Is there ANY restaurant at all worth going to in Wilmington, DE?

Hi, I have recently moved to Wilmington by way of NY, NY, Washington, DC and Atlanta. I have been in the restaurant industry a LONG time and have recently started doing some career things that are not restaurant related. This history is important because I have a lot of experience with great food. I am so disappointed! The only place that hasn't completely turned me off is Lucky's Coffee Shop, not because it was amazing and I loved it, but because it was decent, not overpriced and kinda cute. Those are pretty low standards. There's no farm to table anything, anywhere... that I've found yet.. except a place in PA which was ok ( I can't remember the name of it) but not great. I'd love some help. I like to eat anything and everything. I'm not snobby by any means about food, but my experience so far has been that Wilmington has a LOOONG way to go to catch up. I might as well save my money and eat at home! Anyone been anywhere that might change my mind!? Any suggestions?

Looking for the locals favs..the really good stuff

I am a restaurant manager from NYC.. recently moved to DC for a job. I know of course the obvious good places that have had a lot of press (Komi, Restaurant Eve,Citronelle, Jose Andres' places, Central.. etc) But... I'm looking for the hard to find- cheapish eats that are still unbelievably delicious..and I really want the good stuff....not the ah.. it's ok stuff... I'm living in Captiol Hill.... where's the best brunch? Sushi? Mom and Pop? Pizza? Anybody have a fav?

The Culinary and NYC so near... where's all the eats?

hahaha.. touche.
All in good time.

Dear markp,

Welp, I didn't realize I didn't ask NICELY, sorry it has taken me so long to reply, I've been out of the state for a little while... the REASON I posted such a request is because I HAVE "trailblazed" this potential foodhaven and have exhausted all possibilities. I am a server and a cook and a culinary student and a regular college student. I've lived in the area for 4 years.

While there are many odes to food-from-NYC-10-years-ago... I'm looking for some innovative, while still simple, tasty, well seasoned cuisine that you don't have to take a mortgage out in order to pay for. I actually believe that I may have tried almost every restaurant in a 30ish mile radius of Poughkeepsie. I'm not being snobby, Im being honest... there is a lack of either well-executed meals, or innovation. I'm BORED. Please forgive me. Perhaps it's because I have worked in so many of them, or because I have friends that have as well... maybe I know too much of the behind-the-scenes to really be too impressed anymore.

But honestly, this is a humble and sincere request for some enlightenment. PLEASE reinvigorate my support and enthusiasm for a place with such un-lived potential.

ps. Michael Korda comes to my restaurant on a regular basis. Read the books... please don't put me down with your chastizing. That's not nice, either.

I guess we're going to have to agree to disagree..... his sauces are overrated.... overplated....sauces splashed just about everywhere...... he uses the obvious parts of proteins.. there's no creativity.. I'll grant you that his stuff probably tastes fine... but there's no originality to it... and there's DEFINITLEY no taste or class in his presentation..... EXCEPT for one episode of Iron Chef America.. when he went up against Adam Perry Lang. That show.. he actually did some good stuff and the plating was right on.. he deserved to win... and... i was biased for Lang's team because they were my friends cooking...

Rabbit Pate from Bouchon

Such a great book.... everything in there is simple and perfectly prepared...... seriously though... the best pate I've ever had... ever.... was sooooo simple.... chicken livers, sauteed with shallot, herbs, white wine.... and then emulsified with a ton of butter... classic red onion, dijon and cornichons to top if you feel like it...... out of this world. Not to mention... CHEAP.

The Culinary and NYC so near... where's all the eats?

This place (Hudson Valley) has so much potential... but where is it all? I have eaten all over this valley and have found very little in the way of truLY well-prepared food, and practially no interesting and creative eats. I don't get it. The Culinary is in the center of it all, local produce is amazing and NYC is so near.... Where's all the GRUB?!?!!?!

Chicken sashimi

No kidding!?! they took that off the menu? Such a shame.. that place is great...
