bene, Lee)
Of the six - four had the Dover Sole and raved about it.
Any faves around Yonge and Lawrence?
Abbott for very casual
Crave for Asian (mixed reviews on Chowhound)
Monkey Bar and Grill
Midtown for Mommy
Perhaps Lolo on Yonge Street north of Eg (formerly on Mt. Pleasant).

Cheap in Yorkville ... oxymoron or not?
Second level on the east end of the building.....
Good resto near Queen/Young?
You will find a lot of excellent reviews for Nota Bene on Chowhound. It is at Queen and University and a short walk from Yonge.
The Olive Oil Boutique (yonge and lawrence)
I walk by this place in the morning on way to work (closed) and on way home from work (closed). It looks interesting but I have yet to go inside. Occassionally in the evening they have a very large table set down the middle of the store set for a large party. What is this place about and any comments?
What is the best restaurant in Yorkville?
I would absolutely recommend Opus - great food, wine, service and atmosphere. Pangaea and Mistura are also good suggestions and agree aboutt he Beet Risotto at Mistura.
Eaton Centre Food Court
Shawarma King. Used to work in the area and loved it. Have not tried the other place mentioned but intend to do so when in area next.
Quick takeout lunch at Yonge-Bloor
There is a small place on bay Street on the west side almost immediately at the Bay subway entrance. Not sure the name of it and have not tried it. Anyone know anything?
The Coffee Mill tucked between Cumberland and Yorkvill has good veal sandwiches and hot dishes.
Quick takeout lunch at Yonge-Bloor
The Gourment Kitchen. Closer to Avenue Rd on south side of Bloor pretty well across the road from Winners. Second floor of building (the Collande? - Dynasty is there as well and Carties just moved in to building). Great prices and food - had chicken lasagna with a fresh salad for $6.50. Curry, Thai, pastas, meat loaf, stir fry, poached salmon etc...not sure if any meal if over $7. Very friendly as well. Have recommended it before here and had favourable responses
Twenty Bench area - need lunch recos
Think I was in Grimsby - a place called 13 Mountain street. Driving around trying to find a place and came across this. Was impressed. A lot of different choices and different items to appeal to all. Freshly baked breads on site. Will go back again.
Bagel O's
they are good - I was surprised. Got mine at Shoppers as well. The blueberry are good but I preferred the plain. These would be great to put out at a brunch...
Best of Bloor West/High Park?
North of Bombay is one of favourite Indian places. They used to be further east on Dundas and more of a take out and delivery place - the eat in section lacked a lot to be desired. I actually think the food was better when they operated like this but I still rank it top of list for Indian in Toronto.
Best of Bloor West/High Park?
been a few years since I have been but the pizza place on Dundas at High Park - Vesuvios. Any one been recently that can confirm that is still good?
Good lunch spots at Yonge and St. Clair?
Cafe Doria at Roxborough and Yonge
Grap a samosa from Skippy Mart at Walker or Woodlawn on Yonge
Forget name but the spot on the main floor of the building on the corner of Shaftsbury and Yonge (building immediately north of the LCBO).
Best cupcakes in T.O.?
WOW - I have not tasted some of the others mentioned here...perhaps I am missing out!?!
Best cupcakes in T.O.?
I always buy from the Cupcake Shoppe at Yonge and Eg. They are nothing like what you buy at the grocery store. We have served them to large crowds upwards of 50 adults ALL of which raved about them.
Collingwood Indian Food
Any tried the Indian food place on Hwy 26 in Collingwood...think it may be acalled the Collingwood Tandoori House. Thoughts or other suggestions
Cheap in Yorkville ... oxymoron or not?
The Depot on Bloor in the Colannade (sp?). It is on the upper level. Cafeteria style but good food and very reasonable. Generous salmon piece or chicken breast with nice standard green salad for under $7. Beef stroganoff, chicken curry and other dishes - pasta and lasgna all really good for under $10.
The Miller Tavern on Yonge at York Mills
Had been highly recommended so went. Was excited since just around the corner from home. Wife and I went for dinner and we were not impressed. She had fish and I had surf and turf. Food was average at the best. Atmosphere was not at all what expected. Service was poor as waiter seemed more interested in a larger table (larger tip) he was serving. Think he finally realized and tried to make up for it. I would much rather go back to Wildfire just south then go back again
Does anybody know about senior's steak?
Barberiens hands down is one of my top picks. Worth the $$
Something different but have had a steak frites twice at ($) is Rosedale Diner - I really enjoyed it both times for the money but that was over a year and a half ago.
