Pacific Grove Monterey and Carmel Report
Thanks to Gail and RoadHazard for their recommendations
We had several new excellent experiences in the Pacific Grove, Monterey and Carmel
Sandbar and Grill-Monterey-Municipal Pier-Lunch-First rate sand dabs and french fries (excellent with potato skins on), generous with the fresh crab...nice view of the water
Carmel Mission Ranch-Carmel-Dinner-excellent food and service...great view of the water and sunset-
Atlantic sea bass
Prawns and pasta
Artichoke with two sauces
Holly's Lighthouse Cafe-Pacific Grove-Breakfast
Great selection of omlets and scrambles (excellent chorizo) along with big array of pancakes and other sweet breakfast items
Zocalo-Pacific Grove-Lunch
Fresh made tortillas
Wide selection of Mexican dishes
Excellent chicken mole and chile verde pozole
Passion Fish-Pacific Grove-Dinner
Well known to Chowhounders
Dinner was first rate and well up to standard
The wine list is a real standout with numerous rare wines priced about 1.5 times retail
Make reservations well in advance...mobbed when we left on Saturday night
Massaro and Santos-Monterey-Coast Guard Pier
Really nice setting with view of bay and big wharf
Very friendly service
Excellent clam chowder with lots of clams
First rate sea food salads
Many specials that are not on the menu posted on the web
The Chowhounders definitely enhanced our trip
