Where to find a Po Boy in London?

Bugger. Looks like this could be a dead end. Maybe I'll just have to fly to New Orleans instead.

Have you got any suggestions for any stand out sandwiches in London instead?

Where to find a Po Boy in London?

I agree. But I do think there will be one somewhere. It'll just take some serious hunting down.

Where to find a Po Boy in London?

Does anyone know if a decent Po Boy exists in London?

I'm keen to find one for my next Sandwichist article: http://londonist.com/tags/sandwichist

Many thanks indeed.

Scariest Sandwich in London

Given that Halloween is fast approaching, I am looking for London's most scary sandwich for the October Sandwichist post (http://londonist.com/tags/sandwichist). If you've got any ideas of ghoulish, disgusting or scary sandwiches please point me in the right direction...

Equally they could, more simply feature pumpkin, toffee apples or other bonfire night goodies.

Thanks very much.

La Barca, Waterloo/Southwark, London

I had some very good sardines, albeit quite plain. And our prawns in garlic butter were excellent too.

La Barca, Waterloo/Southwark, London

Thanks to your suggestion we had a fantastic "pre Old Vic theatre" meal here. Your description of their spaghetti a la Barca is spot on. As is the dish. Great stuff.

[London] Afternoon Tea

I went to Sanctum and it was utterly empty and the staff didn't have a clue about the New English. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. We left and went to Yauatcha.

[London] Afternoon Tea

Sketch looks like a lot of fun for afternoon tea... and I am delighted to have now discovered Momo. Seems fun. Thank you very much.

Ah. Dukes. Douglas always recommends this place. It is well and truly on my short list.

[London] Afternoon Tea

For the June or July Sandwichist article for Londonist, I'm planning to review an afternoon tea. I've experienced the Lanesborough which was good, so I am looking for other ideas.

If anyone can recommend a brilliant place to go for afternoon tea (must include sandwiches) I'd be deleriously happy.

Thanks.

UK's hippest cocktail bars

I'm looking for the UK's hippest cocktail bars for an article I am researching. The sort of bars I am after are run by bartenders who make great cocktails and give them their own twist. They are also bars where you can have the sort of night out you talk about for days afterwards.

In London the some bars that fit the bill are Casita, Callooh Callay and nights like the Last Tuesday Society.

I'm pretty London-centric so far, so any help would be massively appreciated, especially if they are outside of the captial.

Many thanks.

WANTED: Unusual London restaurant. Dead or alive.

You are so right. This was on my "unusual" list prior to starting this thread. I want to go there. As it sounds very unusual indeed.

This sounds great. Where abouts in Brixton is it? I've just had a flash back to a history lesson where we learnt about the battle of Adowa.

Super idea. Think I'll be going to Ottolenghi's as soon as I can manage it. Everything I've read makes it sound brilliant. Plus I loved his feature in the Observer for Christmas.

WANTED: Unusual London restaurant. Dead or alive.

It does have some shocking reviews. Very true. I'd hesitate to add to them because our trip was more about exploring the senses. And from that point of view it was a huge success. Apart from a crying client and a boss who walked out!

Thanks Nii. These sound very interesting indeed. Mays and Iroko are now on my list. Just down the road from where I live!

London Marylebone Questions

You lucky thing.

c. Duke of Wellington is a very impressive gastro pub.

b. Ginger Pig on Moxon St for their sausage rolls
c. Paul Rothe on Marylebone Lane for scotch egg

Dinner

a. Go back for an amazing experience at Providores as everyone else has already said
b. The Galvin has a very good reputation

Have fun.

What a good idea. A decent blast of ferocious chilli heat is just what we need! Let's organise.

[London] What do people think of Bentley's?

My sole was clearly a good piece of fish but had been overdone. I really hope it hasn't gone downhill. My fingers are crossed that we were just unlucky.

Hibiscus is a very good idea indeed. And we went to Saf for the last installment of this monthly event. And your suggestion of Ottolenghis is excellent. I don't know why I hadn't thought of it!

Thanks for the suggestions.

WANTED: Unusual London restaurant. Dead or alive.

I've been to Dans Le Noir and had a fantastic time. Mainly because I took some colleagues and clients there who completely freaked out! I loved the idea and had a great time. Would recommend it, but probably for a one off.

I am still pretty fuming to be honest. Especially as it was such a big ticket item that I had been looking forward to.

[London] What do people think of Bentley's?

We went to Bentley's on Friday for a Valentine's Eve treat. It was an evening of extreme highs with some sensational oysters and troubling lows with some overcooked sole that they insisted was perfectly cooked.

Is this a one off or have others experienced this too? I have a suspicion that it used to be first class but has maybe lost focus since Richard Corrigan opened his eponymous restaurant.

Would love to know if anyone else has an opinion on this.

I think we're going on a Wednesday. But I see no reason why we can't get stuck into the club.

Very reassured by the reasonable cost of the wine.
