looking for real good Nebiyaki Udon

Nebiyaki Udon is standard fare at every Japanese Sushi Bar and resto but now that the weather is getting colder i'm craving the best Nebiyaki Udon, on that has lots of greens, Tempura shrimp and chuncks of chicken with a raw egg floating on top and of course great Udon noodles. Where should i go?Any Manhattan location will do.

FRANK - East Village Italian Review

hey spice, both Piccolo and Gennaro fit your specs and yes iforgot 'ino ,great place. more electricity at "ino,LES the other two are more neighbohood spots but all three very good. buon appetitto!

Where can I get great patatas bravas? I.e. crispy with good sauce??

Tia Pol Is great but if i may clarify Patatas bravas traditional dish is served crispy with the sauce made from spicy pepper ,pimenton(spanish sweet paprika) and olive oil. Everyplace seems to have thier 0own variation with either allioli mayonnaise or some variation of thick ,reduced tomatoe sauce. take your pick, and Buen provecho!

Harlem's Cotton Club Cool Jazz/Hot Food

hey choc, if you go Sunday is the Gospel Brunch. i"m not sure what goes on at other times

FRANK - East Village Italian Review

right on! spicejunkies your review was pretty much how i feel about Frank"s. i use Zagat alot like everyone but when i see a rating of 24 or up i really don't expect the food to fall short. Some similar Italian restos that i found much better than Franks with similar ratings arepiccolo Angolo in the W.Village andGennaro on the UpperW.Side. Have you been to either?

anybody remember a resto called the Ballroom?

The Ballroom was a great resto owned by a great chef Fellippe Rojas Lombardi. He was a James Beard winner of Best New Chef. But the menu was incredible and had the best Tapas bar menu that I've ever had anywhere including Cal Pep in Barcelona. I've been searching for a Tapas Bar with the same great food and ambience as the Ballroom, any suggestions?

Harlem's Cotton Club Cool Jazz/Hot Food

hey chocolate" i thunk the CC is best enjoyed if you go with a group of friends. It"s basically a pretty laid back place but some dudes were wearing fancier threads. Thebuffet is really part of the cover charge, you're really going for the jazz, the food is kind of secondary but anyway the charge for the music and food is$42pp The crowd could not have been nicer ,the MC and staff very hospitable. You get the feeling that they're glad you came. Have a great time!

Harlem's Cotton Club Cool Jazz/Hot Food

with all the newer posts about restos closing in Harlem. I was pleasantly surprised last Sunday at the Cotton Club. We stopped in for the Sunday Gospel brunch. The Band called the Cotton Club AllStars rocked. But the big surprise was how good the Buffet was. 3 different kinds of Southern style chicken ,fried of course, baked and saute'd. My pref was the fried, good cornmeal batter but light.Blackeyed peas ,collard greens with the right amount of smoke, sppicy rice ,creamy grits scrambled eggs, youi name it. I washed it all down with 2 hot &spicy Bloody Marys. It isn't something iwould do back to back but it was lots of fun.Not too many places left like this.
