Plymouth, MA Italian-Portuguese flatbread
Agree, the new recipe is NOTHING like it used to be! It used to be knobby, thicker and full of black pepper and chorizo. Now it is thinner without even half of the taste. I wish I was better at dough, I don't even know where to start to recreate it at home.
Visiting Colombo, Sri Lanka
Heading off to Sri Lanka on Friday.
Would love some recommendations for lunch and dinner.
Narragansett, RI-Recs Needed
I second Matunuck Oyster Bar. The whole menu is excellent, but especially the oysters.
Sri Lanka recs?
El Jefe - headed to Sri Lanka in a few months. Did you enjoy your trip? Let me know if you found some good restaurants! Thanks - Kitz
Report on 2007 North India trip – before I forget all the details
I'm traveling to Sri Lanka in September. I think I'll have 2 nights in Colombo. Are there any restaurants I should not miss? I'd love some recommendations. Thanks - Kitz
Kifla recipe, please?
I am headed to Cluj next week! Off the subject but I'd love any tips or suggestions for places to see and eat if you have any. I don't know what to expect! Thanks :)
Anyone tried 195 Franklin St in Bristol?
Great, maybe we will try Reds tonight. We have been to Sam's twice now and love it. I really did have a great experience at DeWolf the other night, awesome food and great service. I got on the email list for 195 Franklin and am still looking forward to trying it next time they offer dinner. I'll let you know!
Dewolf tavern, Bristol, RI
We went to DeWolf last night and it was terrific. Service was fast and attentive and dinner was excellent. After all the negative press, I was very suprised. Give it another shot.
Anyone tried 195 Franklin St in Bristol?
We just moved to Bristol and I'm looking for some good recommendations. I just stumbled upon a review of this, has anyone been? Never heard of it!
Le Central (Bristol RI) - Anyone tried it yet?
I've been here twice and it's definitely hit or miss. The crepes are perfect. Everything else I've tried needs some oomph. I like the decor, location and service but I won't be rushing back.
Plymouth, MA Italian-Portuguese flatbread
oh YES please post the recipe!! I have been trying to find it online for years and no luck. I'd be excited to try your version! Thanks
Copper Beech Inn
My first time here and it will be my last. I am shocked at the good reviews for this place! Brunch was horrible. Not one item served was cooked through. Cold oatmeal souffle (which wasn't what I'd ordered in the first place), lobster benedict with eggs that were severely undercooked, and cinnamon fritters that were still raw in the middle. Ugh! No wonder we were the only people in the place. The service was fine until the check was placed on the table with the dessert, and then the waiter carried on with stomping by our table every two minutes to see if we'd put our credit card down. It was comical. In fairness I must say the bloody mary was quite good and thank god for that. But we won't be returning.

Holiday period foodie events/recommended venues?
Ooh great idea and Sharpe Hill is really lovely. I'm not sure what they do for the holidays but that would make for a fun day.
Newport - bouchards, white horse tavern, black pearl
Agreed.. Black Pearl shouldn't be in the running. White horse has been fabulous in the past, but I didn't enjoy my meal there a few weeks ago. I vote for the Spiced Pear.
Does anyone have a great recipe for Saltsa Kima? Greek bolognese
In the past I've just added cinnamon and nutmeg to my bolognese, but I'd like to make the real deal tonight. There are recipes online, but I'm getting so that I can't make anything that hasn't been reviewed. Let me know if you have anything special.
Thanks Kitz
What to eat with cottage cheese?
YES! Cottage cheese and baked beans rocks.
Also cc with chopped granny smith, dark brown sugar and toasted walnuts is just about the best breakfast going.
Dinner in New Bedford/Mattapoisett or surrounds
Hi all
Meeting my brother tonight for dinner and we're looking for a good casual place in New Bedford/Mattapoisett area. I'm a bit tired of the Kinsale Inn but don't know anything else around. Let me know if you have any recommendations! Thanks- Kitz
Can someone identify this spice?
YES that's it! Thanks. Mystery solved. Now what to do with it!
Can someone identify this spice?
Hi All
Can someone tell me what the spice is directly behind the cloves in this picture. I brought this home from India recently, having requested sumac. I don't think it's sumac. Any ideas?

Help! My almost 9YO wants artichokes for his birthday dinner next week!
Why don't you take him to Artichokes ristorante in Malden.? He might get a kick out of it. They have breaded and fried artichokes that are supposedly pretty good.
Pepper Biscuits
Maybe this will help as well, I've been wanting to try them:

Pepper Biscuits
Where did you get them in Portsmouth? I'd love to try them and Ports is closer for me. Thanks!
Hong Kong without a sportcoat??
Get the crispy soft shell crab with Szechun red pepper! God I could NOT be more jealous!!
Hong Kong without a sportcoat??
Go to HUTONG, it's classy, no jacket required, and you'll have a perfect view of the light show across the harbor. Food is to die for. This may have been my most memorable meal ever. http://www.aqua.com.hk/
Carroll Gardens Brunch
Dell - Thanks for your advice. Just wanted to let you know, Miriam was FABULOUS.. service was a bit shoddy, we were in a group of 8 and 2 meals came out 20 minutes before the rest, but even so, definitely give it a shot. I'm craving the Israeli breakfast again already, the shakshouka was fantastic, I so wish we lived closer!
Carroll Gardens Brunch
We're heading down to Brooklyn for the weekend and need a good spot for brunch on Sunday. I've read about Miriam, Apt 138 etc but on older posts. What's best these days?
