Eat In: The Galley on Metairie Road. Take Out: Schaeffer and Rusich in Metairie, |
Breakfast near Sheraton @ 500 Canal? Cafe Adelaide in the Lowe's Hotel has a good breakfast, as does the already mentioned Red Gravy. Regarding dinner within walking distance: the Bon Ton is on Magazine St., Restaurant August on Tchoupitoulas St. and La Foret on Camp St. |
Area of the city and the amount you would like to spend would be most helpful. |

Need suggestions some moderate priced local restaurants The aforementioned Mandina's, Katies in the Carrollton area, Liuzza's has two locations, |

April 18-20 weekend breakfast/lunch suggestions Reservations are always a good idea in this city and they are FREE. For breakfast in the CBD, there is Red Gravy on Camp, EATat Dauphine and Dumaine, The Coffee Pot in the FQ on St. Peter, I think. It is hard for me to do three New Orleans meals a day, but if you can do it, more power to you. Just pack a mumu or sansabelt pants :-) |

If Galatoire's can not accomodate you, then try Arnaud's. |

Dine in: the Galley on Metairie Road. Schaeffer and Rusich (504) 833-3973 |

Sunday Birthday Dinner Recommendations and Weekend Itinerary In the FQ, you have many restaurants that are open on Sunday for dinner. Those that I would personally recommend are: Arnaud's, Cafe Giovanni, Galatoire's. Galvez, GW Fins, Maximo's, Mr. B's, Muriel's, The Rib Room and So Bou. In the Uptown area: Atchafalaya, La Crepe Nanu, La Petit Grocery, Martinique and the Upperline. Wharehouse District: Emeril's, Rene Bistrot, Tomas Bistrot and Tommy's Cuisine. |

Collardman made some germain points. Also, it would help if you could indicate a price point and the area of town that would be most convenient to your hotel or if you are renting cars or are amenable to taking taxis. |
Have you tried Muriel's? Located on St. Ann at Jackson Square, it would be in walking distance and if you are able to get an 11:30 reservation, would allow you to get to the airport in time for your flight. |

Antoine's or Commander's Palace or other for Sunday jazz brunch Had an anniversary brunch at CP a few months ago and it was fantastic...both food and service. But if you are going on another day ($0.25 martinis with lunch on weekdays) |

With the exception of the non-modern requirement, you might want to check out the Yat Pack at the Burgundy Bar in the Saint Hotel on Canal Street. |

Thanks for the correction, Uptown. As an aside, St. James Cheese Company co- owner, Danielle Sutton, was one of the ten women honored today as a City Business Woman of the Year. |
Cheese: St. James Cheese Company on Magazine, Langenstein's on Arabella or Metairie Road. Bakeries: Whole Food and Dorignac's both have fabulous Italian cream fruit tarts that I love. Also look into Frances' bakery on Vets, the aforementioned Maurice's, Sucre on Magazine and if you want to take a ride, Zoe's on West 32nd Avenue in Covington. Chocolates: Blue Frog Chocolates on Magazine |

Acme Oyster House cocktail sauce Could have been Heinz Chili Sauce...never have had Acme's, just a guess. |
Loathe the Hilton location and love the Metairie one. |
Galatoire or Commanders Palace Have had lunch at both spots in the last month, hands down the nod goes to Commander's. |
Two years ago at the behest of a nephew, I checked out the place as a possibility for an after wedding family brunch site. I did not make it into the middle of the first room...saw way too much and got out. |

Crabmeat Cheesecake or Shrimp/Alligator Sausage Cheesecake? Have lunch at the Palace Cafe, try theirs. Get on the St. Charles streetcar. Stop at the Columns Hotel for a mid afternoon libation. Get back on the streetcar, St. Charles Avenue turns into South Carrollton Avenue... get off on Oak Street. Walk the 4 or so blocks to Jacques-Imo's and get the other. If you are there at opening time, you will not have a wait. Depending on the day of the week, you might find some interesting music next door at the Maple Leaf or if you want a quiet drink, walk back toward Carrollton Avenue and stop in at Oak Wine Bar...good food and great atmosphere. |

Crabmeat Cheesecake or Shrimp/Alligator Sausage Cheesecake? Have not had either, but am curious as to why you want to limit yourself to just one. You are travelling to the city of excess...try them both :-) |

Late reservation French Quarter Of those mentioned, I would choose Arnaud's. Shrimp remoulade can't be beat! If you are interested in drinks and appetizers, check out the Hermes Bar in Antoine's... The Quarter will be full of people and loud, as usual. If you want to avoid that, stay off of Bourbon Street and travel on Royal. Though you did not ask, if you are interested in brunch, consider Muriel's on Jackson Square or EAT on the corner of Dauphine and Dumaine...it is BYOL, so make a big Zing Zang Bloody Mary to bring along with your party. |

If you do go to Pascal Manale's, make sure you get the BBQ shrimp...they are the originators and they are delicious. Not a fan of Emeril's version...too much Lea & Perrin. Muffalattas are great at NorJoes on Frisco Avenue, just across the Metairie Road RR tracks. Crawfish and Football do not usually go together...we will get some very expen$ive ones in sometime in December and in the spring, when they are reasonable and plentiful, foootball is over. |

CP's .25 martinis with prix fixe? With those $0.25 martinis, (I like their Cosmos) you should consider ordering the Shrimp Hennican...my favorite app at CP. Sometimes, I have a double order for my entree. Favorite dessert is the Praline Parfait, unless the Strawberry Short Cake is in season. |

I have not been in a while, but Casamento's has always had great oysters. You should also go to Drago's (I prefer the Metairie location) for their raw, fried and/or charbroiled oysters. I have always preferred Felix over Acme, but understand Felix is having a few money problems at the moment. Have never been to the Pearl. |

Neice had a wedding and reception at Galvez last year in October. Food was outstanding and you can not get a better view! |

Christmas Day Breakfast - where to go? Depending on where your hotel is located, Cafe Adelaide would be my choice. On Christmas Day, your best bet will be a hotel restaurant. |

St Charles streetcar line dinner rec's 80 somethings on and off of a street car may pose a problem for all. Recommend that you |

What is the problem with this board? Is there a real problem with this board? Or just technical difficulties? Most days, I can't |

Rehearsal Dinner in New Orleans - May 10th 2013 - Need Suggestions Check out Mother's. Heard about a room (not sure about the size, may be too large) they use for private parties, Mothers Next Door. Would fit the bill for New Orleans food, casual atmosphere and fun. |

New Orleans for our 20th Wedding Anniversary Had to look up your hotel...new name for Louis XVI...great location on Conti Street. Transportation: we now have pedicabs in the FQ and cabs are always plentiful. Also fun to take the St. Charles Avenue street car, see the lovely homes and stop at The Columns for a drink. Get back on the street car and go to Carrollton and St. Charles and dine at Brigtsen's on Dante St., go on to Oak Wine bar for a nightcap. Take a cab back to the hotel. For the anniversary itself, I would recommend Commander's...will be celebrating ours there in November. Let them know that it is a special occasion and you will not be disappointed. For Asian lunch or dinner:Tamarind in the Hotel Modern St. Charles Avenue at Lee Circle. Dinners: Uptown/Commandrs, Clancy's & Brigtsens FQ Brunch/lunch: Muriels' & Arnauds Bars and apps: Hermes Bar at Antoines Congratulations and enjoy your visit. |
