Hard Hat Report Vol 7

We went to the mock opening and the food was ok but so not worth the prices they are charging. Everything was completely under seasoned from the cole slaw to the steaks. I had the pork chop with cole slaw and smashed potatoes. The potatoes were the best of the lot- very garlicky. The cocktails were fabulous though- the Spicy Bison and the Bluepear Lemonade were tasty.
They have some kins to work out of course and I hope they improve the food and lower the prices. They plan to do live music in a few months and the set-up is rather nice for it. It's got potential, but as I live down south, I won't be back for the food.

RIP part III: Austin Restaurant Closings

Evita's Botanita on S. 1st is gone. We went to DK's Seoul Food on Friday and the Evita's sign was gone and the space is completely empty. They weren't my favorite but the tower of salsa was amazing.

Seattle hound, coming to Austin

Huh, I liked Iron Works MUCH better than Stubb's. To each their own I guess.
If you can make it to P. Terry's for burgers- go. (S. Lamar and Barton Springs.) Some of the best burgers in town. Next door is the Barton Creek Saloon, which is very new, but a fun place to go. Plus the last time I was there the bartender was pouring lots of vodka with just a splash of cranberry. Good times.
I'm still searching around South Austin for decent places to eat. We spend lots of time at Matt's El Rancho for ok Tex-Mex but that's also because it's within walking distance. There's always a crowd there though.

I'm Flip Happy in Austin!!!!

I just noticed that recently while driving by. I LOVE crepes and can't wait to try it out!
