New "it" spots in Century City/Brentwood/Santa Monica/Venice Hey all. Trying to wrangle a res for tonight (last minute) with my girlfriend, somewhere new and hip and GOOD (duh!) on the Westside. I suggested Church+State (downtown) and Palate (glendale) but both are too far for her to want to make the journey after work. In any case, we're looking for something comparable to those two. We've done Craft, Axe, Via Veneto, etc. Need something newer and hipper, haha. I'm wondering if anyone can suggest a place. Thanks in advance!!! |

Meeting a friend from WeHo for dinner Try Tuk - Tuk Thai on Pico at Robertson = very clean, quiet, reasonably priced, and delicious. Another idea is Frida on Beverly Drive in Beverly Hills. Upscale mexican, quiet, def not a scene. For authentic mex I'm gonna say El Compadre on Sunset Strip in Weho. Very inexpensive. The tacos rock! |

Birthday dinner in Hollywood for 16 y/o and friends I'm gonna toss Beso out there. It's eva longoria's restaurant, very trendy right now, fun atmosphere... Worth a shot. Every time I'm there, it's wall-to-wall tables full of girlfriends. Another more low key option is the new Loteria grill on hollywood. Very casual but fun. |

Where would you go for a romantic special occasion (anniversary)? check out Sona... dave myers spot... very mellow, phenomenal food. highly recommend the tasting menu w/ wine pairings. thats my go-to. and if you tell them its a special occasion, you'll be in good hands. they do a VERY nice job. The other must-try is Bastide. Again, go for the tasting menu with the wine pairings. Be prepared though, dinner at both of these restaurants is a real production. like 3+ hours.. BUT it is worth every minute, and every penny. A meal you won't soon forget. If you're on the westside, Giorgio Baldi is chill and very romantic. But not in the same league as the other two. have a blast. |
