Burlington/Lake Champlain vacation advice and suggestions

I've never had a problem at Skinny Pancake - the staff is always friendly to us and i've never had to wait an inappropriately long time. I think the food is awesome and would be worth it even if those things were true.

Burlington this weekend - bfast/lunch?

I love Magnolia and Skinny Pancake.

Farms around Hartford-Foodies where are you hiding?

The Coventry Farmers market is wonderful. www.coventryfarmersmarket.com They are a regional market, so they have vendors from all over. It is every Sunday from 11-2. I look forward to it all week.

There are 3 farms that sell cheese that sell their products there - beltane farms out of lebanon is my favorite. Their chevre is amazing.

Good eats in Woodstock, Vt. area?

I really like the food at the Woodstock Farmer's Market - its not a sit-down restaurant - but a great place to get take-out for the road - or a picnic to take on a hike....if you are in the mood for a beer - the long trail brewery is a great place for a beer - it is nearby in bridgewater corner....and we also like Tip-Top Cafe in White River Junction - about a half hour away....In Quechee we've eaten at the Farmer's Diner, which we liked better in concept - as they serve a lot of local foods - but the food was mediocre and the service a little rude; and at Firestone's, which is somewhat inconsistent - one meal was great, the next disappointing. We also really enjoyed the bakery at the King Arthur Flour store in Norwich. The had the best almond cookies and macaroons.

Wood and Tap Coming to Vernon Ct

I've been twice so far - it is packed - always seems to be a wait. I waited for over an hour last night for a table and it wasn't during a traditional dinner time - we got sat shortly before 10pm. The service is a little spotty - but since they just opened, I think that will probably improve with time. All restaurants have some kinks when first opening. I think the food is pretty good and the atmosphere is nice. All in all, I am excited to have a Wood N Tap east of the river and a short distance from my house.

CT restaurants open on Christmas Day

My sister-in-law was killed a couple of weeks ago, and my in-laws want to just go out do dinner on Christmas - and not do the family thing this year. Does anyone know of any restaurants open on Christmas in Hartford or Tolland County?

Thanks!

t-day wine?

i second the beaujolais - it goes great with the turkey

food games

I really like Foodie Fight

Best ice cream in CT

I would have to second Shady Glen - I love their mint chocolate chip and pistachio ice creams....and my fiance loves that chocolate peanut butter.

I also really like the gelato from cold fusion gelato, which i think is out of Rhode Island but they also have gelato bars at the Whole Food Markets in CT - it is soooooo good.

Turducken in CT?

Try Highland Park Market - I heard that they had it.

Vermont Cheese Makers

I really like the cheddar from Shelburne Farms. If you go to their farm store, you can buy the cheese in big blocks, which takes the cost down a bit. On an unrelated note - they also sell a fantastic Honey Mustard.

Glastonbury Update

I haven't made it to Tango yet, but have been trying to...I went to 2 Hopewell in August and was not too impressed. A big group of us took my mom for her birthday and we had salads, appetizers, meals and desserts and nothing was too memorable. I had a beet salad that the beets didn't quite taste right and my fish entree was a little bland, not bad tasting, just bland. I found it to be quite pricey and not really worth the cost. I have no problem spending 25-30 dollars on an entree if the entree is really good, but that was not the case. I even sampled everyone else's meals (and there were 7 of us) and was just not impressed. If you are going to drop $25 on an entree, I would recommend going to Max Amore instead.

Elements Bistro West Hartford CT

That might be - he was also a manager at shea's american bar and grill in manchester. The owner of Sheas was the owner of back porch bistro, so its quite possible that they were at Back Porch Bistro together. I have a friend who is working at Elements and I have heard great things, but have not made it there yet.

Rte 89 through Vermont.

If you are in Woodstock, you should go to the Woodstock Farmers Market - they have really good sandwiches, but they make them until 4pm.

Burlington, VT trip

We are going up to Burlington this weekend and would like to try some new restaurants. We are frequent visitors to the Burlington area and typically eat at a few favorites - Magnolia Bistro, Vermont Pub and Brewery, The Skinny Pancake, among others. What are some of your favorites in the area? We need to keep the cost down, but maybe have one nice dinner. I have been reading about this new pizza place - Bite Me Organic Pizza and am wondering if anyone has tried it yet? The review I read made it sound pretty good...

Burlington VT, and surrounding areas?

Trattoria Delia would be the best bet. I would love to get a gift certificate there...

Must chow stops for LA hound on bike trip to Vermont

My favorite place in Boston is Betty's Wok and Noodle. You can order from the menu or you can pick the different components of your meal (noodles, veggies, meat and sauce). The food was excellent and the atmosphere was fun.

We travel to Burlington every few months and we ALWAYS eat at Magnolia's Bistro for breakfast. They have great, creative food and are a part of Vermont Fresh Network, which is a group that advocates using locally sourced produce. The Vermont Pub and Brewery is a great place for an inexpensive meal with a casual atmosphere. If you are looking for a really nice dinner, try Trattoria Delia. It is a little pricy, but worth it. I also like the Skinny Pancake, a cute little crepe place right by Lake Champlain and Leunig's Bistro. If you like lasagna, you should try Bove's. They were even featured on Bobby Flay's Throwdown. If it is not too far out of your way, you should go to Cold Hollow Cider Mill. The cider doughnuts alone are worth the approx. 30 minute drive out of Burlington. Also, be sure to have some Vermont beer or cheese while you are there. There are many local providers in the area and all the ones I have tried are excellent. Magic Hat in South Burlington is worth a visit.

Zara's in Ellington, CT--closed

is it any good? i had a job interview there a couple weeks ago, but turned it down...

Burlington, VT area in November

We always go to Magnolia's Bistro when we are in town, but its only open for breakfast and lunch. i second Trattoria Delia - the food is excellent and it is a romantic atmosphere.
