Coffee Syrups - Where to buy?

Tried both Smart & Final as well as TJ Max and they both have the standard flavors. Oh well, just got a 15% coupon from Torani. I'll just order them from their site.

Thanks

Coffee Syrups - Where to buy?

AAQjr -

I've never looked through Surfa's for flavorings. I'll give them a shot.

Chewbacca -

Starbucks / CBTL only sells their specific flavors, and I'm looking for alternate ones. example, toasted hazlenut, shortbread, etc...

Raffles -

Thanks for the link, but I was really hoping to find something here in LA.

Coffee Syrups - Where to buy?

Living in her in LA we have lots of coffee shops and even more stores that cater to the coffee enthusiast. Fortunately, if you want a syrup for your coffee you can get almost anything. But when you want to buy a bottle for home you find that you are limited to the "normal" flavors that most people drink - Hazelnut, Vanilla, Pumpkin Spice...

Well, I'm trying to find a shop that sells coffee syrups locally that has a bit wider selection here in the LA Area. Preferably Monin, but Toarni's ok too.

Places that I've looked:
Whole Foods
Cost Plus
Bay Cities Italian Market
Ralphs/Vons/etc

Anybody have a great coffee shop that they want to share?

Thanks

Where to get my knives sharpened??

Seriously, how can Nobody here be talking about Tony Swatton @ Sword and the Stone in Burbank?? The man MAKES SWORDS. Not cheap cosplay stuff, like Pirates of the Caribean, Highlander, Thor swords. The man is a legend in the industry. And if you go on Saturday mornings, the only day he does them, he'll sharpen your knives for $4 a pop.

Seriously, the best knife sharpening I've ever had done to my Henckels. Worth the trip, the cost, everything. Go. Now.

ISO Veal Parmigiana

I've got to give up a delicious Veal Parmigiana at Panzanella Ristorante in Sherman Oaks. Just phenomenal. Great fresh pasta too.

Handmade Candy Canes in Los Angeles?

Hey All.

The family and I did d a run to Disneyland last week and were unable to acquire one of the delicious handmade candy canes that they make there. And it got me to thinking, is there a place in Los Angeles that makes Candy Canes the old fashioned way? Someplace I don't have to be at 6am to wait in line with the marathon sprinters to get one?

Anyone?

Thanks

DOWNTOWN Late Lunch / Early Dinner Suggestion Needed

We have the family coming out in a few weeks for the Holidays and have purchased tickets to the Disney Concert Hall. So we're looking for a late lunch early dinner suggestion that can accommodate 8 people (including an infant) and won't break the bank. Open to pretty much anything.

Thoughts?

Thanks

NYer Visiting Burbank

In Burbank I would suggest the following.

1. Porto's. Already mentioned here but well worht the trip.

2. Taste Chicago. Outside Chicago, it's my favorite Italian Beef sandwich - they also do a great deep dish.

3. Granville. A great little eatery in downtown Burbank with a great bar and friendly staff. Love the Pork Chop dinner. Also great burgers.

4. Chadanka Thai is also in downtown Burbank and quite good.

5. Caio Christina. Great little Italian restaurant next to Warner Brothers. Highly recommended.

6. Olive and Tyme. Excellent sandwich shop and more. Very trendy but excellent.

Help! All I want is Rapini.

There is a small chain of Supermarkets called "Sprouts" here in LA. They have the best produce outside of Whole Foods at a third of the price. I get my Rapini (broccoli rabe) there all the time. In the SFV there are 2 to my knowledge - one in Burbank and one in Woodland Hills.

Additionally, in Burbank is the Monte Carlo Delicatessen. Italian food and tons of supplies. Personally, their Hot Italian Sausage with fennel is what I buy and cook with.

Yummy east coast foods you can't get in LA area

Personally, I miss the brick oven backed Semolina Bread from Brooklyn. I'm a Jersey boy, but the stuff from Brooklyn is far superior. OUt here, the best you can get is at La Brea Bakery on Saturday mornings. They'll make a half dozen loaves. It's good, but not like back east.

Needed: Butterscotch powder

Yeah, I've found the oil/liquid/extracts, but the powder works better IMHO when adding to cakes and batters as it doesn't add the oil but the flavor.

Hey all. Is there anyone on LA that sells butterscotch powder for cooking? I can get it online but would like it to cook with tomorrow. I've checked Ralphs, Von's, Whole Foods, and TJ's - nothing. Anyone?

Ground Beef Burritos?

The only place I know that does a great ground beef burrito is Plancha Tacos - http://planchatacos.com/ Unfortunately they're on 3rd street in Beverly Hills. I'm a big fan and in addition to a great ground beef burrito in addition to a tiger shrimp taco that is really phenomenal.

Italian Semolina Bread in Los Angeles?

I"m pretty much of the same mind. If you Go to La Brea Bakery on Saturday they do make a decent semolina bread, but it's pricey and still not what I grew up accustomed to. It seems like that Brick over in the Backyard I've been threatening to build to pizza now has another purpose.
