I ordered bacon shipped from San Francisco, (I live in L.A.). It arrived in two days, however the bacon was cool to the touch (not cold) and the ice packs had melted. Is it safe to eat? It was $8 a pound, I would REALLY hate to toss it! |

My Friend Thinks She's A Good Cook If Anthony Bordain can eat what he eats and remain gracious, an occasional lemon square won't hurt! |

Favorite Julia Child "moment"? The Baking with Julia episode with Nancy Silverton. Nancy made a brioche tart with white sauce. Julia took a bite, and with tears in her eyes exclaimed "This is to cry for!" I get emotional just thinking about it! |

Rosie's BBQ - Valencia, California We had a terrible meal at Rosie's! I ordered chicken that was so dry, I almost choked on it. Wood Ranch is not much better. Salads are the only safe bets. Santa Clarita, with a couple of exceptions is a culinary desert! |

Spiciest Food You've Ever Eaten? Habanero Shrimp at Babita. I ignored the servers warning that it was EXTREMELY hot. I took a bite, and at first my tast buds registered the most delishes shrimp I'd ever tasted. Then the pain hit . I coudn't even speak! My mouth burned for an hour after, then went numb! It still is one of the best dishes I've eaten.(well, the first bite anyway!!) |

Flat leaf parsley.....where have you been?! I live in Valencia Ca. and couldn't find any that hadn't gone to seed! |

sweet lady jane- incredibly rude! I ordered a triple berry cake from SLJ for my step-daughter's graduation party. When I went to pick up the over $200.00 cake, they were so rude I almost left without the cake! The only reason I even ordered it was because I had heard such wonderful things about their cakes. Frankly, I thought it was good, not great. Never again!! |
|
|
Cafe Fanny granola is like crack! I have to have it every morning with my yogurt. I pay $7.29 for a one pound box at Whole Foods in Valencia. It is so worth it!! ( I may need to check into rehab) |

Help! Red wine lover needs to switch to white I really like Sancerre. I too have rosacea. I prefer red wine and still drink it from time to time, but I pay the price with tomato red cheeks!! |

What are your Passover crowd pleasers? I've never tried to freeze them,(It might have a effect on the texture) but I have made them a couple of days ahead and stored them in chicken stock in the fridge. Worked well. |

Pop the question in Rome and then eat where? I love Piperno. Their fried artichokes will make you cry tears of joy. It's romantic and VERY charming. |

Need great recipe for Irish Soda bread My favorite recipe is from Elizabeth Alston's Tea breads and Coffeecakes. The name is Milo O'Sullivan's currant-nutmeg soda bread. It's really delicious! |

A chowhound married to a picky eater . . . divorce? ;-) I have a friend in the same situation. Her husband only eats hot dogs, steak, potatoes, some chicken and no veggies. The really sad thing is that he is an M.D.!!! Once a month we and a group of other foodies go out to great restaurants. Our supper club allows her to eat anything she wants, so she can go home and not strangle her husband! |

I've made gougeres many times. More often than not it's just my partner and I, so I only bake about half the dough. The next day the batter is just fine. |
